I think Far Easedale is one of the prettiest Lakeland valleys . You need to go back later in the year when the bracken is green - it's stunning!

It’s certainly a lovely place, Nick. Somewhere I definitely intend revisiting.

Thanks Sally. Glad you enjoyed it. Just left with an irritating cough now. Should be OK for our 4-day adventure to start 2025.
      Happy New Year.

I stayed at the Ullswater Inn last month and really enjoyed it, had two days of nice walking. Albeit had a hacking cold, but loved it.
Watching your video for ideas in the area and didn't realise Sergeant Man is close by, I might add that on to this walk. Hope you and Charlie had a good Xmas. Me and Islay are back up there in March. Best wishes for 2025.

We had a good time at the Ullswater Inn, but not sure it was worth what they charged. There must be something about the place and germs, as I now have the worst flu I’ve ever had!
Yes, you could add on Sergeant Man and even maybe High Raise.
      Happy hiking in 2025.

@TonysTrails I signed up to their newsletter thing and came through with random offers. 23rd to 24th December £20!
I am back there in March £43.50! 👍😊

Hello Tony. I don't drive, so what Fells would be the easiest to access by train or bus?

Hello. We live just outside the lake district in north Cumbria. We use the 554 from Carlisle and the 555 ( Keswick to Kendal)
This gets us access to all the fells based round the main towns. Everything from the Borrowdale valley/ Fairfield horse shoe./ Skiddaw / Latrigg etc around Derwentwater. We have been round Coniston area/ St John's in the vale. It is surprising what you xan get to. It is only outlying places such as Black Combe and Wasdale that are tricky. Although you can get to Scafell from Borrowdale !
Hope this helps. We use the bus to try to keep at least 1 car out of the area
      Good luck

Good advice Heather. The 554 & 555 are good routes (if I get over this flu we’ll be using the 554 on Friday).

Don't get caught out like I did last week! It is a Saturday service all week this week! No bus on New years Day. Then a Sunday service next Sunday! If that makes any sense at all cheers

      Hi Albert.
The Lakes are fairly well covered by buses, but unfortunately Beeching put paid to most of the rail links. If you are coming by train there are good bus links from Carlisle, Penrith & Kendal.
I’ve attached a link to the Stagecoach “The Lakes by Bus” leaflet current timetable, but I believe there are additional services during the summer. There aren’t really many hills you can’t get to by bus.

So glad you told me that, Heather. Having just checked the Saturday times I hope the 93 is on time as I won’t have long to change buses!

Great video and good weather for a change! Think we’ll do this walk sometime as we haven’t done many from Grasmere.
My wife got tickets for a west end show in London on the 12th April for Christmas! Can we rearrange Lords Rake or would that eat into your plans too much?? We can do anytime really apart from the weekend of the 10th of May.

Thanks Darren. Yes, good to have decent weather for a change.
If you fancy a BIG day in the hills you could do the route I did the first time I did Tarn Crag:
Up the way we came down on this one, carry on to High Raise, then back over Sergeant Man, Blea Rigg & Silver How.
I’ll get back to you about rearranging Lord’s Rake - I’m currently laid up with flu 🤧

@ Ah no way! Hope you get well soon!
That walk sounds like a plan. We need to tick all of those off anyway. 👍

Me too, Darren. We’re supposed to be setting off on the first of our multi-day adventures on Friday and all the hotels are booked and paid for!
Let us know how you get on if you do that route. I can’t remember just how long it is, but I was fit to drop by the end.

I've uploaded the GPX files for that walk. It's not as long as I thought - 10 miles.

@ That looks a great walk. Might try that out this weekend if the weather holds up (not that I’m expecting that to happen!)
