My deepest gratitude to you!! Boyfriend is away and I decided to attempt this myself, which thanks to your calm and methodical instructions, I did. Does this make me a qualified mechanic, cos I sure as hell feel like one right now!! 😂 seriously, big thanks, you’ve made my day
I knew I wasn’t going to let a well known UK Auto company replace my bulb for me, because I knew some kind soul on TH-cam would have done a tutorial on it. Thanks so much for posting this, I managed to replace my bulb in less than 5 minutes, which delighted me so much I did a shimmy in the street 😂 much to the amusement of my mechanic neighbour! Seriously though, so well explained, you’re a legend!
my dad wasn't home to help me change my brake light (i'm a 17 year old female aussie p plater) as he was out at work, and this video really helped me and was so clear and helpful. thank you so much!!
Thank you so much for posting this, there's no way you could work out what to do from the Ford Users' Handbook. Your video was so clear and concise that I had the bulb changed and working again inside 10 minutes. One point to mention though, the bulb only fits into the holder one way round as the 'lugs' on either side are offset (i.e. not aligned with other). I didn't spot this at first and was convinced that my Tesco Universal Bulb Replacement kit wasn't universal! Only when I then compared the new Tesco bulb with the old Ford one did I spot the offset lugs, and thus realised it only went in one way round. Thanks again!
Super helpful post, thank you so much. Did my Daughters 09 Fiesta in a few mins after watching your video. (Sadly I didn`t have a blow torch to open the bulb shrink wrap, however 5 mins with my chainsaw & we were hot to trot!) Cheers.
I've just changed the brake light bulb on a UK 62 plate Fiesta. There are the two screws on the outside, one inside at the back of the light and if you reach inside behind the casing near the bulb, there is a long plastic thread with a wing nut that you unscrew by hand. It took me a while to find this plastic screw after much wrenching at the casing thinking there must be something else holding this. It came off easily then. But thanks for the video. Very helpful.
As you say there’s no need to take the bottom carpet out but as you did I noticed that you have a spare wheel on a 2012 Fiesta. I have a 2011 Titanium with none. I have an electric pump and can of sealant supplied. As for replacing the light cluster, it helps to clean the rubber gasket and smear a little Vaseline on it’s sealing edge and the two plastic plugs. I thank all you folks who take the time and effort to make these videos they are much better than manuals.
Thank you so much for this, I've just bought my daughter a 2009 model and the brake light was blown, I started fiddling around then You-Tubed it and found your extremely well explained video, well done!
Excellent video! Having just spent 3 frustrating b----y hours replacing the bulb in my wife's car, I couldn't agree more with Handyman's comments! They brought a smile back to my face!!!
Excellent tutorial, I would never have spotted the hidden thumbscrew behind the light fitting. Thanks to your video the bulb was changed in just a few minutes.
Mate I really appreciate this, back left light gone and never would have been able to do it without this video. If you think this is bad, I had a ford Ka 08 before my fiesta and had to take the whole front wing of the car off to change the headlight
Thanks so much! After watching a handful of other videos, yours was the only one showing the stupid screw things behind the carpet, locking the lights in! Definitely saved me from breaking something, if I'd tried to pull them any harder!
Ah yes, Light on the right? Push bulb and turn counter clockwise. This video helped me a lot better than the instruction manual. I only needed 10 minutes for my first time. Next time will go so much faster. (no pun intended)
Before you start, you’ll need a Torx Tx30 screwdriver. First make sure your handbrake’s on and your ignition’s off. Open the boot by pressing the release button and take off the shelf latches. Lift up the parcel shelf to remove it. Now, remove the two screws with the Torx screwdriver. The light unit will feel loose. But there’s still a wingnut to remove. Fold the side carpet back. Now you can get inside the bodywork. Here you’ll find the wingnut. Loosen the wingnut with your hands, then pull the light unit away. See the electrical connector? To remove it, squeeze the clips and pull it towards you. Place the whole rear light carefully on a flat, secure surface. First, here’s how to change the BRAKE LIGHT. To remove the bulb, turn the grey plastic holder anti-clockwise. Turn the bulb a quarter turn to release it. Just reverse the process to put a new bulb in. Now the REVERSING LIGHT. It’s the middle one. Turn the unit anti-clockwise and pull the connector out. Lift out the old bulb. Line the new bulb up. Push it in until it clicks into place. Now put the electrical connector back in. Next, the INDICATOR. Turn the grey indicator anti-clockwise and pull it out. Then, remove the bulb by turning it anti-clockwise. Just reverse the process to put a new bulb in. Time to put the whole light back in. First reattach the electrical connector. Align the light unit with the body. Gently push the whole unit in. Reach inside the bodywork to put the wing nut back on. Put the two screws back in. Gently push the side carpet back into place. And put the parcel shelf back on. Finally, put the remaining clips back in, and shut the boot. That’s how easy it is to change a bulb in your Ford’s brake light, reversing light and indicator.
Great guide. I was able to do the job in about seven minutes following your instructions- well, seven minutes plus shopping time for two different types of screws interfaces.
Very useful. Also works for the face-lifted version, 2013 to 2019, but the bulbs are separately fitted, not on a multiple bulb clip Twist the bulb holder anti-clockwise to unlock, and pull it out, swap the bulb, then lock it back into the cluster with a clockwise twist.
Thanks for posting this video. Very helpful. I replaced brake bulb in about 15 minutes on daughters 2014 Fiesta. Her boyfriend couldn’t do it apparently!!
I am sooooo happy! I followed your video step by step and changed my one damaged cluster and the other lights! Thankyou for sharing your content! It really is helpful!
Thanks mate! Although I have done this before (and believe it or not the second bulb of the two-pack was in the glove box to prove it) I have absolutely no recollection of doing the job. A video reminder is always good to have...
Just tried to do this using the manual .... I can see why you binned it. Thanks for the video ... should be much easier now. Love the humour too. Nice one.
I may be a bit late to the game, but I totally agree with you! Manufacturers don't like it when your able to cheaply and reliably fix your own car ;), the dealership I typically go to wanted to charge me almost $400.00!!!!! Hurrah for DIY fixes!!!
Thank you very much for your explanation, it has really been helpful. One day I would like to see the engineers who have designed the product change a lamp on this model of car. I imagine that they, the engineers, will think that the lamps will last more than 15 or 20 years and that it does not matter if it is difficult to change them. It is also possible that the factory engineers do not have a car and therefore do not worry about this type of problem.
Thanks so much for this!!! Did this on my wife's car.... originally I'd taken the torx screws out- had a wiggle about, could see the two retaining grommets and was flummoxed why it wasn't simply coming away.... the thumb screw behind the plastic/carpet really is overkill....😟
Brilliant,I was at a loss till I saw this, only thing I would do different, put bulb in THEN connect wire to check,if all good disconnect and reassembly whole thing, but great video 👍👍👍👍thanks
Thanks for this vid my mucker , i couldn't figure out what was holding the cluster in after removing the torx screws ,i didnt think there would be another fixing behind the plastic trim !! as for the plastic thumb screw ,after taking it off carefully i tied a length of string around it when i screwed it back on !! job done !!ps i left string on !!
Classic. At least it’s not as bad as changing the offside daytime running light bulb on a 2010 Fiat Punto Evo, which actually requires you to break all of your fingers and de-glove your right hand. The people who design this stuff must all be descendants of the Marquis de Sade.
Thanks for a most helpful video! Really helped showing how to release the light cluster from the inside, the rest was simple. Appreciate getting that critical step form you! 👍🏻👊🏻
Many thanks for this extremely helpful video. You've described how to do it perfectly. The part about locating the thumbscrew made the task easier, as did seeing exactly how much carpet needed to be pulled back. The tail and brake light had blown, but I also noticed that the indicator bulb was looking the worse for wear - the orange coating was peeling off. As a precaution, I've replaced all the bulbs on both sides - it seemed a good idea given the age of the car and how fiddly a job this is!
Just changed the bulb on my son’s Fiesta. What a rubbish design that middle bolt is…! I would never have thought to look for it. No wonder the passenger side has been historically snapped! Thanks for the informative video!!
6 years on - thanks Andy - I would most certainly have broken something expensive without
your video.

Legend, felt really accomplished doing this for the first time just now. Saves £20+ in service charges and it's so easy! Cheers!
Super helpful post, thank you so much. Did my Daughters 09 Fiesta in a few mins after watching your video. (Sadly I didn`t have a blow torch to open the bulb shrink wrap, however 5 mins with my chainsaw & we were hot to trot!) Cheers.
Not only very clear and helpful but also calm and humorous, which I greatly appreciated.
thank you so much, struggling to get cluster off for about 30 minutes in freezing cold, saw this vid and sorted it in 5 minutes, brilliant.

4:43 "very carefully open the bulb packet"....... omg xD
👍🤘
He took a blowtorch to its ass, as they might say in Pulp Fiction.
Idiot
Wouldn't a pair of scissors been a better option🤦♂️
🤣🤣🤣

Excellent tutorial, I would never have spotted the hidden thumbscrew behind the light fitting. Thanks to your video the bulb was changed in just a few minutes.
What a fantastic video. I wouldn't have dreamed of trying this myself but your clear (and funny) instructions made it very doable. Thanks a million.
Thanks a lot, your video made all the difference. Now I can tell the wife her brake lights are once again working, all thanks to you. ☺
Mate I really appreciate this, back left light gone and never would have been able to do it without this video. If you think this is bad, I had a ford Ka 08 before my fiesta and had to take the whole front wing of the car off to change the headlight
Good video. Used this twice now as I had forgotten how to do it. Glad it was still at the top of the search results when I searched this morning.
Thank you so much for posting this after reading the manual and scratching my head you saved me a tantrum! Only took me 10 mins start to finish 👍🏻
Glad you got sorted!! 👍👊
Good stuff. My wife just informed me of the brake light, and now I'm feeling confident in my skills. Thanks.
Thanks so much!
After watching a handful of other videos, yours was the only one showing the stupid screw things behind the carpet, locking the lights in! Definitely saved me from breaking something, if I'd tried to pull them any harder!
thanks, the manual that comes with the car is very sketchy! This made life a lot easier.
Fantastic guidance, seemed daunted by this but 15 minutes later it was sorted, saved myself £20 at halfords, subscribed :)
Great video. Thanks for posting. Managed to change both tailight bulbs in under 30 mins on my Son's Fiesta with help from this.
Ah yes,
Light on the right?
Push bulb and turn counter clockwise.
This video helped me a lot better than the instruction manual.
I only needed 10 minutes for my first time. Next time will go so much faster. (no pun intended)
Thank you! So many other videos don’t mention the plastic wing nut!! That had me stumped for ages until I found your video! Thanks again!! 2:23
Really easy to do if you follow this video. Took me 20 mins to do and the bulb only cost £1. Really helpful
thanks for the guide, i had a nightmare with the inside screw, you got to love people who overtighten things...
Brilliant video. Followed your steps to sort daughter's rear indicator bulb replacement. A real godsend video, many thanks.
I can't believe I needed a TH-cam video to change a damn bulb.
Like you said it's over complicated, but thanks for the help.
This 8 minute video allowed me to do the job in 4 minutes. Thanks man.
Thank you so much for this. Saved me a lot of time and hassle.
This made a task which I was told was bad supremely easy. I would have had no idea without this video.
Before you start, you’ll need a Torx Tx30 screwdriver.
First make sure your handbrake’s on and your ignition’s off.
Open the boot by pressing the release button and take off the shelf latches.
Lift up the parcel shelf to remove it.

First reattach the electrical connector.
Align the light unit with the body.
Gently push the whole unit in.
Reach inside the bodywork to put the wing nut back on.
Put the two screws back in.

And put the parcel shelf back on.
Finally, put the remaining clips back in, and shut the boot.

I didn’t had a clue how to remove the cluster. Your instructions really helped! Thank you for posting 👍🏽
Super helpful, thanks!
Clear, funny and calm. Just what was needed.
(Though if you think that's difficult you've clearly never owned a 2010 Corsa!)
Cheers pal, very useful. Crazy design!
Spot on did my wife's brake light bulb exactly how you showed in the video. Didn't have to burn the bulb packet to get it out though.
I am sooooo happy! I followed your video step by step and changed my one damaged cluster and the other lights! Thankyou for sharing your content! It really is helpful!
Literally spat my coffee out when you opened the bulb packet 🤣🤣🤣
Many thanks for the heads up ,I was uprating my indicator bulbs for clear ones and it was a doddle!👍👍👍
Thank you so much. Getting the panel open is akin to cracking the Davinci Code. You made it easy.
Opening the bulb pack with a torch..sub'd
Thanks mate! Although I have done this before (and believe it or not the second bulb of the two-pack was in the glove box to prove it) I have absolutely no recollection of doing the job. A video reminder is always good to have...
A great video so easy to follow for a fiddly job. Gave me the confidence to do this, and great humour had me in fits of laughter 😀😀
Amazing thank you. I used a flat screwdriver instead of the tork worked a treat
Can’t believe I paid Halfords to do it before when it’s that simple the way you explain it, cheers 😂 gonna save me some money in the future
Thanks
Thank you so much! 👍
Extremely helpful thanks. Especially to know about the plastic bolt inside..👍
Thanks for that. The Haynes manual is less than useless for this job.
Thanks for a great video. Super useful and straightforward. Bulb replaced.
Thanks so much for the video! Saved me a lot of swearing I'm sure! As often, it's not that difficult if you know how to do it! Thanks again!
Just tried to do this using the manual .... I can see why you binned it. Thanks for the video ... should be much easier now. Love the humour too. Nice one.

The black bit of mine is jammed any suggestions of how to loosen it up mate

Really helpful, clear and useful. Many thanks for posting this
Love the way you opened the bulb packet
Very helpful video, my bulb is all changed!
Thank you! Clear instructions without the nonsens.
Brilliant,I was at a loss till I saw this, only thing I would do different, put bulb in THEN connect wire to check,if all good disconnect and reassembly whole thing, but great video 👍👍👍👍thanks
Thank you for saving me money, all went to plan 🎉
Extremely helpful almost snapped above the top clip watching world mechanics, thanks very much👍
Thankyou watched your video and just changed the bulb very easily with your instructions

No worries! 👍
Thank you really helpful! I have never struggled changing a lightbulb but then I’ve never owned a rubbish Ford before!
Thank you! Exactly what i was looking for
Thanks for a most helpful video! Really helped showing how to release the light cluster from the inside, the rest was simple. Appreciate getting that critical step form you! 👍🏻👊🏻
Fantastic, informative video, made changing the bulb simple and easy!
Great stuff. Thanks. 10 minute job. Luckily had the Torx bit in an old tin of drills :)
The flame thrower is my favourite part :)
Thank you man. I told my wife that I will change her stop light bulb. Its the first car I v seen that its not straightforward.. Ouff

Thanks saves me being ripped of at the garage. I’ll just need a blow torch to open the bulb packaging.
Thanks for the video. Ford designers need to go to gemba😂
Thanks so much for the excellent coverage of the whole video. Very informative and it helped me big time.
Brilliant feel confident enough to have a go myself
Extremely helpful video, as always👍👍
Just used this, very helpful Thanks.
Thank you very helpful. The thumb turn thingy - what a pain to get too to try and turn.
You do very good sir Thank you very much for sharing this video very helpful Love from turkey 🇹🇷
Thanks for that- I'm wishing that I had paid Halfords to do it now!
Me too I thought it would be easier what a pain!!
Just changed the bulb on my son’s Fiesta. What a rubbish design that middle bolt is…! I would never have thought to look for it. No wonder the passenger side has been historically snapped!
Thanks for the informative video!!
Cheers mate very helpful managed to change mine without any fuss👌🏽
