I will say I agree with his assessment. I find most Franzia wine to be a little sweeter than it should be. I usually just buy seltzer water and mix half and half, that actually ends up REALLY delicious. haha
I love how he has progressively shown more of his personality and own opinion on the wines as the series has gone on. His clothes have even become more relaxed. He’s straight up telling us if the wine is crap or not now.
When is Andre going to do a completely blind test? e.g. Only a glass with the wine, he has to guess a price he would pay, then they show him the real price/origination country/label, etc.
It would bust his act, a lot of wine testers cant tell the difference with wine. There was a test where they were blind folded and told wine testers they were drinking cheap wine when they were actually drinking expensive wine and 9/10 times they would think it was cheap bad wine.
@@bobbysmurf9915 The study did research on college student who "took a wine class" not sommeliers. There is another study about wine competition judges who gave different ratings to the same wines when tasted blind but on average they are able to pick out the key tasting notes and determine quality for wines particularly the more popular wines. For the average wine consumer they cannot tell difference between a 20-30 $ bottle vs a 50-100$ bottle. A sommelier ON AVERAGE can. Beginners in wine usually also prefer fruitier and simpler wines. Usually lower tannins, lower acid, very little to no "Non-fruit flavours"
You see, there’s really no point of a blind tasting. For example a same bottle of wine made in France might costs $11 in Europe but can cost $30 in the USA, so tell me, should he guessed it $11 or $30? Plus, an inexpensive wine can be amazing and some expensive wine can be just average. I don’t know why am I telling you this, because your comments basically tell me “I don’t drink wine, I just like to see people fail so I can feel better for myself.” Yeah, good for you, man.
They never will because it will expose the act. Sommeliers are scam artists, there is no difference between the taste of high-end vs low-end wine, and the whole point of being a somme is to hype up the expensive and rare wines that will make money.
These videos with André are the best thing BA is doing right now. And I did like what Brad was doing but I haven't been as into him lately with Claire gone... But loving the André vids.
@@Tinman3187 It is really good. I recommend getting the cans, so they bubbles are always fresh! I find the bottles go flat too fast when only using half a glass for the mix.

We have a saying in Australia about box wine, or goon - specifically Golden Oak - "Fruity Lexia makes you sexier". Box Wine culture in Australia is peak.
The beautiful thing about box wine no air into the bag. Open a bottle the entire bottle is aired. I cook with wine and don't ruin a box by a glass at a time. Ground up deer or bison add wine 😆 Need moisture to reheat a rice dish add wine. Mac n cheese dried out add wine. Water = moisture Wine = flavors Glass is heavy to transport and breakage. Paper and plastic lighter. It's nice to open a great bottle but for everday cooking and drinking 😒 CAN'T beat a box. And don't get me started on clearance time. Deer and wine a great combination. Army AL Live well
The only potential downside of no air, is that when you pour a glass, a bit of patience to let it breath is worth, where with a bottle, the whole thing gets to breathe so your second glass+ you can drink straight away. With a bit of patience though you remove that only downside.
What would be the difference? Generics love throwing ' give own show..give own channel..give presidency...so and so is underrated' stop wirh the tiresome clichés
Black box Cabernet Sauvignon used to be very good but it's gotten progressively sweeter and less structured. Even though six weeks is the suggested drinking window I've found that since air doesn't get into the wine you can keep drinking it as long as propriety allows. Wonderful, much needed and well done review.
I honestly stopped buying the Black Box wine because I was having 5 glasses a night. No accountability when you can’t see the vessel empty out. I didn’t want to become a drunk 😂 so bottled wine for me!
Thanks, man. I love a good boxed wine to keep on hand for cooking. The tricky part is finding the “good”box. This helps. I wish that one of the white wines had stood out :(
Exactly this. I was using two of my wine dispenser's four taps for wine that I use for cooking, but with boxed wine able to stay fresh for several weeks I no longer have to sacrifice this space.
I’m always proud to be an Australian when boxed wine (although we call it “cask wine” or just a goon sack 🤣) is discussed. It was a great invention, but has mostly been used only for terrible, cheap wine til now. The carbon footprint is lower, if recyclable elements are used that’s awesome too, and as Andre explained, it can stay fresh for a long time as no oxygen is introduced into the container when pouring. So, hooray for box wine finally coming into its own! Now if only Australia, the originators, would catch up! Not one of the brands shown is freely available here and most liquor stores here, even the big ones, have a choice of only about 5. I will be watching this space eagerly.
Started watching this show and just wanted to give my 2 cents on the côte du rhone as a French wine seller. What you described was exactly the typical côte du rhone. They are known has being the strongest wine in France similarly to Saint Estephe.
Sandy Giovese (play on sangiovese grape name ) is awesome and it lasts about 3 weeks in the first after opening. Chill it and it really goes with BBQ, pizza, charcuterie. Love this box wine!
In the end, the amount of most of these containers is the same as that of a doublemagnum... or Rehoboam for Champagne. Some wineries like to bottle in 3ltr bottles because they will age slower once in the bottle and stay longer in the cellar this way..
The best box wine I ever had was Vin Vault. The Pinot Noir and the Red Blend were both very enjoyable. I haven't been able to find it online or in stores for at least six years.
I hate wine, but I LOVE this series!! Apparently grabbing the wine closest to the beer section does not make for popular gifts lol... At least now can pick a decent bottle (they still all taste the same to me though)
I honestly don't care that much about wine. Not at any real level. But as god is my witness, this guy is so likeable, compelling and real... I keep watching these vids.
Thank you! I hate pulling out a bottle for casual weeknight dinners. I had been enjoying Usual red wine blend, but the price was higher than I want to pay for a daily wine! I ordered the Sandy Giovese ASAP. I’m really looking forward to trying it out.
Franzia was my go to college get drunk quick and easy with my teammates after a rugby game beverage. We would slap the bag as hard as we could and chug for as long as we could. Definitely very sweet and usually had a massive headache that next morning.
