    You absolutely nailed this one, I especially love what you did with the shoulder pads! To answer both questions: My favourite pose of Gimli is the one from The Breaking of the Fellowship set (where he throws the axe). The Hobbit I would like to see painted is of course our FOOOOOL OF A TOOK!

      Thank you very much as always! Yeh its just something i wanted to do for Gimli, but wanted to break it down so it's easy to follow, and gives him a touch more detail :)
      Oh yes! That is a cool Gimli pose, good call!
      Haha, yes, i can already hear myself say that for his inevitable video :):)

    This is another excellent video. I really like the throwing axe pose for gimli but i also like the model that came with #21 battle games in middle earth because of the nostalgia from when i first discovered warhammer

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glad that you like it :):) That is a menacing pose from that issue - he looks like he's ready to rumble and cause havoc! :)
      I love those magazines there is so much great content in them, I wish I was around in the hobby when they came out - I certainly would have collected them, do you still have them?

    I just finished Gimli when this popped up on my feed, maybe next time I can follow along! I'm voting for Merry as he's the last of my unpainted hobbits.

    Lovely work! I would love to see Sam for next video. I absolutely hate this Gimli scalp. My favorite is the one from ambush at Amon hen

      Ah yes the Ambush one is a good pose, im pretty sure I have that set to paint up in my backlog of wonders! What makes him stand out for you?
      And noted - thats another vote for Sam!

    Mate, I just wanted to say that I think your channel is incredible. The way you break down the process and the trouble you go through to detail the paints for both army painter and citadel is amazing. I’m thoroughly enjoying your tutorials, I’ve just finished with Gandalf and it’s definitely the best miniature I’ve painted because of your fantastic instruction! You’re making my journey into this hobby far more easier and informative. Keep up the excellent work my friend!
    Ps. Could we possibly have Legolas next? :)

      Hi Lew! Thank you very much for the kind words :) Reading comments like these really light the first under my belly to create more! I’m trying to make some fun and informative videos on the channel and hope that people will enjoy them :)
      With a poll I ran recently it will be Sam and his special guest next for the fellowship series, and and then it’s Legolas :):)

    I'm glad I didnt paint my Gimli yet so I have now this video at hand, absolutely brutal. I've paint a few dwarfs already but I struggle with the beards a lot so this is helpful.
    For the next video if you do a hobbit, Frodo would be nice with that OSL. Btw I've noticed you use exclusively Army Painter paints, I've tried a couple but I don't like them too much since they dry rather satin, I tend to brush some matt varnish on satin parts anyways (I really get distracted by the shine after applying a wash). Wwhat's your take on this? do you use any varnish or matt medium in your process?

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh i have so many ways of doing hair, i've experimented with a ginger look in a few ways, this is just one method. I now am in possession of the new Army painter Speed paints, and i have an idea to create a quicker ginger - so i will try it out and hope that will work nicely :)
      Noted, I have a couple of Frodos so i will more than likely show two ways to paint sting :)
      Yes i switched over to Army painter from Citadel, i just prefer them - especially that they are in dropper bottles. I also have a set of Scale Colour skin paints and yes they both produce a very different finish.
      For army painter, i shake the paints as well as i can and it seems to work out pretty well, the odd time i get a shine. I agree it can be a tad distracting, especially when trying to record a video, but a thin layer of the anti-shine matt varnish does the trick nicely. - also great for transfers for other game systems!
      I will matt it down at the very end - but i do this for all of my minis (regardless of brand) by spraying some matt varnish - that way i have the same consistency throughout, and that little bit of extra protection. But i will tend to do that once i have painted quite a fair amount so i just have a spray afternoon :)

    I’d like to see a painting guide for Sam please, he’s my favourite sculpt out of the hobbits. I think it’s the miniature that looks most like the film character 🙂

      What do you mean about sterile and commercial? It would be good to get others thoughts - that way i can try and tweak and improve what i do on here :):)
