I first saw them in 93 before the lineup changes mostly at bass. Wait through like 3 of them in one year. Lucky to meet John James, Sean Taylor, Kevin Mills, Peder. By this time Joel replaced Kevin Mills and Jody Davis replaced Sean Taylor.
@@Kludd-ss1lr a good portion of early songs Peter did the vocals in the recordings and John James did the live vocals. If you listen to Nott Ashamed, Going Public and Take me to your leader, you will find songs going back and forth between them.
@@dustinhutchinson6275 idk where you are getting that from. Because i know that john sang alot of the songs in the early 90s his voice is nothing like peter . I know they both sang the leads and would switch off on some songs . But john sang alot of them back then on the cd and in concerts.

@Lord Eddard Stark Gotta disagree on both points. Love Phil's voice (Jody's is awesome, too -- have that album, know Jody sings with him, they're both great and they blend really well). And I've also met Phil, he was nice as could be. Maybe he was exhausted from traveling when you met him and too tired to deal. It happens. These guys are human beings and they get tired, have fights with their wives, have off days just like the rest of us. I don't think it's at all fair to judge someone by one random meeting where you run into them in a busy airport when they've got their minds on other things. (I also have heard Phil is really uncomfortable with the adoration he gets from fans. He'd rather God be the one to get the glory. Maybe the dude is just SHY with strangers?)

I gave him just as much attention for his hair and his looks as any other female fan my age did. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I wondered if that was something Phil struggled with as someone in the ministry. Imagine you have a sincere desire to give all of the glory to God alone, but you yourself are so attractive that people end up giving YOU the glory instead. That’s his life, every day. I can only imagine how amplified that was when he was a Newsboy.
Duncan was originally the keyboardist before Jeff Frankenstein joined and then alternated between keyboard and drums until John James left and Peter Furler became the permanent lead singer.

I don't know why they never did any reunions with John before Peter left. I know he didn't exactly leave the band under the best of terms, but after he got his life back in order it would've been cool to see him perform some of their older songs with the band.

Interesting, I always thought Phil Joel joined closer to when Take Me to Your Leader released. Also I don't mean any disrespect to Peter Furler, but John James was a much more charismatic frontman. Even here, Peter just sorta stands around on the first song while John is dancing around all over the place.

Peter should have kept his butt behind the kit. Could never stand his voice. Always half singing and half talking. John was the much better singer. Just had too many personal struggles to continue on. I believe the band suffered for this switch. Notice how they kept having member changes after john left? Peter just wasnt talented, period.
A truely awfull band.. I did there sound and lighting at greenbelt in 95 and was embarrassed for them I then went on tour with INXS now that was a fun tour..
