    He literally says “what is this place” right before he enters the mushroom world. He and Luigi get knocked through a wall and see a closed off area with pipes where he says “what is this place”. I guess they decided to put it in a different scene but it is still definitely said in the movie

    • @randomness.stupidness

      "closed off area with pipes"
      would that happen to be the pipe zone? or rather the area with 3 pipes that takes you to later worlds?

    • @theablegeek
      @theablegeek ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@randomness.stupidness It could be, there was a lot of reference to previous games, shows etc. I almost got the feeling it was a nod to the original movie, how they go underground and find a portal to another world, in this case the pipes but it could also have been a nod to the secret area of the original game as well.

  • @ZacharyDietze
    @ZacharyDietze ปีที่แล้ว +52

    I imagine they did it because of a few reasons:
    1. They wanted to show off more of his animation, since this is easily by far the most cartoonish looking Illumination movie to date.
    2. Everyone already knows that he’s wondering since they moved the line earlier in the film to the sewers. If he’s curious about that, then one could only imagine how much more curious he is here.
    3. People were worried about Chris Pratt’s voice for Mario. Not only that but it seems like there may have been multiple retakes. For example, compare the "wahoo!" in the trailer with his kart to the final result in the movie itself. There’s a very clear difference to make it sound right.
    4. It’s pointless, we already know he looks very curious even without the moved line or how fluid the animation is. You can just see it in his movement. I’m a bigger fan of subtler details more than I am them making everyone say everything like every other typical Illumination movie does.
    These are all just guesses though, I could be 100% wrong on all of them for all I know. It could also be as easy as them simply forgetting, I dunno. I doubt that since this is Nintendo we’re talking about wanting to maintain their image with details, (Much like Disney now that I think about it, and with similar business practices too) but it’s a possibility.
