When I was young I used to listen to Casey Kasems top 100 and a couple of years later I saw Dana playing him. The voice was very good the look was just ok. Dana was always good with voices 👌
It makes me angry to think about how many great ideas were killed because the dumb dress rehearsal audiences (probably filled with humorless slack-jawed tourists) kept us from seeing better sketches that were instead replaced with dumbed-down tripe.
I love that the west coast of the US and Canada, and the east cost of Asia perfectly frame Dennis' hair making a sort of outline. Something I noticed, that made me chuckle from day one. Anyone else see that?
I’ve never heard a great Casey Kasem impression, but this is the best one I’ve heard. The voice isn’t that close, but at least the intonation and mannerisms are very accurate.
Watched SNL in the mid-eighties every Saturday night. Usually with friends. Watching television was something to do as a group back then. Now we all live in our little solipsistic phone worlds.
Dana's impressions are so funny you don't even have to know the references. He always found what was funny about someone, and hit that perfectly, and whether or not this is a real person is irrelevant.
Just like the allegedly laughless audience reaction to the unaired Casey/Jacey sketch, the audience response to this WE segment was also pretty tepid. Maybe the takeaway is that Casey Kasem sketches just aren't that funny?
Please release the Dress Rehearsal Of with Bill Hader as Casey Kasem’s son sketch .
That not funny
I heard about that one and the premise alone had me rolling on the floor: th-cam.com/video/3HZPkWYr2-4/w-d-xo.html
It's the funniest f'ing thing on earth, what is wrong with people!??!
@@darrenwendroff3441 I know right.
I wish....allegedly not filmed at run-through unfortunately
here from 92Y Bill and John conversation
Casey Kasem was awesome. Whenever I hear his radio show in the movie Ghost busters, takes me back :)
yesssss
Every time.
His wife was also in the movie, the blonde dancing with Louis (Rick Moranis' charactor).
"Eddie was accused of assaulting his manager with a deadly weapon WITH....intent to kill." oh man
"The answer? Nobody. No band that never existed had no such hits." Great lines.
Well, there ya have it.
Dana Carvey...A true master. A raw talent. A skilled detective who always find a given character's hook
Dana is a national treasure. 😆
Dana's impressions were so over-the-top, but amazing! Dennis was a smarmy choad...
After this skit, there was actually a group that hit the top 10 on the pop and R&B charts without ever existing - Milli Vanilli!
Please release the Bill Hader Casey Kasem sketch! The people politely demand it. 😘
Hearing it described makes me die laughing. To see the actual skit would be glorious.

American Top 40
Damn the test audience that didn't react appropriately to the Dana and Bill Hader sketch of Casey and his son. The idea sounds awesome.
Listen to the Conan segment with Bill Hader on TH-cam..doing the Casey Kasem bit... I laughed out loud

Even horrible shite sounds like😢 sunshine and rainbows when Casey says it.
0:14 "...intent to kill."

This is brilliant
"brilliant"? that was HORRIBLE!
Watched SNL in the mid-eighties every Saturday night. Usually with friends. Watching television was something to do as a group back then. Now we all live in our little solipsistic phone worlds.
Carvey nails it!!
This is gold
I listen to AT40 on Sirius 70´s on 7. This is eerily accurate
Bill Hader's Casey impression is WAY better than Dana's. Dana sounds like Casey sucking helium.
Carvey's Casey Kasem infomercial was funnier but I can't find it on TH-cam
Dana's impressions are so funny you don't even have to know the references. He always found what was funny about someone, and hit that perfectly, and whether or not this is a real person is irrelevant.
Well, there you have it.
He has the cadence just right but the voice is Far too high pitched.
I like the mullet wig on the host.
I wonder Casey ever saw this and what he thought of Dana's impression of him?
Spot on imitation by Dana Carvey as always. Interestingly AI will make the band that never existed joke NA soon.
The "D" is for "Disney"
"with... intent to kill"
I don’t know why I searched for this.
You have no life.
I do it frequently. I will not apologise.
You were intent to thrill
Is Don on the phone?
Not many people will get this joke. But I did. Well-played.
Ponderous man!
Hader does a better Casey.
We need "Casey Sings the Beatles"
That’s where I honed my semi-decent voice impersonation of him . Had that on video years back, lost …
It was so hilarious ;)
"Helter Skelter, na na na na na na na....boing!" Lol.
Want another one?
DC was the best cast member ever. There i said it
I thought kasey kassem was an el paso tx thing . Interesting
Tejus... yalll think the entire planet revolves around you.
Years later rappers were killing producers. Street cred.
Spooky.
Ironically, Queen have the most followers of any rock band on Spotify, so by that metric they are the number one band of the rock era.
Spotify has what, 10 customers at best. LOL
That was good. But the voice couldn't be easy to do. Too bad he didn't include Casey as Shaggy.
I think he gets away with “fuck”
He doesn't look like "Casey Kasem".
Probably because it's not him
Material isn't that funny and it's a weak impression of Kasem. Definitely not Carvey at his best.
Casey was not an entertainment editor
There’s DJ’s all over the country that blow this lane Casey imitation outta the water, including mine.
Shut up
Prove it dork

1:41 - that great joke was too intelligent for the crowd as it clearly went over most of their heads.
☮
A great comedian and a hack.
Wrong aspect ratio
That is the correct ratio.
Dennis Miller is not funny...In fact I wonder what they saw in him at all ?
Wow! Dana Carvey's impersonations have gotten very good over the years. This one really sucked, though. The voice wasn't good. The lines were flat.
Buncha dorks in this comment section...
He sounds nothing like Casey...
Terrible imperasen
