Couple of things to help out. To burn wood doors with the torch you have to hold it to the door for longer. Also, you can pick up bloody bandages. Combine them with those water bowls on the wall to make them clean bandages.
A friend told me about this and I downloaded the demo a few days ago. I loved it. Now I have bought the EA release and it was $20. I am enjoying it immensely.
i'm lovinig Monomyth so far and glad to see people playing it! hope they let us use our own portraits like Lunacid, I get being immersive but the ones provided are goofy. some concerns so far: 1. I'm a little frustrated with Search as I've spent 7 points on it and it doesn't even clearly show trap buttons on the ground or even switches on the walls and it takes focus. it hasn't helped me find a single thing. 2. its confusing that you can cast Light magic with no points in Divine, so why would anyone ever use torches after they get the spell. or invest in Divine if they can use it for free. 3. I currently don't understand why mana regenerates, it really shouldn't. it makes mushrooms and magic potions useless and magic OP as much as i love this genre and am a huge fan, these games tend to be too easy, especially in the end game. I would love to see some balancing cause I enjoy challenges.
@@GameTimeWhy played till midnight after getting home. It's the type of game I like. Im probably gonna restart though, I feel like I wasted my points. I wanted to get into magic, but it's a very slow start, and you really do need both int and the other stat that gives focus. I ended up dipping into swords and strength to tide me over, and I wish I hadn't. Stealth and daggers seems to work better. Definitely invest in lock picking. Dropping six points will open most stuff early on, need about 8 to pick some doors for spells. I also regret not taking time to maintain my weapons, I lost some good ones.
@@GameTimeWhy there could be ways later, I don't know. I wouldn't say it's punishing, I actually managed to get a magic arrow spell with an AOE effect that I dumped all my skill points into. It 2 shots slimes and one shots weaker mobs. I could just grind through with hit and run tactics. The stat points I added are ones so would have added later anyway
Game feels almost exactly like Arx Fatalis. I bought it 2 nights ago. Don't waste your weapon durability on breaking stuff. Kick it with middle mouse click
middle mouse button kicks and it's really good to use, also you should have at least 3 spells by this point in the game, you have to draw the spells on the star to unlock the spells, but yeah you should have fire spell and a water one and soul arrow one. also you gotta have the tome book thing equipped and you just use the mouse scroll to cycle the spells
@@wanderbots Yeah, when you get the book and the 3 "runes" or whatever they're called you can draw your own connections between them in your spellbook to discover new spells. You need a minimum Intelligence for each spell but there are quite a few off the bat if you spend some time trying different things and have enough INT.
@@wanderbots there are attacks, but you need a lot of int for em. Best spell I got after a whole evening playing was a magic arrow with an aoe. Dumping skill points into that type of magic turned out great, it doesn't use much mana and could 2 shot slimes.
@@draconianpran example, if you want to really be a magic user pump points into INT. The healing spell I have needs 14 INT and Magic Arrow needs 17. I went into the game thinking you can do basic spells an then grow. You have to get then get magic. And you can rest in beds to recover.
Yeah as cool as this looks, I don't think I could watch or play because most games don't have ways to get rid of that motion sickness stuff like walk wobble or FOV.. plus players tend to spin real fast and point at things by wiggling the cursor at what they are talking about 💀💀💀

This looks really fun, almost exactly the kind of game I didn't know I was looking for! Does anyone have any more recommendations for games like this, besides skyrim?
Dread Delusion Lunacid Barony Dungeons of Sundaria Hammerwatch 2 (top-down but hits the same notes) Dungeons of Blood and Dream Swords n' Magic and Stuff
That was the most awkwardly hilarious intro to a game I've ever experienced! "Ahh yes, I am the stereotypical widened elder woman telling you how deep and mystrious world with tragedy and a spark of hope... Oh by the way you're not alone." and not even a minute later and this random dude crib walks up to with a sucker knockout punch. saying to himself, "KONNICHIWA KAWAII DESU~! BAP!!"
Man, you missed so much stuff. I would recommend spending your skill points, magic in this game is not as easy to gain as other games. Examine the spells you picked up to see the requirements, they are high 🙂 Oh, and smash the barrels with your sword or axe.
Smashing barrels, bouncing your weapon off the walls, or anything that the weap9ns hit deals durability damage, do swap to your fosts and bust the barrels though.
Slimes at the beginning are bad, they are hard to hit, because you need to get very close, almost into them and look down. So you must be really careful to not step in them.
I wanted to like this game, but the start is incredibly boring and picking skills is almost pointless because nothing you put points into is useful starting out (or are not able to be boosted enough to be used). I'm sure I'll get ripped up because I didn't play it enough or whatever.. but, that was my experience. If you just want to take that rusty sword and hit things kind of jankily, then it does a great job at that.
omg BETHESDA look at that thief 2 stealth system in a fantasy action rpg WOW IF ONLY TODD HOWARD CAN DO IT WITH HIS 500 BILLION DOLLAR BUDGET ELDER SCROLLS 6

Hi ,backer here of this , glad to see you covering it wander
It hurts my brain watching you play. I love it when you say you want to commit to be a mage, so you put points in str and weapons. LOL

Arx Fatalis remake?
Is it a bug, or is the early life of each of the characters the same? Shouldn't their early lives be different?
Oh boy this instantly triggered motion sickness and headache for me because of the wobbling
If i remember it correctly, you can turn that off in the options.
Benedict Cumberbatch? From Salad Fingers?
Does this scratch the Skyrim itch?
It does for me from a dungeon crawling perspective. Less so for roleplaying/quests/dialogue.
