    Thanks for the video. I just bought the same handles at my Ace Hardware for my 18-inch WSM. I bought the Cajun Bandit Stainless Steel Door and got rid of the thin aluminum door that was just too flimsy. The stainless steel door has a nice sturdy latch system on it and I love the new door. I bought the Cajun Bandit charcoal ring that has tabs on the bottom that allows you set the charcoal grate in the ring, which allows you to remove the charcoal ring and grate in a one piece unit that makes clean-out a breeze. The charcoal ring holes also allows for better air circulation and is stainless steel. I also picked up another charcoal grate at Home Depot that I place 90 degrees over the original charcoal grate which makes for smaller square openings. This allows for more burn time on your charcoal. The other addition I did was putting gasket tape on the top section of the center unit, which gives a good seal for the lid. If you're going to continue using the original door, you might want to put some gasket tape there too. I even use the tape on my stainless steel door. If you're into hanging ribs, the Pit Barrel Cooker makes a rib hanging rack specifically designed for the WSM 18 inch model. Hunsaker Smoker makes a rib hanging rack that fits the WSM 18 and the WSM 22. I can hang 6 to 8 ribs on the rib rack or several chicken halves with my WSM 18. They are the best bang for the buck in smokers! You're going to enjoy your WSM!!

    Nice mods! You’ve given me some great ideas for my 22.5 WSM! I’ve had it for about 10 years and still smokes great!! Finally, hello from Texas Gulf Coast.

    I just installed my handles today. And used a type of spacer to figure out where the handles should be. Thanks for the tip now I can pick it up way better now.

    The only mod I have done is put the door from Cajun Bandit. Big improvement- a lot tighter fit. Might put the caster wheels on. I use white cotton gloves and have Venom Nitrile gloves over that. I can touch the vents with no problem. Plus, I can pick up hot meat with no problem.

    Great series. Does the cover still fit over the hinge / handles ?

    • @JPBBQ
      @JPBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hey there Andrew, appreciate the compliment. The original cover did not fit, so I had to buy the one for the 22 in weber. But for sure one of my favorite series of videos. Had a lot of fun making them. Thanks again

    Nice mods. So how hot did the handles become after firing it up?

    • @JPBBQ
      @JPBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there JG M3 appreciate you watching and commenting. The cool touch handle, not hot at all. the side handles not sure, but i do not think they get but warm to the touch. I use those handle to move the smoker around and once I fire it up I usually dont move it unless it starting to rain. but so far so good.
