  • Razer just dropped the brand new Razer Blackwidow V4 75 gaming keyboard that features a TON of first time mods and additions to a Razer keyboard that really delves into the world of customs. From a new layout with internal mods with gasket mounting to a hotswap PCB, Razer threw a lot at the Blackwidow V4 75. But does it work? Check it all out in this review!

    Follow ups! It's actually $189 not $199, and all 3 switch types WILL be available for purchase from Razer, most likely meaning this will only ever be sold in the orange tactile version so people can buy other switches.

    Razer is such an enigma. They added the Cobra instead of the Viper Mini Wireless people have been begging for, but then they turn around and release a 75% keyboard that makes the vast majority of OEM keyboards look foolish. Price isn't amazing, but Razer seems to give retailers a fair amount of flexibility when it comes to sale prices

      Eitherways viper signature is the ultimate viper mini wireless so i would rather same money get that one day in life because that is the best luxury mice made till date

      Lmao at the person above who said viper mini signature is useless
      That is literally the greatest gaming mice ever made both in terms of luxury and actual performance in competitive pro gaming.
      Literally the only downside is the price and even that is justifiable for its magnesium alloy ultra premium body that still weights less than anything else on the market (except zaunkoenig, but that is super mini mouse) and its raw performance that is STILL the best on any wireless mouse

    Don't know if this is a known issues but I purchased two v4 75% for me and my brother after watching this video. Everything was fine for 3 months and now we've both had a lot of double press issues and even bough new stock switches, swapped them with the keys that were double pressing and still have the same issues. We've tried cleaning each switch individually but still get double presses even triple presses. Don't know what's affecting our two keyboards but just so people know that this keyboard isn't as as hyped up as it should've been. Nothing like thinking you're counter strafing in CS2 just to have your shot miss and cause a loss.

      I remember when i swore by gaming brands and paid the gamer tax. Used to think my corsair was the best. Stayed with it for 4 years. Bro custom keyboards have gotten cheap, an aluminum board can be bought for less than $100, and there are plenty of good switches with dust proof design. You can even get hall effect switches to have perfect counter strafing too if you want. All for cheaper than what this razer costs

      Holy cow. Did not expect to see this comment here. I returned to this video after a year of purchasing this keyboard. Like you said, I encountered the same double press issues, as I replaced it three times. No luck in any of them. Every one of them starts to experience this issue after a month or two. Now Razer is not even responding to me at all; it is always a dead loop of waiting for further assistance by email, which never arrives.

    To speak on the volume dial as someone with the V3 i actually think its a massive improvement. The previous design often allowed debris to get in the wheel and mess with its functionality. The new wheel looks a lot more robust and separating it from the mute key should leave less room for similar debris issues. The new design in general looks a lot more durable which is a nice change for Razer

    I used linear switches exclusively in every keyboard i bought, and I actually don't mind these at all.. They feel good af, and it legit does not feel that drastically different from the linears I was using. It feels so good to game, and to type after about a day of getting used to them. I do not care to go buy all the parts separately, or and then building it. This feels like a very premium product straight out the box, and I think that's who razer was marketing this for. It really looks amazing, a VAST improvement from past gaming keyboards. If you intend on switching out the switches or more, i wouldn't pay $190 for this, but I'm so glad gaming companies are realizing how much gaming keyboard have sucked. The internal mods and everything is quite amazing, and helps people who are buying gaming keyboards to plug and play. 75% is my favorite layout so I'm biased, but the fact it includes a scroll wheel too is absolutely wonderful.

    Anyway, couple things I wanted to point out: the new orange switches actuate at 2mm rather than 1.5mm, this board features an FR4 plate as opposed to a metal plate, and that the price is actually $190 instead of $200. That aside, great review as always :D

    - They need to stop locking keys mappings in Synapse.
    - Needs an additional left side cable port. Maybe even right side too for left handed people.
    - Need the 65% of this new Black Widow, without the F keys and media keys/scroll wheel.
    Never understood the need for media keys on a keyboard when you can just remap normal keys / use hypershift on your mouse / or use a stream deck if you have one.

    Lovely video! It maybe is true that 80% of users may prefer liner switches, however as I am a typist and not a a gamer, THIS is exactly what I’ve been wanting from Razer for years: an RGB at 65 or 75% with tactile switches (and hot swappable so could put some Holy Pandas), in an ISO layout, with some lube and foam (as I am not good at modifying keyboards myself). I’d love to see the exact same configuration in their 65%. The things I’d love to see would be to move the usb port to the left, a coiled cable, maybe wireless mode and maybe the rgb Razer logo in the front of the keyboard. For my needs, this is the best keyboard they’ve come out with so far. What’s also missing, is a plastic keyboard cover…

    At least a user friendly keyboard from Razer. But for me the best from Razer is still the Huntsman TE with foam mod, lubed optical switches and stabs, tightened switch stabilizers. Stock is one of the worst very loud because of the loose switch stabs. But in a few hours with a little magic you can imagine... It could be pretty silent :) Anyways nice video as always! Keep up the great job. Cheers

    I’m not too amused how they claimed ‘aluminum case’ yet it’s only a top plate really.
    Still considering it though, due to those extra functions and how compact they made the buttons without messing around with those extra gaps (you’re right, it’s ever so slightly irritating to see those little gaps, as if the whole point of the Tenkeyless isn’t to have a compact keyboard that still has all the functional buttons.)
    It’s between this and the GMMK Pro for me, anyways. At least this has some decent default switches included until if/when you go to switch them out.

    Razer must have separate teams for their mouse and keyboards. Mouse department does not care about what the community wants (Viper Mini Wireless) but the keyboard department actually listens to the community and come up with something like this. 75%, hot-swapped, tape mod, FR4 plate and more! Way to go!

      Their keyboards have had a huge jump in quality a couple years back and I have never been disappointed with any I have picked up.
      But their mice are totally a crapshoot and after going through 4 different models, I feel really lucky that my Viper has not had any issues so far.
      EDIT: I also definitely think that keyboards having a dedicated community of enthusiasts helps. That same thing doesn't exist with mice where the only audience that has influence are esports players.

  • @randeegunthunter1062

    You didn’t notice any cpu variance because you can’t tell the difference between 125, 1000 or 8000hz polling. People play Ozu with customs that have 125hz and they’re pressing those 2 buttons WAY faster than you would playing Battlefield.

    • @kaeroseon
      @kaeroseon ปีที่แล้ว

      You would still not notice as its a mechanical switch and not optical, a keypress is a very short response, and also, most humans can't tell a 0.875ms difference. Polling rate really doesn't matter for keyboards but it's a nice feature. Maybe a hall effect or optical switch would have a bigger benefit due to the custom actuation distance.

    I have a Razer Blackwidow V4 Pro full size... I'm tempted to switch to this one. For some reason I can't stand linear switches... I returned the first keyboard I owned that had linears... But I also want a quiet keyboard. So I was disappointed the full V4 Pro only had yellows or clicky.... neither one of which I wanted it. I'm suffering with clickies right now; but these oranges sound much quieter.

    • @kaeroseon
      @kaeroseon ปีที่แล้ว

      If you really want the hall effect switches and it's advantages like rapid trigger, wooting. If you don't care about those extra 0.2 milliseconds, this is way better. But a custom keyboard would sound and feel better than both. Both have their nieches tho, I'd go for a wooing and mod it. This is an easy no hassle board that is good out of the box, but not the best in any area.
