My mom grew up in Goleen. Her brother still lives there, his oldest son and his family do too. You should have gone down to Sue Hill's b&b Heron's cove where you can get dinner, lunch too. It is by a lovely small pier. It is what you called a hotel in the video. There is also a veg shop, a catholic church. It is at the cross near the end of main street, you go right up that road. The church has across from it, a playground, carpark and doctor surgery. Above the church is the cliff rescue building and just up the road the primary school and some council and holiday lets. At the cross at the beginning of the village if you went to your right down that road huge amount of holiday lets both sides, go a few hundreds metres down the road on the right there is a huge community centre. The locals went all over the country even going door to door collecting money for it. The GAA said they would only invest in it if only GAA sports were played in the community centre pitches and locals did not like that. There are many roads areas in Goleen where the scenery is gorgeous and you can see our to sea and in the distance the Mizen Head lighthouse, cape clear island. The mountain you see in Goleen is knockaphuca and it has a cross at its peak. The cross fell and scouts went up to put up a new one. You can see it beautifully in all its glory the mountain from the Catholic church graveyard. The lobster pot does great food. O Mara's pub hugely popular with locals and has a gb page. Best month to visit Goleen is August. A ton of English tourists there as Schull the big village 20 mins before Goleen has its regatta and whSt they call calves week the week after the bank holiday beginning of August. After that Goleen week and Crokhaven festival (village 12 minutes south of Goleen. It has an amazing pub known for showing rugby matches, great award winning food and stuffed with Munster rugby memorabilia, it looks across from the pier. Called O Sullivan's.

10/10 would park there again. But really looks a lovely town surely the residents must be up in arms at the car situation.
