When I first thought of Emerson Fittipaldi, I thought he was Italian because of that name. Then I realized he is Brazilian, bc of his nationality 😅. Just saying
In Iraq in 1972 when I was 18 in Medical school, no one could watch Grand Prix races live or otherwise. However, I used to follow Fittipaldi in old (2 or 3 month old) English car magazines that I was buying from used magazine sellers who laid them on the floor of Saray Market in central baghdad. Since that time, I have never seen a more beautiful car than Emerson’s John Player Special Lotus, ever. The colours were amazing.
I was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a child I was fascinated by cars inspired by my family. When Emerson won F1 with his iconic Black Lotus me as a pre-teenager and the whole of Brazil went wild! Thank you for this wonderful video!
Christmas day 74 I had the Corgi model, the 72 has always been my favorite car. I was lucky to get up close to No5 72D when visiting Classic Team Lotus last year. I totally recommend a visit to Classic Team Lotus from Clark to Senna. An unforgettable day. Great to see Emmerson driving it on the racetrack, also Mr Hill too, his Dad was very involved with Lotus helping to develop the cars
The first time I heard about Fittipaldi was 1976 (I was 8 then). This was the great season with Hunt, Lauda, Ickx, Fittipaldi, Lafitte, Maas, Stuck and many others. Nice to see one of the greatest in F1 still being around. Emerson won F1 in 1972 as the (then) youngest ever driver.
The most beautiful F1 ever built. Legendary. I had 8 years when I first saw this black and gold marvel on TV and became crazy for it. By Christmas my only wish for Santa was to get a 1/18 model that I have still today.
I would thinking that with advancement of miniaturization would allow F1 cars to retain the small and nimble chassis size. It's just strange to see these massive juggernauts today with all the modern technology take up so much track space. F1 cars need a massive trimming of fat.
How do you contact Emerson? I own the black Corvette parade car Emerson rode in before the historic race and season he won with Lotus 72 and have pictures of Emerson in the passenger seat of my 1973 Corvette, which is also historic, it is a COPO Corvette from the factory one of only a dozen COPO’s ever built since 1953.
When I was born in Dec 1972, Emerson was the F1 Champion and Brazil was the current football world champion. Now, after seeing Senna, Piquet and 2 additional world cups, it seems we've lost our magic. Brazil is now, more than ever, a banana republic and a dictatorship. God save us...

put any driver in that car at the time he would have won the title quick car without any problems Ickx did not have that luck with ferrari who failed so many times while leading the race!!
The car, the sound, the driver... God, 70s F1 cars were amazing.
And the track too
They really were. So much variety in design as well

They'd kill ya in a heartbeat, though. Niki Lauda was incredibly lucky.

No technical aides. No telemetry. No safety. Just pure driving skill and a superb car.
i cannot believe a 50 years old car F1 can be that good, that is a piece of art.
Emerson, fantastic racing driver, fantastic person! Thank you for sharing this incredible video.

Emmo and the JPS Lotus 72. Made for each other to win.
The way Emerson makes that old engine come alive again. The sound is epic!
Amazing, Grande Emerson 🇧🇷

Carro e piloto são LENDÁRIOS!! Brasil
Saw him win the race at Brands in 1972 ..... the first Grand Prix I attended.
Man that engine just gives instant goosebumps!
Great video, great car, legendary lotus72 by Colin Chapman. Love them both, Emerson and Lotus 72 🏎️🇧🇷🇬🇧Petr from 🇨🇿

Small swift compact F1 cars need to make a comeback.
Living legend 👍👍
Lotus 72, Jochen Rindt and Emerson Fittipaldi..........
Epicly said
They should have done this at the Brazilian GP
I always loved this car, it was the epitome of,what a racing car should be, to me at least.
This and Andretti's 78 Lotus are the most instantly recognisable F1 cars, change my mind
Jim Clark's Lotus 25.
Thank you so much for sharing, just wish it was longer!
EMERSON E LOTUS SÃO IMORTAIS.
Check out Lotus' video of him seeing all the type 72s together at Hethel
The respect his son has… love to see that 🙏🏻
The Lotus 72 🤩
I have like seeing the Emerson fittipaldi reunited with his Lotus 72 in f1.
I shook hands with him today in Hungaroring 🙌💜
I was lucky to see him at Watkins Glenn
Wow - just wow.
imagine being Emerson's son and being interviewed by Damon Hill
Just wish we could reunite Senna with his McLaren.😢
How ? He's dead
@@1048-e5d Do you know what "wish" means?
Wow that not even the one with the skirting boards first real aero invention
Why is the 'John Player Special' text on his helmet sometimes blurred, sometimes not? And it's never blurred on the car.

This car is so small and beautiful and Damon's father raced the 72 driving for Rob Walker, what irony.

Beautiful
Dang, his son looks super-young. Hard to believe he's 16 here. I thought he was like 13.
Is Damon Hill older than Emerson? haha... Two great guys, great champions!
