Thanks for the info! The Scorp has been difficult to learn how to sharpen properly and this is so helpful. So many people don't sharpen it like this and have steered me in the wrong direction, I should have known and just asked you how to do it properly. Your Scorps are by far the best I've ever used. Thanks for this video!!!!
I was looking for info on how to sharpen the blade of a curved spokeshave. I believe I can modify the method you are using on this scorp to sharpen my blade. Thank you so very much for posting this video.
Wonderful video. Great Teacher, and I am so lucky you put this up. I'm working very large bowl dug out with Scorp, chisels, gouges, and hand tools only. I'm amazed at my lack of knowledge, and the finisse and fineness of you manual skills. Mirror polish indeed! Thanks again, I learned a lot. Keep the videos coming. Gouges? Best way to hand hone and edge and really make it sharp?? Zooey
My Scorp is an old Woodcraft and the bevel is on the opposite side of yours. Should I have it reground so the bevel is on the inside like yours or is it ok to leave it like this. The Woodcraft Scorp is about thirty years old but virtually unused, I am making large hand hewn bowls out of thick lumber 4-8 inches thick, so it is very similar to chair making. Any ideas of how to finish out the bottom and sides of large bowls? Thanks Barr....

Hmm. Wouldn't it be easier to take the scorp to a secure sharpening stone?

Where can one obtain a blind file?
so you don't follow the bevel with the strop? looks like you're going at a much steeper angle, i always thought that would dull the blade
Could not quite make out what type of cement you used, what kind do you recommend?
He said "Barge Cement." It's a brand of contact cement, also called "rubber cement." Other brands include DAP Weldwood, and Elmers
