It’s insane how consistent Phinehas is. Their whole discography is the epitome of all killer no filler.
Literally never released a single weak track before.

The guitarist for Phinehas is also the Guitarist for FFAK, but I think he stands out more with Phinehas for those solos and riffs imo…

Great reaction!! I love how these guys just go all out with the guitar work, and it's quite clear that's their focus. I think that classic sound is a nice standout now especially with more and more new bands just going for the "modern" sound (low string riffs and ambience)
Tis true man, everyone going for a nu-metal approach so they might stand out better by sticking it that classic riffy metalcore
If I remember correctly, I read somewhere that both Sean (lead singer) and Daniel (guitarist) write a lot of the guitar work together,
I think this is finally the thing that will get them their recognition

Dan is such an underrated guitarist and I'm so glad his chops get to shine with this band. So pumped for this album.
This is definitely one of my favorite clean choruses this year, so much energy!

This was a very fair review of this song. For me I like it a bit more because I’m all about melody and both the guitar and vocal melodies in this song are fantastic. The cons you stated don’t bother me as much but I definitely agree they are fair criticisms based on your preferences.
When you started talking about the "cons" all I could think was Dr. Evil saying riiigght. Lol I understand what you're saying as not breaking any new territory but I love hearing the classic metalcore sound. I feel like there's not much of it anymore so it's nice to hear it again and it being done so well.

Glad you checked this out! I’ve been enjoying this song a lot because we really don’t get many bands doing the “classic metalcore” style anymore. Phinehas has at least added more modern production and some djenty chugs mixed into their classic riffs as well with the new song - it gives me heavy After The Burial vibes.

I love this track! It’s quintessential Phinehas! But, whereas I love the straight forward, shreddy style that this track uses, I really hope this album has more songs like Burning Bright off their last album. That opening riff really introduced me to odd time signatures in metal. But even if we get 9 other songs that sound like this, I wouldn’t complain

I disagree with some of the cons, but I appreciate the honesty. One thing that has been killing the Metal genres for a long time has been an absence of critique and an abundance of bias.

Nice reaction, but I totally disagree with your contra, that you would wish something "new" or "different" and more variety.
The more Metal Core Bands i Listen to, i Think they are changing their music too much from fast to slow. I like the exact Kind of fast and technical Metal that Phinehas plays, from their first Record till now. Hopefully they will never change! I am so bored with most new bands and records, for me they mostly sound the same. But listening to these great guitars and fast rhytms in ABR and Phinehas never bores me!

The chorus has a very RED or Thousand Foot Krutch feel to it, which makes sense since they're Christian bands too
Kind of a forgettable track for me. Not bringing anything really new to the table, like you said in your cons.
Well, sometimes it is better to stick to your solid classic shred metalcore style than doing some shity weird shit for the sake of "originality" .
Phinehas are like a lot are saying here really consistent. They really don't need to come up with some new sounding things.
All we want from them are sick shredding songs and like on every album at least one south metalish kind of song.
Oh, and they did an Acoustic album. If you want something different from them.
@@SephirothDA For sure, this is just my opinion of it, sorry if you don't like it. I also didn't say to just do something weird and shitty for the sake of originality lol. I don't necessarily dislike a classic shreddy metalcore album. I really enjoyed ABRs newest album and it's hardly evolved from their previous sound. I just didn't really get much from this song, maybe the rest of the album will have tracks I enjoy.
