- KTM 390 (Adventure)
Pros:
Performance: The KTM 390 series, especially the Duke and Adventure, are known for their powerful 373cc engines. They provide a thrilling performance with around 43 hp, making them suitable for spirited riding and highway cruising.
Technology: KTM bikes come equipped with advanced features such as ride-by-wire, multiple riding modes, TFT displays, and Bluetooth connectivity.
Handling: These bikes offer excellent handling and agility, making them ideal for city riding and twisty roads.
Weight: The KTM 390 series is relatively lightweight, which enhances its maneuverability and ease of handling.
Build Quality: KTM is known for its robust build quality and premium components.
Cons:
1-Off-road Capability: While the Adventure variant is designed for off-road, it may not match the ruggedness and durability of the Himalayan on tough terrains.
2-Maintenance Costs: KTM bikes can be relatively expensive to maintain compared to Royal Enfield.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450
Pros:
Versatility: The Himalayan 450 is designed as an adventure tourer, capable of handling various terrains including rough roads and off-road conditions.
Comfort: It offers a more upright and relaxed riding position, making it comfortable for long-distance touring.
Durability: The Himalayan is built to withstand tough conditions, with a rugged design and sturdy components.
Torque: The new 450cc engine is expected to deliver ample low-end torque, which is beneficial for off-road riding and carrying luggage.
Cost of Ownership: Generally, Royal Enfield bikes have lower maintenance costs compared to KTMs.
Cons:
Performance: While the new 450cc engine is an upgrade, it may not match the outright performance and speed of the KTM 390.
Technology: Royal Enfield bikes typically have fewer technological features compared to KTM.
Weight: The Himalayan is heavier than the KTM 390, which might make it less agile in city riding conditions.
Decision Factors:
Performance vs. Comfort: If you prioritize high performance, advanced features, and nimble handling, the KTM 390 is a better choice. If you prefer a comfortable ride for long-distance touring and a bike that can handle off-road conditions well, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 is more suitable.
Intended Use: For city commuting and occasional spirited rides, the KTM 390 excels. For adventure touring and off-road exploration, the Himalayan 450 is designed for the job.
Budget and Maintenance: Consider the long-term costs associated with maintenance and repairs. The Royal Enfield might be more budget-friendly in this regard.
Ultimately, test riding both bikes will give you a better sense of which suits your riding style and needs.

I own new gen Himalayan 450 . I ride it from Pune to Dandeli, karnatka ride is 9 hours long almost 500+ km. Ride is very very comfortable.
And my friend riding ktm 390 adventure he is very tired by riding because the posture and foot rest positioning. He is 6 feet tall and i am 5.11 i thing ktm is not for tall riders. And less Torquay in ghats.
