It was the Spanish that brought horses to New Mexico. "Their maker", told one of his other creations, to preside over the animals and make use of them.
@@morgan1719 Horses actually originally came from North America to Eurasia and Africa, and the Horse lineages still in North America only went extinct 10-11,000 years ago, which isn't very long ago at all. That means that the ecosystem in North America still likely can support horses just as it did 10,000 years ago, so really them running wild is likely not a bad thing in many regions of North America, the only real issue is that humans have killed most of the predators that would keep their populations in check like Grey Wolves.
I think there are definitely more humane ways to catch them, but the struggle w overpopulation and not enough food. Also the pilots don’t know what they’re doing when rounding them up either
@@HarryManbackTH-cam the drone is scaring them that's why they're running. Their wild habitat is deteriorating from too many horses relying on it for feed and water. A lot of them go malnourished or injured and would do better with a home where they are tamed and can feel safe and secure and full.
@@JIKING77 Yes, they definitely look malnourished... So what is your solution? Keep them in a cage and ride them when you want? Poke their mouths and sides because you "just love horses"?... What would you suggest?

Feral is the worst they attach to ALL wild horses. So they can call them invasive. Then they can round them up. Take out the wild animals and make room for the private stocks
The gov rounds them up every year. For "____" insert whatever reason they make up. Real reason is so ranchers can graze their PRIVATE herds on PUBLIC lands. They don't want the horses competing with their cattle/sheep for food. The gov scratches ranchers backs and ranchers scratch the govs back. Horses are the "pests" that need to go.
Don't worry about the comments who attack you for scaring the horses with your drone. They are very tough animals and survive in a desert. They'll be fine. Too many people nowadays think that nature is some delicate baby.
Actually some are so scared and run so hard they break legs and/or die from exhaustion. Yes they do run in the wild. That part is common sense. But we've seen how they are run being chased...and it's not good.
That's a full gallop! They can't keep that up long. This is why horse get dead and injured from copter round ups. A drone is probably better than a helicopter though, if handled properly. They should use horse and drones to round up rather than helicopters. I suspect this is just photography from a non-horse person.
as beautiful as this is. it highly stresses the animals out. they have been known to run off cliffs leave their offspring behind and not revisit areas due to high stress from drones. next time use a drone around horses that have been trained for it and leave the wild ones alone. its like me coming to your house and flying a drone at you. but eh. anything for the shot huh lets no worry about their well being
Man!!! all of you who are saying they can’t keep that pace up for long or talking out of your bums!! Those animals can keep that pace for at least 3 miles and they also not looked panicked to me
They'll run til they die if a human makes them. That's why it always pissed me off that Paul Revere got all that credit. All he did was yell, The British are coming. So? But they don't even bother to mention the horse he rode. The one who really did all the work. Horses don't get enough credit.
@@MarieHuff-kx4kkHe wasn’t even the one who completed the ride. The poem was written with his name because it was easier to write and rhyme. Another ride actually completed it after Revere got captured by the British.
Thats true I was in western Oklahoma many years back and ask a friend what is that on the horizon a huge pack of mustangs running full gallop for what seemed several miles, very impressive to witness. They shake the earth and stir a cloud. I never seen anything like that before or since 40-50 wild ones west of Guyman Oklahoma panhandle. They call it No man's land there. Completely wide open
They're technically feral, not wild. Wild animals (and their ancestors) have never been domesticated, while feral animals are descended from domesticated stock that were released into the wild.
Wolves, coyotes, bears, and cougars are large enough, but since they're kept well below their natural carrying capacity, feral horse populations have to be kept in check by humans.

I've seen wild horses in Nuevo Mexico.
It's part of the enchantment
They are doing a round up in Nevada and some horse's died recently. Should let them live wild and free as intended by their maker ❤️🙏.
Okay let's let them overpopulate and starve to death 😊
Yes! I am really upset by what theyre doing. It's wrong. They are heartless.

I wonder if they were running cause of the drones. I know one of my partner's older horses don't like my drone.

So what’s the difference between wild and feral? I read somewhere there aren’t many wild horses left most are just feral??
Feral is the worst they attach to ALL wild horses. So they can call them invasive. Then they can round them up.
Take out the wild animals and make room for the private stocks
Wild horses are horses who were born wild and free feral horses where once domestic but escaped or where abandoned
Horses should be free like this
Why do we not see many wild mustangs out there? Did they get killed back in the day by bears and mountain lions? Why not try to save them.
the government organises culls to limit their numbers. horses are not native to north america
The gov rounds them up every year. For "____" insert whatever reason they make up.
