Growing up in this culture was the most powerful force on my development as a human being and a man. I have lived my life with very similar views and values as Uncle Mac. A perspective of humility and gratitude. mahalo
Mahalo Mahalo Uncle for your mana'o... As a fisherman...this video made me question myself as a fisherman, my values, my ways of doing things. I am humbled and grateful for your words.
That is true Hawaiian style I'm glad to see some of us is still perpetuating the Hawaiian culture and trying to preserve or resources for for our future generations mahalo for sharing that video
I like the idea he expresses at the end, in which the expression of change over time is viewed through the prism of a ‘changing story.’ If the relationship between the elements change, or if the circle is broken in some way, then “the story changes.” Until then, fundamentally, “the story is the same.” That’s profound.
Easily the Best TH-cam segment I’ve ever watched, reminds me of when I was a child , learning from my father & Papa. I also love the way Uncle is so calm & relaxed about shooting the footage, most people in their later years not used to be on camera, or even expressing their thoughts. We were Truly Blessed, Mahalo’s Uncle🙏🏼🤙🏽💯
Your Mana'o is so uplifting and I'm happy to know I've been on a good path since a Young boy fishing and gathering from the ocean and loving and caring for the ocean with every amount of respect it deserves. I hope I can spread your message to the generations of Kanaka Lawai'a from my Son and Daughter growing up around me to the generations of keiki unborn and still to come.
Fortunate and honored to watch this video. Made me check myself and my outlook on hunting and gathering. Mahalos and continue to inspire and educate. Aloha.
Molokai styl old school disaplen respect honer an pride. I like that styl only if the new generation had teachers like that the world would be peace. Thank you Hart felt watching this video.
Bra Dis segment should’ve been 2 hours the level of ocean knowledge passed down from one generation to da next is beautiful much mahalo to da Poepoe Ohana for sharing their knowledge 🤙🏼
This is the most beautiful video I've seen about fishing in hawaii as a local family growing up and learning, and passing down the knowledge for future generations the only right way 🙌. Mahalo for this insight uncle!
Mahal for Sharing the video of your Ohana, I live on the big island Hawaii and I love your story I like to go fishing I like to teach my daughter how to fish she watch me and I brought her first fishing pole she's only six years old and I love it when she watch me fish. Thank you 🤙🏻
I love how he talks about tradition and the earth how you need to pay attention to theses things. I feel so many ppl have lost there way to modern society and have become toxic and destructive. Its like humanity has lost its way to what matters and what got us here. 🙌🤙
Thank unko mac for your lesson on fishing an your aloha I hope you r son an your family can teach the younger generation how to do wat you do so it can bring the family's together. Thank you unko again. Aloha
Interesting thing about the moi. By throwing the large moi back the are releasing the egg laying females. Moi transition from male to female at around 12”. Also older fish produce exponentially more and healthier eggs/sperm. It seems the Hawaiians were so in tune with their environment they unconsciously knew this.
Yeassah!! No need pound can just see the fish and walk away. That's solid. At this place I fish I always watch this school of moi and ony hook a few for eat. They still there and I've been fishing this spot going on 20 years. Solid video.
No CnR culture on oahu. But lately I feel like it’s slowly changing. People are realizing if you take everything you catch there won’t be anything left for the next time.
Aloha to da braddahs in moloka'i ! Big mahalo for sharing your mana'o.this video openned up the eyes of many, including myself.i loving fishing and diving so much that i would stop for 5 years or even longer to bring back all the brood stocks so the next generation can enjoy the ocean too.people think i crazy but i trainning myself to stop eating poke and sashimi unless i catch and make um myself.lol.and no disrespect to social media but everybody gotta stop overtaking fish to look good on instagram and facebook.aloha to everybody and big mahalo to da hawaiians from moloka'i \m/

I grew up this way but here on Oahu is getting less and less fish and a lot of people don't fallow da rules and regulations
Too much people for one small island das why. Idk what they doing. And the thing is it’s all the locals doing this
It is even worse on the outer Islands the fish on the inner reefs are moviing out to the outer reefs just like Oahu
