We love Bantry! Our visit in 2019 was the best! My wife’s grandmother was born on Whiddy Island out in Bantry Bay.

I love Ireland! I agree that you need to visit the small towns as well as the cities. Watching from Philadelphia!

All the buildings perfectly maintained and brightly painted make small town USA with strip malls look gross.

I lived and worked in Bantry for a year back in 2005/6. I loved it there, made a cupple of friends. The the scenery is magnificent, the horse riding and fishing is top's. The people, some can be a bit clanish stand offish. I don't know if it's a Jackeen arriving from Dublin to Shanghai their woman folk or what . The little village's like Drumligue along the way are nice 🤣

I also moved from Dublin to Bantry and still live here. Yes, some of the locals can be a bit clique'ish, but then that's the case in every small town all over the world. As time passes you find your tribe, and I soon discovered it is quite cosmopolitan with so many different nationalities living there. You just have to join in activities to find them. Took me about three years to feel at home but now I would never want to leave.

Pubs are the social centers. My parents had their designated table at the bar 2 blocks away. When people tried to sit there all the patrons would say,”You can’t sit there, that is Donna and Louis table. Ha

missed the livestream somebody asked the pop of bantry its 2000.As regards fastfood McDonalds use irish prime beef anyway ,but supermacs is our equivalent and the owner makes a point of using nearly all local produce and in the case of pizzas european produce obviously olives and tomatoes are not really grown here.Plus he has been very supportive of beef farmers who are exploited by the beef barons in that they don't give them a fair price for their meat.

@@Nicolasszu lots of jobs here in hospitality. Some nice hotels and restaurants always looking for staff. Beautiful part of the world. The landscape, scenery, history and people are amazing.

@@Nicolasszu There are many foreign people living in the town and its environs. There are many hotels in the region or you can commute to/from Cork city every day like some people do. The bus service runs regularly from Bantry to/from the city. Best of luck wherever you decide to travel. 👍😊

The population is not as high as 10,000 to 16,000. It is only 2,500 including its hinterlands. But from March to September the population increases by a lot as it is a very tourist-oriented region.

10:53 -- a sad commentary on American cuisine. "Traditional American fast-food." What about Chesapeake Blue Crabs, Montana beef, New England chowder, Philadelphia cheese steak, San Francisco sourdough bread and mussel-abalone stew, Chicago pizza, New Orleans jambalaya, Austin Tx BBQ and Alaskan king crab and trout caught in the Missouri Breaks up north .
