Really well-paced and a thorough explanation of sharing (which is the bane of my org as well)

embedding sharepoint videos take into account the underlying access, so this was very helpful in that scenario, thanks.

You really describe access permissions, in a way everyone should be able to understand it. Well don ;-)

Thanks a lot. The solution you gave in this video related to restricted view & preventing downloads was the one I was looking for and could not get even in Microsoft help sections and community threads. It helped me a lot in preventing the download of videos on widely broadcasted news pages in the SharePoint portal.

This was a major timesaver! Had issues with exactly this so thanks for the great video. I believe that our problems were in regards to the link being generated but then the user chose to create an embedded link to the video which made other users recieve the "You don't have access" error message. Thanks!

It’s a good point on the difference between sharing links and SharePoint site access. It can be a source of frustration.
I try and avoid the everyone groups as that can encompass more accounts than you need, yet every org is different.

Can we hide Share button as well?

Thanks John this was helpful. I hope it solves my issue with allowing users to share from a folder of videos.

Its very good video to show how to manage access for diff set of users. Just one query can we restrict or allow specific group to upload or download transcript of the video file?

Thank you, John! I went around in circles for a while. Your information has saved me a lot of time.
When I was using STREAM Classic, I could drop the link into OneNote and the link and the actual video would appear there and be ready to play.
This was very engaging for students. Have you seen this feature the in the new STREAM Classic?
    Thanks again.

Hi, you came closer to anyone else with my question, however, I still have one. In the 5 minutes mark you demo how to NOT notify/email people by unchecking the Notify people box. However, in the line above that it showed, "1 group will be invited". So, what does that mean? I need to share with over 800 pple without sending email. Statement seems conflicting.

Very Informative video John. Looking forward to your video on how to use embed links in sharepoint for Stream. sharing settings doesnt work well when using embed code in another sharepoint site that is open to company.
    Thanks in advance.

How can I use the embed code to share the video with everyone? It seems the embed code isn't adhering to the permissions I've set. I've selected "everyone" for the link, and it works as an external visible link, but when I try to use Embed code, it still requires signing in with Microsoft. This doesn't make sense for an embed .

Did you find a method to change the access permission for multiple videos at ones (I.e. not the share link but the underlying permission) “manage access” is only shown when selecting a single file or folder and changing the folder does not change the files in it

Hi John, I'm having an issue where I'm trying to share videos with external users - when they load the page they don't have access to the videos but the SharePoint itself loads. I can't seem to find a way to add permissions for "External Users" only. I thought they would be considered SharePoint Visitors but it's not working that way.
Do I need to turn off inheriting permissions and add a specific group for external people to view the video stream?
Hopefully, you are still checking the comments :)
    Thanks!

I have a question. How can i embed the Stream video in some LMS (like Moodle) that has his own private access but the LMS users doesnt have the stream office 365 or share point access. In other words, how can i get the Embed code so that i can share in any page and free acesss to everyone.

This started very promising but unfortunately there is no "Everyone except external" coming up when I try to search for it.

    • @CollabMoore
      @CollabMoore  ปีที่แล้ว +1

It could be that your administrators have chosen to hide the “Everyone except external” option if the site is private. I would reach out to them and see if you can make the site public to your organization and see if that group shows up for you.

Im getting below error while opening the recording from MS Teams meeting. How to fix this?
You don’t have permissions to view recap
To fix this, go to Stream and follow the steps to get permissions.
Then come back and refresh this page.

Thank you for this. I am teaching an online course and I copied a link that didn’t work. It resulted in all my students getting blocked out even though they have the link. I think it’s super frustrating the way they did this. It should be simpler. End of story.

This seems like way to much complication for a simple download or share feature.

Very helpful information, John. I am having trouble with Anyone with a link permissions, however. I want to share a Stream (on SharePoint) that any external user can view. Sometimes they get access denied or you need to request access. This is difficult to test. Can you share how to manage those cases and why such messages would be generated when they clearly received an Anyone with a link URL?
