Seeing how these fish are handled is why I like the MLF style tournaments better, I know it will be almost impossible for smaller tournys to adopt that style but dang don't got to throw them around like that.

I had some brown spot in my jocks and it was confusing, was it diarrhoea or was it seminal fluid leakage from the night before mixed with faeces.

Usualy for it to count as a spot it has to be a true spot. Not a hybrid as it counts as a smallmouth and needs to be 18in.

That hybrid is a "meanmouth". They count them as smallmouth in tournaments around here.
If your bag limits allow for more than one small mouth then I would suggest it would be easier on the weigh master to call them small mouths.

Here in TN I had a similar incident happen. I checked with TWRA and according to them a Meanmouth which is a hybrid from Spotted and Smallmouth Bass is technically a Smallmouth. It will have a patch along with the spots and stripes.
I've been having annoying gopro issues lately too. I'd probably think about switching brands if anyone else had comparable stabilization. Sucks you weren't able to get those catches on camera though.

Yes please fish more tournaments at different lakes in Texas and if your really filling like that’s the thang for y’all to do please please come fish the Thursday nighter tournament on Canyon lake Texas . There are between 40 to 60 teams most nights. This lake is not your typical south Texas lake most of the time 12 lbs to15 lbs win but have had one 20+lbs win this year and a few in that 20lbs in the past . Clear deep water lake . I would love to see you show me and others just what y’all can do out here .
On my home water we have a 14" small mouth limit. I landed a 13.5" mean mouth and they penalized me. Wasn't in contention to win but still!! Same deal though long bars & a tongue patch but in there defense it was super dark almost like a Florida strain

We’ve caught big BIG large heads at that same dam on deep rock piles on swim baits. We had to make long casts and let em sink then slow roll em over and close beside the rock piles and the bite wasn’t on fire but they were big when they bit. We never caught a fish under 4lbs doing that. To bad we were just fishing and not in a tournament

Tournament directors call for sure but I’m Tennessee native and a mean mouth by twra rules counts as a smallmouth!! But you did right by messaging the tournament director and going by what he said. I had a similar situation on watts bar last year and could not keep it bc it wasn’t 18 inches. Anyhow excellent finish on a tough lake!!
Hey man not tryna tell ya one way or the other and the tournament director obviously made a call, but on norfork and bull shoals, where I live, mean mouth go by the same length limit as smallmouth. Just throwing this out there, as here you classified it as a spot. This is important because on my lakes smallmouth/largemouth have to be 15 inches while spots only have to be 12
Honestly I kind of feel bad for zark. Think about it everybody wants to catch a fish like that 16lb bass. But after you do well now in order to experience the PB high you gotta pretty much catch a state record. Or go to California. I think I would be striper fishing after a catch like that.
Where I’m at they measure mean mouths as largemouth. Have the be the same length. I’ve caught some bug mean mouth that didn’t make it bc of that
