Yeah, but that wasn't the question. It was who had done so /and severely regretted it/. cause you know whales and content creators alike, for instance, don't fall into that category. It's a real shame that from the sounds of it in my comment, the poll was either taken down or never made. People do have a right to spend what they can afford on entertainment in whatever way they want. Of course, the outliers should have safety nets and resources available to protect themselves from predatory market tactics, 100%. Addicts, youth, mentally impaired etc. thats why we see things like "child locking" on consoles to kids can't used saved Credit Cards. Once we see those actions and being added to gacha games or the companies that distribute or propagate them (Play Store, App Store, Galaxy Store, etc etc) we can affect real change for these groups. However, I do not believe that those people in that above category make up the majority as many people seem to believe. What's especially damning is here in the west we actually have more predatory market practices from a less regulated market(loot boxes with no advertised rates, companies offering deals that don't actually have advertised items, removal of spent currency in a game after periods of inactivity) however no one bats an eyelid. Painting with broad strokes doesn't really help the dialogue. It just creates another symptom of otherism we need to address and muddies the underlying data

100% with Connor on this. I like waifus, collecting shit and RPGs so I'm willing to play them, but these games are just far too predatory for me to even consider the possibility of gambling in them. I'd rather spend 200$ on a figure of whatever character I like, that I'm guaranteed to get after paying, instead of spending them on a chance to get a PNG/3D model of said character. Genshin's 400$ for a guaranteed banner unit? fuck that, I can buy a whole game console for that much, or a bunch of manga/BDs/games, or a ton of merch of my favorite characters, or a lot of other things that have more tangible value than "a chance" to get a character. That "it feels better to get them with the money you spent than with the free currency" is gacha stockholm syndrome talking. Soon Joey and Garnt are gonna be saying stuff like "oh I'd like the rates to be lower and have no pity because it just feels so much more exciting to get a rare unit that way". I kid you not I've run into people with this mentality, saying that pity systems ruin "the gacha experience" becase it's just "pressing the roll button until they predictably show up" and that "not knowing if they'll show up, going in deep and finally getting them makes the hard work they did to get that money feel so much more worth it", real messed up stuff, absolutely the kind of people these companies are gunning for and helping create more of.
the thing is some gacha games can be played solely F2P why would you spend genshin $200 guaranteed banner if you can save that amount of gems just by playing or getting 4000 gems from monthly $5 welkin
@@blank1199 Yes it's possible to play entirely F2P on certain games, I play Genshin full F2P, not even welkin/BP because I'm not about to pay Mihoyo to help solve their manufactured scarcity. The thing is that if you're F2P you'll *have* to skip units and there's people who simply don't have the willpower to just suck it up and deal with that. What if you want this character that was leaked, save for them, eventually get them and then right after that another character gets leaked/announced and you like them? even with a month between them you're unlikely to get enough primos to reach pity, let alone guaranteed banner pity, all you can do is pray to RNG, and that's where the trap is, make free resources scarce enough but give people a clear monetary value for getting what they want to get them to consider spending money. "Man I'm gonna be just short x amount of primos for pity by the end of the banner, I'll only need x amount of money to get them guaranteed, if I don't get them from free pulls maybe I should..." I watched a TH-camr that said he'd go mostly F2P, only welkin and BP, and guess what? he's spent money on nearly every character banner that's been released, and he's lost the 50/50 on 3 out of 6 of the banners making him go even further on the spending, now he's even considering going for the weapon banner, this is the kind of people these games are designed for, the people that can't help but go "just a little more and I'll get them"
@@icenmeteor3489 its basically just basic economics and marketing, just save and roll for any character that you need and really like and if every character is what they liked then it is their problem, they needed to learn priority assessment if they CANNOT or dont have the money (like me) to whale on every characters. Almost all companies create those artificial scarcites in order to push and sell their products, some are tame, some are hyper aggressive, some are outright forces you to pay. The good thing is genshin is one of those games that doesnt force you to much to pay in order to fully enjoy the game
@@blank1199 Yeah, the good thing about games like Genshin or FGO is that you don't need to roll for every new hot unit to keep up with the game, you can play and clear all content with what you choose to get, sure maybe you won't faceroll everything witout the most meta units but it's fine as long as you don't *need* the newest 5-star unit to clear new content. Gacha's still scummy as hell though, and it should be regulated to keep the people that simply can't control themselves from ruining their lives, there's always going to be personal responsabilty involved, but when the games are engineered to target impulsive spenders with tendencies toward gambling, addiction and lack of self control some of the responsibility has to fall on the publishing company.
Connor is 100% right, to be honest. I find it hard to justify spending $79.99 on 55 summons worth of Saint Quartz when that could get me a permanent copy of a video game that has anywhere between 20-100+ hours of gameplay and a nice lunch afterwards. Especially when 55 summons doesn't guarantee that you'll get anything you were aiming for. Yeah, I love the shit out of Fate, but I can't escape the feeling that my love for the series is being exploited for easy money. I feel like you can enjoy something without having to defend shitty predatory business practices.
I love Fate and play Fgo every now and then, but I totally agree with Connor's argument here. Joey and Garnt where presenting really dumb and stupid arguments this time which made it really awkward to listen to
Yet Connor is the most impulsive with least self control among the three. You're right that most gacha games are predatory, but alot of things can be without self control. People can ruin theirs lives on anything, gacha games is just one of them. I for the most part won't spend on a "chance" to roll for something. I only spend on monthly packages where I 100% sure know what I'm getting. People who have problem with impulsive buys just to "force roll" something really should stop playing gacha games.
I’ll be honest, it’s entertainment. People depend 100s on concerts and football games and that okay right? The chance aspect of gatcha is annoying and you should definitely not go broke from it, but essentially what you’re paying for is the entertainment that is getting and playing a character you want.
@@Mayoran2 no, if you pay for a ticket you can go to a concert, if you pay for a ticket you can go to cinema, if you pay for in game currency, you can get a chance to tried to win a waifu with a 000.5% chance. it's literally a gambling. and, doing drugs and fuck a fucking dog was a pleasure for some people, but that's not making it right.
@@danielcarrilho5217 and that's the problem, a lot of people fall down the rabbit hole and can't control themselves. And in this case, he's 100% on the right spot. Gacha games must be regulated, or else more people will fall for them and not everyone knows how to control themselves
Exactly! Addiction can only be broken through habituation. If you can't break your bad habits by developing new, more healthy ones, then you'll forever be stuck in this loop.
@@jacksc9855 I'm pretty certain that he's not saying that. If anything Joey and Garnt were the ones implying that those who fall into addiction lack the willpower to get out of it (which is ignorant of the science that has been common knowledge for a long time now). If anything, the OP was pointing out this ignorance and comparing it to another equally ignorant statement regarding depression.
for real! a gambling addiction is a gambling addiction whether your spending it at a casino or on a game. when i was younger i went through a mild addiction to spending on gacha games and i really wouldnt wish it on anyone it sucks. in the moment you dont feel like what you're doing is bad because it feels good. it hits you after but then you do it again for the small adrenaline rush lol.
Connor is so right. Their arguments are so flimsy and just coming out of a place of offense and denial. Going out and interacting with real people, recieveing real food, items, etc. You get on a night out is much better than investing hundreds into a character that in 10 years you will not even care about and probably feel some kind of regret spending so much when you could have saved up and gone on a trip, gone to school, bought a new pc set up or something more rewarding and long lasting than a png. I feel they're defending gacha games too hard. They are very close to a scam and prey upon people with low self control. Grant and Joey don't probably feel the effects of spending so much to get a character since they make pretty good money and especially off their videos of these gacha games.
Yeah theyre trying so hard to defend the predatory practices of these gacha companies, probably because they're indirectly promoting them and it would be a bad look on them if the truth comes out.
Honestly, as long as they show people the rates, it's never a scam but almost is. I always tell people to read the fine print, details for rates and such are there for you to see. It's not a scam since they are honest on the probability of you getting the certain character. It's almost a scam because of how they can easily fool and manipulate people through words such as "rate-up increased" or "limited character" when in the end the increase is like 2% and the limited character gets re-released sooner or later.
@@naniwo4438 oh I'm not talking about sponsored videos I'm referring to how they talk casually specially on this podcast about "oh gacha is so cool, I love gacha, man I love getting that rare pull it feels so good" inadvertently getting people into it
I think they deleted it bc I cant find any polls from any of their twitters(the boys+traste taste twitter) that mention gacha. I did find this post where Garnt asks his fans how much they've spend on gacha but this is from May 2020: twitter.com/GiggukAZ/status/1260916500329672706
I am confused Garnt says that isn't the argument. After 4 different videos I don't think any of them know what they are arguing about. I don't get Gacha games but I am quite invested in the discussions about them.
@@Ummm2828 Lol wrong, Connor who is not a Gacha gamer have no right to be in this conversation. Who is he to say that the experience from hanging out with ur bois in a pub is more valuable than buying a character in a game? Its solely his own preference. Stupid people go broke, in all kinds of way.
BEST GIRL GABI because if you go to a pub and pay for a pint, there’s a 100% chance you will get that pint, unlike the 0.06 chance of getting a 5 star, and tbh you misunderstand, that’s not even what he’s saying
@@Ummm2828 The point is you know what you are paying for. People can go broke buying materialistic items or immaterialistic items, and whichever they prefer is their own preference. Yes, some people get more enjoyment from a waifu than a tequila. My problem with Connor is he doesn't apply his logic in all areas because he view certain experience like "hanging out with the boys" more superior than "getting a waifu in a game". I personally prefer a night out with the boys but I see it more as a preference than a fact.
I've gone broke many times playing gacha games. I don't spend money, but there are times where my pull luck is so awful, I end up pitying a character's weapons. Only to get lucky the next time they come around.
100% agree with Conner lol. "It's on the person" is just deflecting valid criticism of the predatory game design of gacha games. No good justification for why a 10 pull costs $15 for example and not "$1" for example as it's purely a virtual item that often takes barely any effort to create, or why the pulls can't be purely earned through gameplay and having the game be monetized a different way like every other game on the planet.
People are fighting for the chance to pay hundreds and thousands of dollars on t shirts that cost 3 dollars to make. Like supreme and valenciaga, and you don't even get to beat others with them like you can with a 5 star perfected shinny wayfu. Is it predatory for people to pay too much for luxury items you don't need? Is caviar predatory? Ferrari? The cost of production has nothing to do with how much people are willing to pay, known as the value.
@@sssenseiii Yes that's called ripping people off, you know. Asking too much money for something that isn't actually as expensive. So a 3 dollar T-shirt costing hundreds or thousands of dollars would be a rip off, and hence predatory. Caviar is expensive because it's difficult to farm after it's become a status symbol and has been over harvested, similar to lobster, scarcity increases price, although arguably you're still being ripped off with caviar, less than the T-shirts though. Now as for luxury items, luxury items aren't necessarily pointless, it depends what you define as luxury, technically speaking having a car in the first place can be a luxury, or having access to clean drinking water, depending on your circumstances, what you define as luxury and what not is completely arbitrary, it has nothing to do with this. As for a 5 star perfected shiny waifu, it's even worse, because you are not paying 500 dollars for something that costs 3 dollars to make like the T-shirt, you are paying for the chance to be given it, adding an element of gambling. Gambling is inherently more predatory because it plays with your dopamine and serotonine when you actually receive what you wanted, making you more willing to continue gambling. So you are both overpaying and not given the chance to just receive what you payed for, this can be especially dangerous for people who are underage, but even adults can easily fall prey to the kick you get from it, which creates gambling addiction. Lastly, you can still wear an over priced T-shirt, it's still clothing, no you can't beat someone with it because that's not what shirts are made for, you definitely can overpay for a baseall bat with some signature on it and beat people with it though, I don't get your point. I'd rather have a shirt than an ingame character, if those two are mutually exclusive.
@@witthyhumpleton3514 You are confusing value and price, value is what YOU subjectively think things should cost and price is the actual price. It's literally the same thing to pay way too much to be the guy that owns a Supreme t-shirt or the guy that owns a 5 star waifu. You don't pay for the product, but to be the guy. If I tell you: this T shirt cost me 3 dollars to make, but you are not very smart so I'm going to charge you 300, then that is the opposite of a rip off. That's just a transaction or how capitalism works. And it IS predatory but also how the world makes money. Water is also by definition not a luxury but a necesity, cars are luxuries; acces to transport a necesity.
@@sssenseiii Apologies this answer will be a bit longer, since I want to clarify price and value. Price is pretty understandably what you are asked to pay, I don't know what you mean by actual price, but the price you are asked to pay can be different from it's value. Value can be divided into two categories, utility value and exchange value. Utility value refers to the use of a good or service to an individual, so as a painter a brush may have a utility value to you, while it has none to someone who doesn't need a brush. Exchange value is measured in how much labour needs to be used to produce a good, so how many hours of work do different people need to put in to produce one unit of something, i.e. a brush. The exchange value can then be put relative to other goods, so let's say the brush takes on average 15 minutes to make, while a canvas takes 60, now you know the value of a canvas with your societies current average production methods is 1 to 4, that doesn't mean the price will keep this ratio. Paying for prestige is fine, and a supreme shirt or a digital character are not too different in that regard, the problem is the method of sale. You do not pay supreme 10 bucks for a 0.2% chance of being sent a shirt. If you did, supreme would have heavy extra taxes slapped on their sales because it would fall under gambling regulations. You can dodge these taxes in digital sales right now if you make your customer buy a currency and do not let the goods you sell them be tradable. If the goods sold cannot be traded back for real money, then they are in a legal grey zone, thus not being taxed as gambling. Both of these are different from just being ripped off by someone charging you more, although I still consider this being predatory, just less so than gacha due to the reasons I mentioned. If you sell me a T-shirt that cost you 3 dollars to make, but you charged me 300 dollars for it, that is by definition a rip off, it is not a normal transaction, it is also not how you create extra value in an economy. If you look at an economy, not just an individual, ripping someone off gives you more money, but doesn't create extra value in the economy. If I buy a shirt worth 3 dollars, and give you 300 dollars for it, you'd still end up with 3 dollars worth of value on one side, and 300 on the other, it's a zero sum game. You increase the value by ripping off the people doing the work instead, paying someone for 10 dollars a day, and making him produce shirts worth 15 dollars a day, if goods and transportation cost you less than 5 dollars, you've not payed the worker for the full amount of value he adds to the good, and you've made a profit. You've also created extra value from your money without needing to do any work yourself. That is how capitalism works, if you simply make people pay more than what your goods are worth, you eventually end up with all the money and no actual economic growth. Don't get me wrong, this mode of operation in capitalism is still predatory, nor does it mean people don't get ripped off, they do all the time, but it's not what created new value in capitalism. Lastly, I did not say water is a luxury, I said access to clean drinking water can be a luxury, and it can be, if you live in a society where all water needs to be cooked off before you can drink it then easy access to it is a luxury. If you live in a society where cars are necessary for you to work and make money, thus survive, you have little option but to try and get a car, what consititutes a luxury is completely dependent on your society, it's level of economic development, and even it's structural make up. In a drought, water become a luxury, this means people will die, because a good that is a basic necessity for survival has become a luxury. There is also water nowdays in advanced societies that is sold as a luxury, so no, water by definition is not a luxury either, but that doesn't mater, because the definition of a luxury is arbitrary.
@@witthyhumpleton3514 I don't care enough to read all of that, charging more than what something costs to make is literally how money is made. And actual price is ONLY determined by what consumers are willing to pay. WILLING as in the opposite of being ripped off. If Supreme told me that the Tshirt was worn by Jesus Christ and was woven in gold and it turns out it's cotton, then it's a rip off. Or if someone sold you a Sapreme for 300 dollars. If I look at you, and tell you: this is not really a Supreme, it is worth less than a dollar, but I'm going to charge you 300 dollars... That is not a rip off. A rip off is a lie, period. Gatcha sucks, soft brains fall for it, is not a rip off any more than the lottery is. Anyways, I'm kind of done, I don't care enough to argue.

There are regulations such as a bartender should stop serving the customer if the customer had too much drink, but a dealer won't stop a player from betting on the table when he kept losing. Basically everything is a scam in this world, we are made to believe we got something of value but actually it's all made-believe with jacked up price tags. Not many people would ask simple question: [Who and how are prices determined and why?] But we have to live with it, otherwise economy will fail.
@@Nagalior That's not actually quite true. Casinos benefit far more from regularly returning players that spend a few hundreds every month than addicts that bankrupt themselves once and can never play again. Sure, a dealer won't "usually" just interrupt the game to tell someone to stop wasting their money on a losing streak, but modern casinos do allow you to put a hard limit on how much you can spend per day/week/month, are partnered up with a whole bunch of support hotlines in case some player gets super distressed, and employee training often includes signalling to an operator that someone needs to be dragged from the table if they show clear signs of unhealthy spending. In rare circumstances a dealer actually may encourage a losing player to stop himself, though generally the industry requires it be framed as "why not try your luck next time" or something similar.
It's funny you mention that, because lootboxes and gambling in gacha games are basically the same exact thing as the lottery, but with slightly improved odds... Still a horrible, addictive and borderline exploitative practice.
I would feel better for wasting money on gacha because I still "get something" that I will probably use/see daily for a long time, instead of donating and 5 min later everyone forgot already '-'
God bless Connor's POV lmaoo I'd rather pay 400$ on physical merch than on a banner with a 0.1% SSR with an even abysmal 0.07% of actually hitting the god forsaken "rate up" unit. Paid "guaranteed" banners are in a sense more reassuring but most times it's a "guaranteed 5 star above UNIT" rather than the character that you actually wanted I do agree that if you don't like gambling then gacha games isn't for you, however some steadily growing franchises all end up being a fucking gacha game one way or another. And even then "not playing" just feels like you're missing out on a portion of that franchise, which really sucks. And telling people who got into gacha to "just stop playing gacha" is like telling a crack addict to stop doing crack, but maybe not to that extent, but the point is there uh, conclusion is, throwing dollars on jpeg not rlly epic move, buy body pillows instead
"Bro just quit the gacha bro" Is like "stop being sad bro if you are depressed" Gacha pulls, same with roulettes, are legit designed to visually turn on your dopamine receptors. If you can get addicted to gambling, you can get addicted to gacha.
A friend of mine who works in gambling industry sees all gacha games and similar free-to-play games as main competitor. Because there is a crap-ton of regulations that he needs to deal with. Like advertising to children, he is not allowed to do that, but these games can and they do. They spend the parents money and end up with basically nothing (a pretty PNG as was pointed out in different video). That being said. I have no problem spending $1 per hour of entertainment. If I spend 10 hours playing a game, I have no problem spending $10 as a support for the developer. But I stopped going to cinema, because it is not worth it.
How long has he been working in the gambling industry? Are gacha games really that competitive when trading cards exist and have much larger followings? Or when you say “gacha” do you mean games with lootboxes, etc.?
@@AntiSoraXVI few years now. he is at the board of directors for a major betting company in my country. Games that have gacha/lootboxes (they are the same thing in my eyes) exploit the dopamine hit you get for risk/reward mechanic of the game. Aside from the disclosure of change of getting the item, there is no regulation. So addictive personalities can sink a huge amount of money in these. Even kids with no self discipline. Here, if you are running betting website, you have to show a disclaimer to all user when they log in about danger of addiction to gambling. Only adults can bet, and you cannot target children. They have to validate that all users are indeed adults. They, of course, have to pay out all winnings (they even pay taxes on turnover, not just income, meaning they pay taxes on every money they receive without regard to any loss in winnings), which is not the case with gacha/lootboxes. You get a pretty png, a chance that might make your gaming slightly easier and that is it. Developer retains all the money, aside from cut various providers (steam, google, apple, visa, etc.) take and pay taxes on income only. The only way to look at it is that you are spending money on entertainment, you must have will power to not overspend. But same can be said for gambling. Gambling should never be considered as a way of earning money (unless you are the bookmaker with lot of gambling experience), rather than entertainment. Watching Starcraft match if more exciting when you have money on the line. But you should treat it as a bet between friends. Bet small amount (fiver, or tenner) once in a while for bit of excitement.
Last time. I spent money on lootboxes was 2016 and I still regret it even if it was only 20$, yet I know people who think spending 500 - 1000 is normal on just one game!
when it comes to gacha I just buy the monthly pack and always set a budget aside for me to spend, it's all about having self-control because once you start rolling you will want to get the character you like ,don't distinguish gacha from gambling and also don't feel pressure to roll if you have to wait a year to get that character, you shouldn't feel bad about missing a character it's just a game so just enjoy it as such nobody is forcing you to play it if you feel like it's too much take a break or stop playing it gacha addiction is a real problem.
Ikr, this is like preparing a budget to gamble and know how to stop, which is pretty much the same with spending money for hobby or that one expensive food.
When your addicted you know it's bad. You know you don't need it but it's hard to not do it when in your life that "thing" gives you some simulated joy. Especially when you don't have a whole lot of things in life that make you happy.
This is the most basic thing and it’s pretty much what they were saying. None of them denied that it was predatory, but they’re comfortable financially and already have a budget set up for it. I don’t even have a monthly budget. I have a hard cap. The moment it may exceed what I’d spend on a new game I simply stop. Gambling is very dangerous to those susceptible to addiction and most gacha players I follow (and me) *strongly* discourage people from spending
@@AntiSoraXVI spending isn’t the problem, since it helps you support the game for new updates which is the reason we play them, the problem is when people can’t control themselves and lose their life over a game. But yes, this is what they basically said and I’m not defending it may be predatory but most games are predatory nowadays so you kinda live in them tbh. I don’t view gacha any different form a sports game or any live game out there where you are encouraged to spend to get an advantage or to gain this limited thing other than the fact that it may last more than a year and are free to play
I wonder if Garnt and Joey would keep saying these same arguments if they knew someone with gambling addiction and they saw how much an addiction like that can destroy a person's life. Maybe then they would realize how damaging is the thing they are promoting to young people and stop defending multimillion dollar companies that are profiting off essentially unregulated gambling open to minors. Well I guess if these companies keep sponsoring them and they find the waifus hot it's ok I guess. :)
A lot of people don’t realize how easy it is to fall into a gambling addiction, especially with shit as innocuous as games. As a kid, I was obsessed with arcade games that used gambling elements (like those impossible crane games). When I found out about gatcha games, I was already hooked so it only took a few weeks for me to spend hundreds of dollars (and subsequently be banned from all types of gambling by my parents). It’s been about 5 years since then and in that time, I grew up and realized just how much of a problem I “used to” have. A few weeks ago, I wondered if I was still addicted so I downloaded a gatcha game to test it. I spent $30 in 10 minutes before I realized what I was doing and deleted the game. This shit is so easy to fall into and, as far as I can tell, it never goes away. It’s really scummy to target this stuff at kids and really irresponsible of Joey and Garnt to promote it. But unfortunately, they’re in the hardcore denial phase and have enough disposable income that they’re not gonna hit rock bottom any time soon. Hell, with videos and sponsorships, they’ve probably made more money from gatcha than they’ve lost
They aren't saying it's not harming or predatory as a matter of fact they say it's predatory for sure, but it's not a scam either as the chance is stated (in most game at least) and people still jumping anyway. So it's on the person itslef
I'm a low budget Genshin player, just have the Welkin and BP pass and I'm so close to spending money on primos but I'm glad that this video exists and brings my rationality back on track lol. Definitely saving this video in case I got tempted again.
Not me, but one of my m8s. He spent about $1,500 to get his waifu. He didn't get her. Edit: He informed me that he knows two people who spent much more than he did.
This is my argument against gacha. You're gambling to get a character you might not be guaranteed, maybe for certain storylines and nvm the bragging rights that come with it, but tell me any other genre that you'd drop over $100 for one dlc character or skin? I know value is subjective, but Jesus Christ, I'ma start judging people's values any second now.
I spent £300 ($400) on Heroes of Dragon Age a few years and, at the time, it was easy to justify and worryingly easy to do. It wasn't enough to affect me financially, but looking back it doesn't feel like the smartest thing I've ever done and I'm determined not to do something like that again. I'm really into Genshin Impact right now but haven't spent a penny and am lucky to have pulled some good 5* characters. I've been tempted to spend a little here and there but have managed to resist.
man it is nice to see Connor for once have a point and Joey and Garnt being way too generous to the makers of gacha games like they aren't trying to take advantage of people who can't help themselves
What is Joey talking about making the drink at home is more like the equivalent of googling the image of the waifu because you don't even like the game itself
Do not spend money on gacha unless you are 100% okay with never seeing that money again. I have never spent an amount I regret because I never spend unless I know that I will never regret it.
I only spend on monthly packages that 100% tell you what you're getting. Never try to "spend just a bit to see if you're lucky" if you don't have self control.
Garnt: “Yknow a typical sesh out drinking with the boys is, £100-200” Me: JESUS....CHRIST garnt! Where are you going, and what are you doing in London? If I go somewhere and the drinks are £10....I’m NOT buying drinks there. I seriously don’t think I’ve spent $100 ion a night out in my ENTIRE life. No joke. $100-200 is like....anniversary with your significant other, nice restaurant, date night tier of spending. I would be CRUSHED if I spent that on a night out with friends. Also, I know UK drinking culture is very different, they’re much more into “pub crawls” and the like where you go from pub to pub to pub and order something at each one. I just.....don’t like doing that. I want to go to 3 places max and I’m only ordering food or drinks at 2 of the three max.
If you loose in casino, you just lose money. If you don't get desirable girl in gacha - you still get something else. That's how gacha and gambling are different. And it's not the same like alcohol addiction. You can just f2p those games or spend reasonable money (game developers deserve to be paid for the game they develop, after all) but you can't drink alcohol without harm to your health. I agree that gacha has to be regulated but it's not the same as gambling or drug addiction.
I spent 2000 dollars on December the 16th 2019 trying to get ereshkigal... And sadly I didn't get a single copy, as a consequence I had to push back uni registration for a whole year because that was where that money was supposed to go, I had a job that was supposed to be waiting for me exactly after I graduated with a semester as a margin of error but sadly now that I pushed it a whole year, that job is mine no more. Whenever I'm browsing reddit, and I stumble upon a piece of art of ereshkigal, I cry myself to sleep.
Shouldn't it be a bit of both in game regulations, and education? Yeah the games should have a system to stop people from spending too much, but that's not really a solution because people will find a way around it I think the most important thing is for people to be educated around gacha culture, those who have addictive tendencies and know they have them should stay far away from this type of games, and people should know how to control themselves when spending money. In conclusion, while yes people can go broke for spending in gacha games, and games should have a way to prevent that, the blame shouldn't be only on the games, but also on the people who fall victim to such tactics
I started playing Genshin a few months ago and invested around 25€. Fortunately it took me 2 6 stars characters to realize that I was totally fine with my 4 stars charas. There're still one or two 6 stars charas I'd love to get but I won't spend thousands of € to get them. If I get them through my little investment + luck, that's nice; if I don't well it won't ruin my gaming experience so I can live without them. I consider exclusive characters as a bonus. The most I could spend on those games are monthly packs (you can cancel whenever you want, it's not a subscription and it doesn't renew) that gives you free summons + other bonuses (not the same as those expensive "crystals" packs that can go up to 99€ and more). This is the only product where I feel like I'm not being ripped off and is also the less predatory one. Btw those monthly packs aren't for people who're aiming to get every single characters as the bonuses you paid for are spread through a long period so people can't expect to get their favorite character instantly with this pack. It's made for people who want only one or two exclusive characters and are ready to get their bonuses at a slower pace. So back to Genshin, there's a few 5* charas I'd love to have for either meta/husbando-waifus reasons: I want a Zhongli for his shield, a Xiao for his AoE damages and an Albedo for his AoE damages and because I love this character (and I love geo). I'm not totally thinking meta but rather a mix of meta/husbandos-waifus: I want a chara that I like who can make my team stronger/more versatile. I won't stop playing the game if I don't get them (or if I get another 5* chara instead), the game is still enjoyable without 5* charas (I don't even use my 5* charas in the end). So if you're gonna start playing gacha games, spend some time gathering info to see if it's not harmful for you (especially if you have an addictive personality). Know your financial limits and enjoy what the games gives you first before chasing your favorite waifus/husbandos.
I think moderation is the keyword, I spent like $500 between 3 gachas in 2020 and honestly only regret a specific moment where I impulsively spent $50 and got nothing lol

@@InvaderZ1 so steal them? Or the f2p games? F2p games are made to exploit people I don't buy them at all I wouldn't even take them for free. It's only free to get the whales hooked. When you go outside to order a drink at a club you pay for one drink almost the same amount as if you buy the whole bottle at the licor store. You are not paying extra for the fancy cup, or the bartender mixing the drink, you are paying this much because the owners of the club know they can get away with it. Connor is right in that you have to calculate extra costs to a selling price like cost of service, transportation/storage, etc. but also the most important one : profit. For example you can sell a drink or an item for 3 times it's "original" price to cover the production/service costs as well as making some profit, or you could sell it for 10 times as much and make a lot more profit (if you can get away with it is based on competition, type of customers, laws, etc....). So in the end it's almost the same as with gacha.
Yes. I do it but for me I don't regret it because it's more the experience. Okay I don't regret it immediately.. ..once I realise that I am spending money on something that I don't value more than a moment of gratification that I will forget the feeling of within hours.. I will Still, that's life in general for me. There's little I spend on myself, in this life that I truely value, over time so what's the difference..
Spending money when you’re not rich in general feels like a waste. In the US you can save for a trip, go on it and have a wonderful time, have a medical issue as soon as you get back, and now you regret the trip cause that could’ve paid your medical bills...
The most satisfying part is being a f2p that got a character by taking your time saving and laugh at people who spent thousands and didn't get anything.
I'm so glad most people are with Connor on this. Listen, I love Genshin Impact but that thing is a gambling machine. I was really annoyed how Joey and Garnt kept denying that fact. I love Joey and Garnt but they are in denial that they are gambling addicts. They don't think they are gambling addicts because they gamble on waifus instead of money.
It's funny because off of memory, I'm sure Garnt acknowledges the potential harm and issues that Gachas could have on his Gacha video. But obviously based on this video, his spending in Gacha has been normalized.
@@PK_Scratch I think he understands gacha games can be harmful but he doesn't want to admit it. Because admitting gacha games are gambling means he's also admitting he's a gambling addict. There's nothing wrong being a gambling addict but companies should be held accountable like Connor says. Hell, I'm a gambling addict too. I spent couple hundred dollars on Genshin.
@@Kim1234g at least in genshin if you plan right, you can guarantee a character without spending anymoney. In other games you could drop 200 and not get a character you want
I mean if you can control not wanting EVERY SINLGE new 5 star character that releases in genshin, you can just save up the primos and guaranteed a 5 star character that you want the most with the pity system. For this to work you actually have to play the game and do events, though. The rates could certainly be better in genshin, but it has a pity system and you don’t actually need any of the new characters or weapons to do everything in the game (The weapon and standard banner is an actual scam though, pls don’t spend your precious primos on those banners.) It’s just luxury at the end of the day. And to go off on a tangent, I also feel like comparing genshin to other standard gacha games is a bit weird since genshin’s game quality is on a different level compared to azur lane and FGO from what those games offer and the quality of it. The amount of detail and effort that goes into a single character in genshin is a lot + all the soundtracks, and voice lines for every archon quest in 4 different languages, top tier voice actors are cast in the game and so much more.. so to just end my stupid comment, I think calling genshin a gambling machine is too much imo. You’re ofc free to disagree. I agree with with what both Connor and Joey/ Garnt had to say though. There are many problems with gambling in gacha games in general and that there should be better regulations for it.
The fact they even tried to compare gacha games to going to a bar. Connor should have said imagine you go to a bar and you want a beer you go up to the bartender and the bartender says that will be 20 bucks maybe you'll get the beer maybe you'll get soda or water maybe you'll get something better but no matter what you get even if its just tap water you aren't getting your 20 back even though the beer is 6 dollars. That's what gacha games basically are.
I personally have no problem with spending on a game; DLC's, costumes if I like em, and the like. And I don't really have any problem with the idea of spending on gacha nor do I have any problem with people who spend on these games. (as a matter of fact, I envy them. I wish I had that much money to spend) BUT I just find it ridiculous that I have to spend so much for one character; that it technically costs, God forbid, 10-50 times more than full-priced games. If we'd take the amount earned from pulling a certain SSR, for example; I bet it would be enough to create a full game in itself with that character as lead. (Plus sequels) But of course, that's why it's the way it is; it brings in a lot of cash. But personally, it's just not worth it. (I really do wish I have that much money to spend either way... I'll just try to make do with my un-upgraded SSR's)
as someone who doesn't go out much, i do also think, If my social skills were normal, I'd be going out at least once a week. I'd do the research and say at the bare minimum i spend $20. Ok since i dont go out i'll use those $20 for my gacha games (which currently are only MKT and Genshin). Especially now during covid. Also people who are saying just PNG/3D model, uhhh those you actually keep for longer than food and drinks that you digest and shit/piss out later. So essentially, IN ONE WAY, it is a waste of money. But then again they are a necessity to live. I would more closely relate the luxury of being able to eat out than the actual groceries you buy. Basic groceries very important. Luxury take out not entirely. Or to be more specific, over eating on takeout. Im pretty sure i didnt make sense lmao still people will come at me.
Nah bro you made a good point. it really comes down to people knowing their limits on how much they are willing to spend imo. I had to agree with joey and garnt just a bit more.
Spending money on non-gacha entertainment is a guaranteed experience, you can spend 200 bucks on a night out and get a garanteed and tangible cool experience. But on gacha, you spend 200 bucks at a "chance" for a cool experience. One could get a 5 star drop on a single free pull or one could spend essentially fuckloads of money and get only 3 star garbage, but on like a trip to a restaurant with the bois, you know what you're gonna get.
If someone made me spend $200 on a night out I’d actually hate them because, surprise, I don’t really value going out for drinks or spending exuberant amounts of money on food “with the boys.” What sounds like a tangible “cool” experience to you sounds like a $200 waste of time to me I feel like it’s such an easy concept to understand: if they enjoy it within moderation (like alcohol) then why are you trying to tell them what to do?
@@AntiSoraXVI i used the night out as an example, but it applies with literally anything other than gacha, spending 200 bucks on a game you really want, or on dlc for a game you love, or on better parts for your pc, etc
@@mailpack584 yes and I used your example to show that it doesn’t matter. What sounds like a waste to you is fun for someone else and vice versa. People do not need to share your opinion on something to justify spending money on it. “Spending $200 on a game you want or dlc for a game you love” applies because, shocking, there are games attached to the gacha (Gacha games, if you will). I think gacha is predatory as much as the next guy, but this whole “why spend money on this, when you can spend it on this thing I perceive as more valuable.” Mindset people have is a bit annoying.
To me, the big issue with gacha games is the sheer aggressiveness of the monetization schemes they employ. Sure, you can be free-to-play, but then you don't get all these COOL NEW THINGS they are constantly releasing. Most of the games have absolutely abysmal odds of getting meaningful rewards from the gacha, and those odds generally become worse the more you spend (maxing out on dupes, etc.). In some games, powercreep essentially requires you to regularly invest in the gacha if you want to play the game competitively (or at all), or nullifies your past investment when a new character comes out that is a better version of one you already put time/money into. Even with all of this aggressive marketing and design, it wouldn't be as bad if not for the obscene prices for premium currency. You can easily spend $100 on currency for pulls and not even get a SSR, much less the one you want. $100 is not chump change - that is almost the price of two full AAA games by itself. There has really been a trend in the gaming industry to push the furthest limits of what their consumers are willing to pay with things like expensive gacha currency and $20 cosmetics, and it needs to be recognized for what it is, which is predatory behavior designed to separate people from as much of their money as possible while decreasing the value of the product provided. Why spend years and millions of dollars developing a good game when you can just re-skin a character and sell it for $15 each? While Connor's point about regulating spending may be difficult for some, these game companies will never just decide to make less money on their own, and change will have to come through regulatory action or through boycotting their products (which people seem generally unwilling to do). TLDR; it's not just that the gambling component is problematic, it's that the gambling is so incredibly expensive for what you get that really maximizes the problem.
"It's not a scam because I know what I'm getting into" So it's an exploitative system that you're "willingly" subjecting yourself to. How is that any better? Gatcha is just worse lootboxes, change my mind
Connor think people use too much money on gacha games Cultured people: ITS FOR THE WAIFUS AND HUSBANDOS AND CUTE ANIMALS Serious not though, make sure you be careful with money spending and Make sure if you are making the right judgement. Good luck on any of your rolls anyone for any gacha games.
Joey garnt you're is not a scam....its worse. Its gambling for children. There have already been multiple studies done on gacha games, loot boxes, etc. It's gambling for children and it needs to be regulated
I’m actually with Joey and Garnt on this one. If you see $100 spent on a night out for drinks, food, ambience and good vibes with friends as being an appropriate price for what you’re getting, there are other people out there who don’t see going out as worthy of their money as much as spending it on gatcha. We all judge different things as more or less worthy of spending our time and money on. I for one enjoy gaming more than going out to bars with friends. That’s not to say I don’t enjoy hanging out with friends but I do NOT have as much fun going out to bars with friends as I would staying inside with friends chilling and playing games/watching movies together. As a result, I see spending money on games more enjoyable than spending money on drinks out at bars. TLDR, everyone chooses what they are frugal about spending money on and what they don’t mind spending money on. Connor needs to come to terms with the fact that there are people out there that see $100 spent on gatcha as just as reasonable and worthwhile as spending $100 on a night out with friends, and that has nothing to do with how the gatcha has “manipulated” them. It’s just what they see different things as being worth. Some of us have different priorities and that’s ok.
i can see ur point but u did not get his point fully by going out and spending money u get a gurranted service that u will enjoy by spending money on gacha u get the chance to get what u are paying for thus that might cause u to make a quick judgement and spend extra money on something or overpay basically gacha exploits the same mechanisms as gambling that might lead to addictions thus where u and me might control ourselfs from going overboard with our spending others cant waste too much
@@Frosty__45 well, I mean it’s totally valid and ok if people want to spend money on gambling if it’s something they enjoy. Responsible gamblers exist and there’s nothing wrong with viewing just a chance at getting something as worth it. Also gatcha games usually have more to them than just the gatcha elements. There’s plenty of stuff you can do in genshin and Arknights without spending a dime. I’m not saying that these games don’t sometimes lean into predatory practices, but that’s less of the argument I’m trying to make, I’m just saying that if someone enjoys gatcha or gambling for that matter, and does so in a way that’s not overextending their budget or anything like that there’s not really anything wrong with doing so. Also, I don’t think Connor is willing to accept that people can view “wasting” money on gatcha and the chance of receiving a good pull as just as enjoyable and worthwhile as hanging out with friends and receiving guaranteed physical rewards, which is a completely valid mindset.
Damn, gacha games are an evil system. its so scummy what they can get away with... this is a very informative video! Anyways, who's up for some whaling for xiao with the boys?
As someone who plays FGO, I played free to play for a long time. I only started spending money this year and only in small amounts. I realised how easily tempted someone can be when I actually considered buying a $60 pack and realising it would be the same as The Witcher 3 with full DLC on special on Steam for the same amount, a game i had wanted for to play for the longest time. When you compare the value of the product in those terms, no waifu is worth it.
When i just went to university, my mother saved up about 7k for side expenses during my studies. I downloaded a stupid mobile game from DeNa called blood brothers, which i didn’t know was a gatcha. After a while i got so addicted that i spent like 2-3k on that game and about 1k on LoL. Removing it from my phone was about one of the hardest things i ever did, and i deeply regret doing so. And know i was a pretty broke student beside that 7k. Every time i play a gatcha game now i make sure not to spend more than i would pay for a triple A game which is like around 30$ That stupid game didn’t even have waifus man...
Joey was right though. I used to gacha too, but when I didnt get the character I want on the day of its release, I eventually get the character weeks or months after the event ended. So IT IS like paying a drink on a bar then you pour the same drink when youre at home after...
Gacha games give a sense of progression as you build your account. However, we need to know that these are not permanent and will be gone one day. I know that a lot of people think that it is far away, but time passes quicky when we don't pay attention. Games must be played as a way to unwind, not as something that we treat as our career.
Connor is 100% right there should be a limit that can be programmable on how much you want to spend, you can set like $300 and as soon as you reach that the game doesnt let you put in more money until next month or week
Joey and Garnt have seemed to spend this whole podcast being super defensive every time Connor points out the predatory practices of lootboxes/gatcha, super annoying
Personally, I'm somebody who spends on gacha from time to time, and even I think their arguments were pretty poor. They have the safety net of being able to make back their expenses from monetizing and don't see how it could be a problem with impulsive average wage people. There's really no rationalizing it, just something people prefer to spend on. That's how I see it.
Tbh i never regret spending any money on a gacha game but that might be due to me only buying special pack like monthly card or a skin straight from the shop and not really spend on pulling a character, cause that is where i draw my line when spending money in gacha game
Yet he's the one that spend 800 bucks on impulse to "brute force" content. Always set your own limits beforehand, people with no self control (like Connor) shouldn't play gacha games because it's clearly not healthy for them.
The only gatcha I play is genshin, because I love the combat mechanics. I never spent money on it nor do I plan to, because I don't need all the characters or resources to enjoy the game. I find it more satisfying to grind for months and wait for that one character I find super cool and then summon in that. It feels rewarding.
I don't think there's any problem in spending money on Gacha. Whether you're playing fps, moba or gacha games, they are for the most part, a hobby. Any activity becomes a hobby because you're happy doing it and investing time on it. With Gacha, spending money is like self investing on yourself to make yourself happy. How it makes a person happy is up to them. I spend money on paint for my airbrush to nake gunpla and I spent a lot on it. So technically, i could've spent that on Genshin. The problem isn't the spending. The problem is about the control. If you're out of control, then it becomes a problem because it will probably ruin an aspect of your life. In summary, Connor's right. Connor is big brain.
I have regretted spending money on some games. I have multiple friends who have as well. Many of them have also said they've felt pressured into buying things in-game. Do you want to know something interesting? There are regulations to how you can do advertisements. Guess what doesn't abide by such regulations? Microtransaction ads in-game. I don't think microtransactions are bad, neither is gacha. However, it's just ridiculous how they get away with manipulative behavior and people even defend it.

That's a textbook example of "rationalizing". This feels like an intervention lol.

I watched a TH-camr that said he'd go mostly F2P, only welkin and BP, and guess what? he's spent money on nearly every character banner that's been released, and he's lost the 50/50 on 3 out of 6 of the banners making him go even further on the spending, now he's even considering going for the weapon banner, this is the kind of people these games are designed for, the people that can't help but go "just a little more and I'll get them"
@@icenmeteor3489 its basically just basic economics and marketing, just save and roll for any character that you need and really like and if every character is what they liked then it is their problem, they needed to learn priority assessment if they CANNOT or dont have the money (like me) to whale on every characters. Almost all companies create those artificial scarcites in order to push and sell their products, some are tame, some are hyper aggressive, some are outright forces you to pay.

Gacha's still scummy as hell though, and it should be regulated to keep the people that simply can't control themselves from ruining their lives, there's always going to be personal responsabilty involved, but when the games are engineered to target impulsive spenders with tendencies toward gambling, addiction and lack of self control some of the responsibility has to fall on the publishing company.
its not 400 but i agree gacha is predatory
Connor is 100% right, to be honest. I find it hard to justify spending $79.99 on 55 summons worth of Saint Quartz when that could get me a permanent copy of a video game that has anywhere between 20-100+ hours of gameplay and a nice lunch afterwards. Especially when 55 summons doesn't guarantee that you'll get anything you were aiming for.

Saying to a person that they just need will power has the same vibe as saying to a depressed person to just be happy.
Exactly! Addiction can only be broken through habituation. If you can't break your bad habits by developing new, more healthy ones, then you'll forever be stuck in this loop.

This episode in particular is so hard for me to watch because of their arguments basically.

Connor: I don't like gacha games I think they are predatory and manipulative.....
Thank you to Arknights for sponsoring this video!
The boys can argue about the predatory practices in casinos and gacha games all they want, but we all know the real scam is the lottery.
There are regulations such as a bartender should stop serving the customer if the customer had too much drink, but a dealer won't stop a player from betting on the table when he kept losing.
Basically everything is a scam in this world, we are made to believe we got something of value but actually it's all made-believe with jacked up price tags.
Not many people would ask simple question: [Who and how are prices determined and why?]
But we have to live with it, otherwise economy will fail.

Paid "guaranteed" banners are in a sense more reassuring but most times it's a "guaranteed 5 star above UNIT" rather than the character that you actually wanted
I do agree that if you don't like gambling then gacha games isn't for you, however some steadily growing franchises all end up being a fucking gacha game one way or another. And even then "not playing" just feels like you're missing out on a portion of that franchise, which really sucks.
And telling people who got into gacha to "just stop playing gacha" is like telling a crack addict to stop doing crack, but maybe not to that extent, but the point is there
uh, conclusion is, throwing dollars on jpeg not rlly epic move, buy body pillows instead
"Bro just quit the gacha bro" Is like "stop being sad bro if you are depressed"
Gacha pulls, same with roulettes, are legit designed to visually turn on your dopamine receptors.
Let be honest here, if Joey and Garnt went broke via gacha games they'd just make it into a video.

when it comes to gacha I just buy the monthly pack and always set a budget aside for me to spend, it's all about having self-control because once you start rolling you will want to get the character you like ,don't distinguish
gacha from gambling and also don't feel pressure to roll if you have to wait a year to get that character, you shouldn't feel bad about missing a character it's just a game so just enjoy it as such nobody is forcing you to play it if you feel like it's too much take a break or stop playing it gacha addiction is a real problem.
The denialism is too strong in this video
I'm a low budget Genshin player, just have the Welkin and BP pass and I'm so close to spending money on primos but I'm glad that this video exists and brings my rationality back on track lol. Definitely saving this video in case I got tempted again.
Not me, but one of my m8s. He spent about $1,500 to get his waifu. He didn't get her.
Edit: He informed me that he knows two people who spent much more than he did.
@Soraia ljubtschenko Motta It's ironic because he doesn't play that game anymore
What game?
I remember some time ago Connor was on every single ark knights advertisement I encountered
EA gonna watching this and come up with a plan to sponsor garnt and joey.
Connor is my new hero! Lootboxes, etc etc should follow the same regulations as normal gambling.
Garnt: “Yknow a typical sesh out drinking with the boys is, £100-200”
Me: JESUS....CHRIST garnt!
Seriously. If it costs you that much money to get drunk with your friends, you’re drinking wrong.
Joey and Garnt have the same minds as every Gacha player ! Waifu is Life-fu xD
0:24 They should make a poll and post the link into this clips, would be interested to see how scientific the result is lol.
Yeah the games should have a system to stop people from spending too much, but that's not really a solution because people will find a way around it
I think the most important thing is for people to be educated around gacha culture, those who have addictive tendencies and know they have them should stay far away from this type of games, and people should know how to control themselves when spending money.
In conclusion, while yes people can go broke for spending in gacha games, and games should have a way to prevent that, the blame shouldn't be only on the games, but also on the people who fall victim to such tactics
I see grant is not trying to burn bridges for future gatcha sponsors lol.
Why spend money on sexy pngs when google exists
You could have bought a console n a real game with that money lol
@The Second First Crusader ok put it this way, could buy 10 games at £50 each for £500. No game is worth £500 especially a game that plays it self lol
@@dbfzato-1327 Why are you buying games in the first place? There was a moment of weakness in my life where I had a PS4 and had to keep buying games. Realised my stupidity coz that shit really adds up. Sold my PS4, am now a strictly PC only user and can enjoy games for free.
@@InvaderZ1 so steal them? Or the f2p games? F2p games are made to exploit people I don't buy them at all I wouldn't even take them for free. It's only free to get the whales hooked. Like how a crack dealer would give you the first hit free. F2p is scum and infecting AAA games, consoles are easier to play games on (less fiddly) as well and the mutilplayers not full of Cheaters, I have a pc but i still wouldn't play f2p money sinks
@@dbfzato-1327 I have played my fair share of F2P games but I have never spent a dime on them so I guess it's really up to a person's personality. Funny when people say certain games are predatory or made to exploit people because I've never been exploited once. I thank the whales for funding the games for me.
Maybe you could just call me a casual gamer but I just don't see the point in spending money on games when it could be used on things like buying food and going out with friends.
As mentioned, I had a console before, had my fair share of gaming and at this point in my life, I look back and only feel like I should have saved that money instead. Maybe it was just the way I was raised. To each his own.
I will
Still, that's life in general for me.
@@sinthebay oh I know. I mean it's not gacha but i spent 400$ on Apex Legends and got jack shit.
Lootboxes and gacha they are all gambling.
Hanging out with the mates: Night out with the boys.
Pulling on Gacha: Night out with the girls.
Pulling on FGO: Night out with the femboys.
as someone who doesn't go out much, i do also think, If my social skills were normal, I'd be going out at least once a week.
If someone made me spend $200 on a night out I’d actually hate them because, surprise, I don’t really value going out for drinks or spending exuberant amounts of money on food “with the boys.” What sounds like a tangible “cool” experience to you sounds like a $200 waste of time to me
I feel like it’s such an easy concept to understand: if they enjoy it within moderation (like alcohol) then why are you trying to tell them what to do?
Connor is basically trying to talk crack addicts trying to justify it.
The one step that ever so slightly removes gacha games from being a straight scam, is the thin veneer of gamification and pretty colours/pictures
lmao connor comin thru with facts and logic
"It's not a scam because I know what I'm getting into"
So it's an exploitative system that you're "willingly" subjecting yourself to. How is that any better?
Gatcha is just worse lootboxes, change my mind
Look guys, we've all experienced a moment of weakness...

DLCs are acceptable (to a certain extent), but I'm with Connor on this one.
Joey garnt you're is not a scam....its worse. Its gambling for children.
There have already been multiple studies done on gacha games, loot boxes, etc.
It's gambling for children and it needs to be regulated
I agree with Connor that regulations and hard limits need to exist; however I also see Joey and Garnt’s point about money
Ive been playing fgo for years now and i wholeheartedly agree with connor.

Every time i play a gatcha game now i make sure not to spend more than i would pay for a triple A game which is like around 30$
That stupid game didn’t even have waifus man...

I cant wait for the responses on our takes on gacha games
tbh i love being a free to play player so i can brag my luck to those that spend thousands for 1 ssr lol
Connor is 100% right there should be a limit that can be programmable on how much you want to spend, you can set like $300 and as soon as you reach that the game doesnt let you put in more money until next month or week

Bro if I was Connor I would’ve completely lost my cool knowing I was damn right
Yet he's the one that spend 800 bucks on impulse to "brute force" content. Always set your own limits beforehand, people with no self control (like Connor) shouldn't play gacha games because it's clearly not healthy for them.
@@silentKeys20 what is the context of what you're talking about???
