One day I would love to frankenplan the EC life planner vertical layout with the EC daily duo and have me an all-in-one planner. I might just do that next year. You are the second person that I have watched frankenplan EC planners.
you can use a pair of half-round jewellery pliers! They're accessible at bead and craft stores, but they're designed with one softer round side to avoid marring the inside of the metal. :)
For me those pages that you didn't know what to do with after the monthly spread can be used for important things that did happen, but weren't planned, so you can look back and go, yep that happened. Also, when you do declutter and have to throw out the books, that one page can be kept and and little things can be remembered. Even if it's a question of the month for your kids, EX What is your favourite colour this month? Favourite show of the month, best dinner, etc. Sometimes one might need to have something that is a break inside the planner to make you smile.
I love how you talk about how a planner has to serve you. I never thought of it that way. I’m so picky about planners and can never find one that fits my needs fully. I never would have thought to do this.
I just uncoiled and combined a bunch of extra pages from previous planners as well as repurposed some unused or partially used pages. It was a leap of faith but so much easier and more satisfying than expected. YAY!!

You could list a few wins, some stats if you want, maybe a favorite memory... Then you have a snapshot of a month on one page that you can keep to remember things, because we all know keeping all the pages means we never look at them again. ;)

This past year (2022) I combined my personal, work, and writing planner all into one Happy Planner and never looked back. It made scheduling so much easier! I didn't have to consult three different calendars or project planners. I think you'll like putting everything in one calendar and just using different sections. The overall monthly part was the most helpful for me and then I color coded all the different activities. The page you don't what to do with: I kind of make this an activity or goal "wishlist" for that month. If I happen to complete an activity or task on the wishlist then I check off, if I didn't get to it, I carry it to the next month. It helps me to see what's attainable, like doing Yoga three times a week.
I Frankenplanned my HB90 digital planner! I wanted a paper and a digital planner this year, but with a small budget and so a little time to make a choice, I decided to just combine my two top choices: I got the HB90 digital planner while it was on discount (which I was so excited to see come out) and the “she is in her apron“ printable planner (also discounted-she doesn’t have a digital planner yet). I took screenshots of the “She’s in her apron“ weekly spread pages and budget pages, and pasted them over the Weekly pages and note page for each week of the HB90 planner in Goodnotes. It doesn’t quite have the space for everything I want to track, but it allows me to track my budget and schedule, while still putting my HB90 goals in my face every day! LOL
👏👏👏 Way the go in making it your own planner to suit your taste. 👏👏👏. I love bookmarks/tags. They are ever so useful and making it easy to reach the place where either I stopped in a book or the place I want to be in a planner.

I attempted to remove the coil once, scratched my coil with the pliers and got too scared to continue. So I ended up spending the next 6 hours individually snipping all the coil holes on the planner pages (on three planners as well, my poor fingers were bruised from the scissors the next day) so I could remove the pages easily and move them around. It was a huge pain in the arse but well worth it. I essentially made an EC hobonichi with daily pages between weekly hourly pages. Super useful for detailed planning.
I used to do bullet journaling but I feel like is the best of both worlds. The structure I need but the ability to create something new/different without all that drawing.
Love the Frankenplanned EC. Everything at your fingertips! My go to daily for everything is a Happy Planner with HB90 printed A5 size on Happy Planner sized paper and HP half sheets in between. Discs make it easy for those of us who reinvent the day sometimes on an hourly basis. Thanks for sharing your process!
I love this idea. I have so many pages from notebooks and planners that are just collecting dust. This is an excellent, exciting way to utilize them so that it won't be like throwing money out the window. Thanks for another inspiring video!

I uncoiled my first EC coiled planner and recoiled it. It definitely took me more than 25 minutes, lol. I basically took out all my unused productivity and lined paper and put them on one coil for a brainstorming notebook.
I started using the Kanban system last year. WOW, can I just say how my productivity sky rocketed last year! I planned my quarter on January 2 and I'm on a roll already. Thank you for your inspiration.

I use the weird page as a focused habit tracker. This month I'm tracking when I wake up since I've been getting up way too late. I'm tracking for 2 weeks then I'll pick a time to get up consistently and track my habit for that.

Not only was it exciting to watch you on your journey to achieving your goal, but it helped me mentally to get out of bed, sit at my lovely desk, and start a new habit. After the Nano diaries were done I wanted another daily youtube video series to keep me going and I found PlanWithLaken, all thanks to you!!!! Between the two of you amazing women I feel like 2023 can be a good year for me!!!
Happy Pre-Birthday January 23rd. I did something similar with PurpleTrail planners as they have coils too. Right now I have two EC planner for the year, one as a food and weight tracker and one as a financial tracker, just starting this year. I used to do everything with Excel with the financial, but I think it is easier to see money spent in a planner. I would suggest using those front pages of the month for tracking either your increasing subscribers/views/income for each month. Each box could be a social media or a channel, and that way you can have your own type of statistics viewable with the flip of a page.
I use full label sheets to print my project time tracking sheets and stick them to the inside of file folders each quarter. That may be another option for you next time.
I've simplified this year and (for now) I've ended up doing everything in an EC Hourly - my family calendar, HB90 stuff, various other pieces. I've already decided I need a few more pages every month, so thanks for the inspo to combine some of my HB90 pages directly into the EC!
I am struggling with starting all my new goals (my own fault for putting so much new habits to start at the same time) and I keep forgetting to check mark what I actually do😅🙃 On the bright side I have been making progress I my world building, name picking and plotting so it's all good ❤
I love the balance of physical/analog tools with digital tasks. I've experimented with so many digital organization tools, but there's nothing like physically writing something down to make it really connect.
Love my Erin Condren teacher/academic planner - hadn't thought about Frankenplanning it with my calendar. I use a regular calendar with the HB90 pages worked it and LOVE that. HB90 really, really helped me. Thank you so much for all you do!!

As for the dashboard pages, I never seem to find a good use for them either. But I like the idea of them…it’s just the execution that’s the hang up 😂 Also, I reuse pages my daughter colors on all the time! And now I’m also repurposing her art into dividers in my disc planners.

Did you know? A lot of craft stores will have silicone coated pliers in the jewelry making section. Great grip, and reduced scratching.
