I like cheap wine and expensive beer, give me some Franzia Chillable Red any day. Put it in the freezer until it's almost frozen (give it some tartness) and I can drink on that nectar for half a week.
Thanks for the comment! You are definitely not alone in your thought - many box wines are just as good as bottled wine. We've been seeing the quality improve even more over the past few years.
First off, Black Box is good, decent wine. I hesitated trying it for years until recently. I flat out got tired of buying $9-15 bottles of wine, splitting them with my wife and off they go to the trash. I just want a daily, affordable sipper. I go to a grocery Walmart in Waynesboro, Va. and they sell Black Box for $17.99. Think about that. That's 4 bottles of eminently drinkable wine that stays fresh in the bag outside the fridge for 6 weeks! Sold! I'm a believer. Way easier on the environment too.
I love boxed wine. Cheaper than bottled wine lol. Boxed wine last longer and if you drop the bottle it breaks. You can drop the box lol. Kirkland boxed cabernet sauvignon from Costco is really good. The price is $13 equivalent to 4 bottle of wine. The quality is really good.
I just bought my first boxed wine about a week ago after the bottled wine I was buying went up to $12.99 a bottle, so I tried Bota Box wine and it's less expensive !
@@Elmaliquor, ___She didn't actually say she liked it. 🤔🙄🤪 I'm not exactly a wine connoisseur, but I don't think I could get over the waste... all the plastic & cardboard. (But I suppose what's six to one is half a dozen to the other; the choice between either increased waste from the box wine, or increased waste from the higher fuel costs of carting the bottles around.)
There are some good boxed wines out there. My favorite is a 100% Sangiovese called "Bibi Graetz Rosso Toscana" which is a great everyday wine, and also the McManis Petite Sirah from Lodi, California is very good. I am happy to buy boxed wines if I find a good one, as they can be very good value and are extremley practical.
I think it depends on what type of wine I just tried Black Box Sauvignon Blanc and it is horrible. I likened the taste to the smell of dog urine . It's possible one of their other varieties of wine taste better. I've also noticed that cheaper wines tend to have varying alcohol content and you can't always go by ABV printed on the bottle or box. I once bought a bottle of Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc and I got inebriated after 8 ounces. I tried the same bottle later and it's affect on me wasn't the same The Black Box Blanc again got me inebriated quicker compared to the same type of wine I had in a bottle of Cupcake
I don’t really like drinking wine (i prefer vodka, beer, tequila, hard seltzer etc) but sometimes i do like to have a good box of red wine. Can’t drink white though because it makes me a dangerous sociopath.
They vary a bit depending on how much you pour and where they are stored, but most producers advise about 6 weeks now. You may get longer if you keep it in the fridge.
Most box wines have a "best by" or "freshest if consumed by" date - it is not a true expiration date. As long as it hasn't been contaminated with anything it should be fine to taste. Sometimes they last months after that date, sometimes not so much.
True. But you do get some Cabs out of a box that compete with general California Cabs - take Estancia for example, they just started packaging their Paso Robles Cab in a 3L box.
Not that I am aware of. The makers of Barefoot - the Gallo Family - does have some other box wine brands such as Peter Vella, Carlo Rossi, and Vin Vault.
There actually is better and better wine in boxes all the time. Estancia recently released their Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in three liter boxes. The former retails for about $40. I think we will see even more and more better quality wines in boxes in the coming years.
If you STILL don't realize it's bad for you JUST LOOK UP HOW IT'S MADE. Good luck. They hide that info in detail. Just search "is boxed wine real wine" and you'll find a million dodges of the question and piles of camouflage word fluff about how we shouldn't look down on it because of the packaging. They won't get near the actual question.

Thanks for sharing! Chillable Red is definitely better cold.
Try Vella sweet red, tastes better
You on point with that Chillable Red though!! The best.
To hell with the connoisseurs! I've blind taste tested box wines with expensive bottle wines for decades & in most cases, the boxed was just as good.

Glad you enjoyed it! Bota Box makes a great product 🍷

Yes love boxed wine. I have few nice bottles I pull out for anniversary and holidays but regular drinking boxed wine all day.
I actually love box wines, but nothing beats red moscato in a bottle. 😊
Glad you know what you like! Enjoy!

How much
I saw the Franzia and then the Barefoot behind you and I got flashbacks from college. 😂
Still love my Franzia
What kind of of wine doesn't have vinegar taste?
Do you have Robertson wine in box

Hello great review. I have a question. How long does box wine last after opening......?

@@Elmaliquor Thank you very much✌
@@jameswiles4858 You're welcome. Sorry for the delay!
In your store, what is the best selling brand of box wine?
Franzia and Almaden are still the best selling brands overall; but Black Box and Bota Box are catching up fast.
Yes I like them, they work very good. I was pleasantly surprise.
Love it.
Box wine is bug-out wine!!!!
I have a hilarious mental image of a bug out bag with a box of franzia and a high point 🤣
I love boxed wine personally! I could care less what snobs say! Drink up what you like 👍 cheers 🍷
Great information
The black box merlot is superb if you have one thing in mind, 😵
Great video
Im a california red person, anyone else? Its the best pair with sharp cheese or if you want to make a cheese board
Can't beat a good California Red!
they need less sulphur for boxed wine. less oxygen and light
Hi
It safe to drink if wine was already expired??
Most box wines have a "best by" or "freshest if consumed by" date - it is not a true expiration date. As long as it hasn't been contaminated with anything it should be fine to taste. Sometimes they last months after that date, sometimes not so much.
Your not gonna get a cab that competes with a nice napa cab out of a box. But for weekday sauvignon blanc or rose, black box and bota box are great!!
True. But you do get some Cabs out of a box that compete with general California Cabs - take Estancia for example, they just started packaging their Paso Robles Cab in a 3L box.
Does 'Barefoot Wine' come in a box?
Not that I am aware of. The makers of Barefoot - the Gallo Family - does have some other box wine brands such as Peter Vella, Carlo Rossi, and Vin Vault.
they do now, they also come in cans as well.
Barbara G my favorite wine ever, in my area they have a small bottle750ml for @10.50 I don't know why? But still love it.
Barefoot does make 3L boxes of some of their wines now.
Putting sugar cubes, in wine would make taste good.
If you like things sweet then that would definitely work 😁
it taste good so you like to think it good for you
Great thought process!
Why don't good wine makers use the box idea? Box wine at present is not very good wine.
Cause bottle wine makers don't make the mass qualities that the box makers do. Box wine is actually pretty decent stuff.
There actually is better and better wine in boxes all the time. Estancia recently released their Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay in three liter boxes. The former retails for about $40. I think we will see even more and more better quality wines in boxes in the coming years.
I haven’t found a red wine I haven’t liked.
