The Behr paints that you have are super expensive for the amount of paint. You don't need to spend $ 75 for paint. You buy a decent gallon of white and some color dies that you mix as needed. Spend your money on models.
The 5 colors were about $30 of the $75. The primer was $$ at $12-$14 I think. I picked up two paint brushes for about $11. Tape is not cheap and I bought 2 rolls which I think were around $15 give or take. Not a bad idea mixing it yourself but I wanted certain colors for the look I am going for. Not sure if there is a guide out there for PPG colors to mix at home. Could check that out next time. Thanks for the tip.
@@Silverstatetrains Well, first thanks for the feedback. I understand that materials are expensive. However, I don't think that you need to be so fussy on the exact color that you may want. The sky may go from light grey on the horizon to bright blue overhead depending on the day, time of the years, plus the moisture in the air, so the range allow you pretty much anything you want. I prime everything in light grey to start as a base and go from there. By the way, your layout looks very messy at this time, waiting for what's coming.
You’re not wrong. Layout has had to take a back seat to the craziness that is life. As far as the colors, I am following the work of another modeler and I do not want to reinvent the wheel so to speak. The thought was removed as I liked the idea shared on the other channel and getting the colors was super easy. I just had to pay. Sometimes you have to pay for conscience. Thanks for the feed back. I do need to clean up the layout. I was doing wiring so I had tools all over the place plus track moved. I film when I get the time while working.
Not sure if you are aware, but a 4% grade is pretty brutal. I have a 2.8% grade on my layout and I need 2 locomotives to pull any more than 10 or 12 cars up the grade. Although, I will say it's fun to watch locomotives struggle and work hard.
You are correct. 4% is very steep. My passenger line has a 2 incline grade to reach a height of 4 inches and then it has the 4% down grade to reach a height of 1 inch. The engines will never travel up the 4% grade. I used the 4% grade kit because I had one new in a box. I will never buy 4% grade kits again. Just a matter of saving money. Since it is a downgrade only, I do not see an issue with it. Thus far anyhow. Thanks for watching!
I have A Project I’m In Right Now I am Laying Floor Tiles Against the Wall in The N Scale Room. Us N scalers Have Plenty to Do When Working On Our Layouts.
I do not miss laying tile. I had to tile so much in my house I am so glad it is over and done. That is so true. The work is never done. I am almost done with my house or I should say, I am almost to the point of just needing to do maintenance and repair only for my house. lol
