Otogi 1 & 2 and GunValkyrie!! YES!! If only the music copyright stuff could've got worked out for Jet Set Radio Future...😖 I love that all the definitive versions of DOA are now on Xbox in 4k!
I own most of these as well physically - I do plan on buying a few digitally just to support the work XBOX did with the program - sad to see it end, hopefully they bring it back one day.
There is still a part of me wanting Halo CE and Halo 2 backwards compatible. I know The Master Chief Collection has been getting updates to make the "classic" versions of those games looking closer to the OG Xbox versions. But, it still would be nice to have both versions available. All the 360 Halo games are backwards compatible, and 2 of them were already available on MCC prior.
@@AndyTolly123 yeah but your still downloading the game from the server the disk is only for licensing purposes. And they were backwards compatible for everyone prior to December 20th 2020. These disc only compatable games make having a series S or a digital only one S console kinda pointless
Binary Domain and Gunvalkyrie were the big ones for me as a Sega fan. In Binary Domain's case I bought it, played a bit, and then put it in my backlog hoping it would be made backwards compatible. Not only did it happen, it's 60fps now! If this is truly the last batch of BC games, I really hope MS adds visual enhancements and fps boost to as many of them as possible.
Finally! Was checking back constantly waiting for your thoughts. I enjoy the OG Xbox and really enjoy your passion for the OG Xbox (wish more channels enjoyed the OG Xbox). Great video!
It’s sad to see no more backwards compatible games, but I thank that program for introducing me to Saint’s Row and bringing back Midnight Club LA. Thank you Xbox for all the backwards compatible games! Mega respect for Microsoft coming from a PlayStation fan
You are the perfect person to give the perspective on how cool this is. Having spent the last couple of years hoping I was going to see Back Compat comeback (buying old discs, testing my existing OG collection) this was great news. As a console manufacturer Microsoft has built good will like no other the last gen and going forward. If they could dip back in and get one or two titles from the OG era what would you wish for? Second Sight is a great one, btw.
If there could be only two games for the OG Xbox I would love to see come back if they ever do this backwards compatibility program again is, sonic heroes and sonic mega collection plus.
As funny as this sounds, I was really excited to see that damn Chicken Little game was added to backwards compatibility. Played it on PS2 a lot as a kid and genuinely have fond memories of it. Disney games are surprisingly good sometimes lol. Looking to grab a physical Xbox copy now.
Recently went through Condemned criminal origins on the X1X back compat and it was terrific. What a game. Bloodshot was awesome as well. The multi player was a fun addition. Part 2 didn't make the bc list tbough smh. Wish they would do Condemned 3. If not then a Condemned remaster please!
@@AdamKoralik haha I know it's two discs. Basically both discs contain both games full data on the disc. However Disc one has the booth path set to DOA1 and Disc two has the booth path set to DOA2. If you have either disc ripped fully to a modded console you can boot directly into either game with just the single disc. It's a random fact that most people don't know and I didn't mean any offence by it. Sorry if my original comment came off snarky. I myself still to this day don't understand why they bothered making such an elaborate packaging when they could have just released it as one disc.
Sad they're done adding more games. Would love to get some of the older consoles packed back away finally. Also, 20 years of Xbox...damn I just keep feeling older lol
I was pleasantly surprised at this new batch of supported games, i was really really surprised that advent rising was one of them, looks great on the xbox one x
Definitely have to revisit that over looked gem of a game. Wish they had gone ahead and created the other 2 games for the trilogy. The other 2 games would have been on the Xbox 360 and most likely would have been amazing with the next gen hardware. Shame. This game is so under appreciated.
Yeah microsoft really seems to keep gaming at the heart of there commitment to massive library of backward compatible games . I just recently started playing NFS underground 2 it's brings back alot of memories of me and my daughter playing back in 2004
Playing the og battlefront 2 for the first time and wow,how did I not play this back in the day is beyond me.i don't believe I even heard of it before getting into backwards compatibility.
I’ve been reliving my childhood by replaying Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect, Max Payne 1 and 2. This latest update from Microsoft made me very happy.
Actually, there's more than 76 games that were added into the program. Some were saying games that weren't even listed were working . It's in the Wiki page but I know a few people that tried their entire collection, some surprised that a few worked. Most likely this was a result of them testing and left them in without realizing
It's weird, honestly. I'm not saying every game works but there are a few that might have been tested and left in that weren't apart of the 76 listed backwards compatibility list. That's just my guess. Definitely worth checking out Adam to be sure
I would have gladly played the GTA Trilogy through backwards compatibility then the clusterf***k of a remaster that RockStar released. That would have actually made the fanbase happier than what we got. It also would not have been a waste of $60. Great Video Adam! Hope all is well!
"the idea that you still have phisical discs is crazy for people". yeah, I know how absurd that feels. i've heard people shocked "you still have CDs? why???!!!", like it's a bad thing. there's almost a bit of indignation in their reactions, like they are thinking "HOW DARE YOU!!". it makes me want to scream when people like coworkers make fun of me for still having CDs and DVDs, like I'm dumb or stupid for it and they are so smart and cool for not having any phisical media. I've been called "grandpa", "dumb" and laughed at. is everybody crazy???????????!!.
Do you know if the prince of persia warrior within and the two thrones are going to be backards compatible with the series x? Or at least with the xbox one x?
Why do a lot of these games not pop up on the store? I bought a series s for back combat ( My ps3 turned into a digital ps1 machine so I thought Id do the same with xbox) and I feel like it keeps coming up short on finding things, especially with some saying they are unavailable. Also apparently Second Sight is on steam.
I didnt get to enjoy the original xbox due to picking the ps2 but Man I’ll never forget playing perfect dark zero at 9 years old when I got my 360 in 2006. I was blown away by the graphics of that game coming from ps2 no fps game on ps2 could compare to me at that time. Xbox 360 will always be my favorite console ps2 is definitely a close 2nd.
What amazing news! Although I don't necessarily think that the game being digitally purchasable from the store is the reason why some games are chosen to become part of the backwards compatability program. Fear, Fear Files and Fear 3 have been added to the list but aren't purchasable digitally from the store and Trials Evolution is rather Infamously still delisted for purchase since 2018 due to a lot of red tape but was made backwards compatible in 2019
Given that some games from the original Xbox are backwards compatible with the Xbox 360 and by extension the Xbox One and Xbox series S/X I'd love to see a video of someone transferring their original save file from an OG Xbox game to an Xbox 360, then to an Xbox One and then to an Xbox series s. That would certainly be a sight to behold.
Having not watched the full video yet, in my opinion there will be more if the demand is there. Let's be honest Xbox said no more yet we got more and who knows there are a lot of great games left off the list im hoping for more personally.
I don't think this has been done due to demand... I think Microsoft had the money to do the deals to make this happen easily and quickly i bet this has been done in a very short amount of time
As is said in the video, it is not that Microsoft doesn't want to make more games compatible, it is with the right holders of the games allowing Microsoft to do so.
I'm over the moon with the new og Xbox back compatible games as I play more back compatible games than next gen games lol, I wish there were more but I'm happy that we got a few more and their good titles at least. Never knew about battlefield 2 og Xbox game, thanks for the video I enjoyed it.
Gun Valkyrie? Yeah my 360 could never run that. Good addition. One solution to backwards compatibility I wanted to see was having an "all in one" version of the latest Xbox or Playstation system. Where all the original hardware of previous systems is just packed in there, and it boots up the correct "system" when the disc is inserted. Just like what we saw with PS1 games on PS2, and Gamecube games on Wii. I applaud Microsoft's efforts here, but it's gotta be very expensive to get the rights for digital redistribution of games. And having that dictate what the full library is for physical media as well seems very stifling. Having a big library to shop from is very appealing, but I'd bet game collectors especially would pay outrageous prices for a machine that can handle all their generations of game discs with the best performance.
Damn I want to play the Otogi games but they're both still sealed and I just checked the prices. Now I don't wanna open them. Hyped for Gladius and Gunvalkyrie.
It’s amazing that these games are finally playable, gonna visit my friend out of state and I’m for sure gonna bring dead or alive 3 to play with him. It also makes me wanna trade in the ps2 versions of games I own to get the Xbox version now that I can play it in 4K.
One thing to consider is that each 360 and original Xbox game has to be licensed to run on Xbox One or Series X. But, every single Xbox One game can run on Series X without the need to license it for the Series X. Why is this? It’s because the Series X is just a more powerful Xbox One.
It's a shame we never got the MechAssault games on backwards compatibility considering Microsoft owns the rights to the first 2 games. Not to mention a ton of Bethesda titles on the original Xbox too.
@@braddl9442 Mechassault and Mechassault Lone Wolf were my 2 favorites. I’ve been waiting YEARS to see if there would be an Xbox that would be able to play these games. Can you explain what you mean about “IP” and multiple parties?
Technologically they can. Its things like Music, Voice Acting, Vehicle, and Actor likeness licensing on a lot of stuff is next to impossible to resolve. Then there might even be some tech of software licensing and compatibility that is no good anymore. Last there is the fact many companies that made some games no longer exist and the rights to certain IP are in a legal limbo with no clear owner. Sometimes the rights to some IP can end up split and no one can do anything with it.
@@AdamKoralik It got real awkward when you started to say all this stuff half way into the video because I wrote this while you were still in the intro and laying the groundwork part at the start. LoL.
Even if Rockstar gave permission to allow the OG GTA games back compat they still have expired music licenses which explains the missing music tracks in the remastered trilogy
Hey Adam, did Microsoft ever add Tony Hawk's Project 8 and/or Tony Hawk's Proving Ground to the list of Backwards Compatible games at any point in the past? I can't find anything about these 2 games on the internet. The newer XBOX Consoles could possibly work wonders on Tony Hawk's Project 8, as it had severe frame drops on the 360 & PS3 versions. It ruins what could have been a fantastic Tony Hawk game. Then again, It could probably be wishful thinking & it wouldn't do jack shit to help the Framerate.
The great thing is that Original Xbox GTA San Andreas even works on Xbox one and Series X ( after a whole bloody year of hunting I finally got one last Friday ). You will of-course get the glorified smartphone port. But hey better than nothing
There's still a bunch of og Xbox & Xbox 360 titles that are still not backwards-compatible & it seems there's very little reason why ithey're not. Games that were published by MicroSoft themselves back in the day, like Blood Wake, Kung Fu Chaos, Suikoden, Blinx 2 & Brute Force are still not backwards-compatible. Not great games, by any means, but worthy of being historically preserved.

Otogi 1 & 2 and GunValkyrie!! YES!! If only the music copyright stuff could've got worked out for Jet Set Radio Future...😖
I love that all the definitive versions of DOA are now on Xbox in 4k!
JSRF is in fact held up my the music rights.
i really want to play jet set radio future on Xbox One?
I own most of these as well physically - I do plan on buying a few digitally just to support the work XBOX did with the program - sad to see it end, hopefully they bring it back one day.
There is still a part of me wanting Halo CE and Halo 2 backwards compatible. I know The Master Chief Collection has been getting updates to make the "classic" versions of those games looking closer to the OG Xbox versions. But, it still would be nice to have both versions available. All the 360 Halo games are backwards compatible, and 2 of them were already available on MCC prior.
They delisted all the old halo 360 games from the store back in December of 2020
@@AndyTolly123 yeah but your still downloading the game from the server the disk is only for licensing purposes.
If this is truly the last batch of BC games, I really hope MS adds visual enhancements and fps boost to as many of them as possible.
we need more original Xbox games for backwards compatible?
Great content as always Adam, I wish PS5 offered backwards compatibility like this!
Finally! Was checking back constantly waiting for your thoughts. I enjoy the OG Xbox and really enjoy your passion for the OG Xbox (wish more channels enjoyed the OG Xbox). Great video!
Great break down I wish some people would get the understanding how legal issues work
I'm happy they added Gunvalkyrie because I want to try it out one day.
Obscure and Silent Hill 2 would be at the top of my list.
@@AdamKoralik Hey, I have both those games on the PS2.
@@AdamKoralik I spent extra to buy sh2 back when.
If there could be only two games for the OG Xbox I would love to see come back if they ever do this backwards compatibility program again is, sonic heroes and sonic mega collection plus.
R.I.P. Xbox Backwards Compatibility 2015 - 2021
i wish we had more original Xbox games for backwards compatible?
As funny as this sounds, I was really excited to see that damn Chicken Little game was added to backwards compatibility. Played it on PS2 a lot as a kid and genuinely have fond memories of it. Disney games are surprisingly good sometimes lol. Looking to grab a physical Xbox copy now.
I have a feeling they will do backwards compatibility more, they just wanted to say it was done so there is no expectation from the fans
As always thanks for the trip down memory lane. Absolutely loving doa3 with my original disc!
Blew my mind they never added Halo 2, but learning the circumstances since I’ve learned to understand it, even if it is a bummer.
I was so happy to see this, I immediately ordered Revenge of the Sith after the show, loved that game on the PS2 back in the day.
I bought gunvalkyrie immediately. That game wasn't backwards compatible with 360 and I never got to play it. So happy to finally have it.
This is the first video of yours I saw! I had a question about Xbox Ones playing original Xbox games. Super cool
DOAU is actually technically 1 game that contains 2 games within it. Both games are on the same disc.
...It's two discs dude.
@@RonkeyRong I forgot about this. I now remember MVG talking about it in a video before
Sad they're done adding more games. Would love to get some of the older consoles packed back away finally. Also, 20 years of Xbox...damn I just keep feeling older lol
Was really hoping for Oddworld Stranger's Wrath. Loved that one.
@@TboneTenEighties agreed
Was so happy to get all these new titles
Yeah microsoft really seems to keep gaming at the heart of there commitment to massive library of backward compatible games . I just recently started playing NFS underground 2 it's brings back alot of memories of me and my daughter playing back in 2004
It's fun as heck running all of these discs down for as cheap as ya can.its a game within a game
It’s time for the moment you have all been waiting for!
Actually, there's more than 76 games that were added into the program. Some were saying games that weren't even listed were working . It's in the Wiki page but I know a few people that tried their entire collection, some surprised that a few worked. Most likely this was a result of them testing and left them in without realizing
Uh, like what?
It's weird, honestly. I'm not saying every game works but there are a few that might have been tested and left in that weren't apart of the 76 listed backwards compatibility list. That's just my guess. Definitely worth checking out Adam to be sure
I love all of the tidbits of fun fact information, like with legal/licensing stuff et cetera. :)
The inclusion of Timesplitters on the list almost makes me want to get an XB1.
Adam make an amazing content as always
I always learn something from your videos! Great content! I’m gonna start calling you Professor Adam
Also apparently Second Sight is on steam.
we need more og xbox racing games for backwards compatible?
I didnt get to enjoy the original xbox due to picking the ps2 but Man I’ll never forget playing perfect dark zero at 9 years old when I got my 360 in 2006. I was blown away by the graphics of that game coming from ps2 no fps game on ps2 could compare to me at that time. Xbox 360 will always be my favorite console ps2 is definitely a close 2nd.
What amazing news! Although I don't necessarily think that the game being digitally purchasable from the store is the reason why some games are chosen to become part of the backwards compatability program. Fear, Fear Files and Fear 3 have been added to the list but aren't purchasable digitally from the store and Trials Evolution is rather Infamously still delisted for purchase since 2018 due to a lot of red tape but was made backwards compatible in 2019
Wait. I can play Fear Files on my XBOX ONE now?
still waiting for old Marvel Xbox games for backwards compatible?
I think Microsoft had the money to do the deals to make this happen easily and quickly i bet this has been done in a very short amount of time
I think you’re right
@@PureBassO i can agree with that i do think the people had a huge part it getting this done, though i mean if we didn't use it why do it?
As is said in the video, it is not that Microsoft doesn't want to make more games compatible, it is with the right holders of the games allowing Microsoft to do so.
I hope you're right. Love to see Iron Phoenix, True Crime and 007 From Russia kick ass in 4k, but I dream every night wake up clueless.
Can you do a another video covering the x360 back compatible library on xbox one/series
Pretty sure Deep Silver has the rights to Timesplitters IP now. I've heard they're trying to get a new one made as well!
I'm over the moon with the new og Xbox back compatible games as I play more back compatible games than next gen games lol, I wish there were more but I'm happy that we got a few more and their good titles at least.
Never knew about battlefield 2 og Xbox game, thanks for the video I enjoyed it.
It seems my backwards capable games section has disapeared off my x box store..??? Can someone help...??
Regardless of the many flaws with the backwards compatible program, you gotta applaud Microsoft for AT LEAST trying, unlike Sony.
Exactly! Let’s be honest Sony does not give a shit😂😂🤣
I'd like to hope that Microsoft's sales get a major boost from back-compat, prompting SONY to add more titles to the PS2 Classics.
Glad to see you back
I never left.
@@AdamKoralik just haven't seen you since the last Xbox backwards compatible video
Ah, well, you've got a few years of videos to catch up on then. :P
I just started Sonic Generations over again. Super smooth and looks great on my Oled in Dolby Vision
Having a big library to shop from is very appealing, but I'd bet game collectors especially would pay outrageous prices for a machine that can handle all their generations of game discs with the best performance.
that's hardware compatability basically
maybe in the future we see more original Xbox games for backwards compatible?
Damn I want to play the Otogi games but they're both still sealed and I just checked the prices. Now I don't wanna open them.
Hyped for Gladius and Gunvalkyrie.
The greatest thumbnail ever created
The og Xbox was partly green, which is the same color as most turtles... Coincidence?? I think not!!
So, I've heard that you like turtles..
@@Muzektech who told you??
It’s amazing that these games are finally playable, gonna visit my friend out of state and I’m for sure gonna bring dead or alive 3 to play with him. It also makes me wanna trade in the ps2 versions of games I own to get the Xbox version now that I can play it in 4K.
One thing to consider is that each 360 and original Xbox game has to be licensed to run on Xbox One or Series X. But, every single Xbox One game can run on Series X without the need to license it for the Series X. Why is this? It’s because the Series X is just a more powerful Xbox One.
Because it's essentially just upgraded hardware I'd imagine. The games don't need to be emulated.
Awesome video as always!
Great video!
we hope for 25 anniversary of Xbox to see new backwards compatible games?
Words could not explain how happy I’d be if bionicle heroes became backwards compatible
So many good games being left behind. Thankfully the xbox emulator for the PC being worked on will make sure that these games are not forgotten.
i just want to play more original Xbox games on Xbox Series X?
About time Star Wars Episode III gets some love
Been waiting for this video thanks
Thank you Adam for the great video. I really liked the trivia which games were cancelled as Dreamcast games and the Conan game also confused me.
It's a shame we never got the MechAssault games on backwards compatibility considering Microsoft owns the rights to the first 2 games.
Not to mention a ton of Bethesda titles on the original Xbox too.
That is a weird one where the IP is held by multiple parties. That is why we did not get that one.
Exactly.
Music and Car Licenses are the big ones.
Not that I recall off hand.
The great thing is that Original Xbox GTA San Andreas even works on Xbox one and Series X ( after a whole bloody year of hunting I finally got one last Friday ).
You will of-course get the glorified smartphone port. But hey better than nothing
It's the mobile port.
Good video. Wish we could have gotten more there's alot I like that dint get added.
Good Explanation, you really covered some good ground.
I'm so glad Secret Weapons was brought back, I played that so much! I want Men of Valor, that was also one of my favourite games 👌
Still surprised more Xbox first party games aren’t on the list like Azurik, Tao Feng, etc.
