Imma take that head covering part a little further - wear it even when you’re just chillin around the house too if you can. Basically anytime your hair might touch a rough surface (laying on the couch, under or on a blanket, head on your car’s seat headrest, all that). I started doing this and honestly I’m kind of annoyed how long my retwists have been lasting cuz I like the frizzy, grown out look 🤣🤣 hittin 8 months next week 🙌🏾
My retwist never last 😩😭🤣 I’m eight months in budding, frizz, then I work out three days a week! When I explain the loc process to my Caucasian coworkers 😭😩 but other then that I’m enjoying my loc journey❤️congrats on the new baby! Love the music in the back ground!
I have a retwist scheduled this Friday. Keeping my hands out of my hair is definitely my main challenge. I love what you had to say about acceptance of the journey and changes. Some days I love my new locs. Other days I look in the mirror and wonder to myself “what in the world am I doing” I am realizing this has as much to do with accepting myself as I am as it has to do with my locs. Peace to you and congratulations on the baby.
Am six months loced,i always cover my head around the house n ve learnt to leave my hair alone n do its thing..my retwists usually last 3 weeks .I must say locs are the best way to maintain natural hair.😍
When I got my locks, I NEVER twisted my hair, used product, or anything at all to get my locks. I just let my hair naturally lock up and form dreads, but they actually turned out 10x better than I expected, and people would always ask me how I got my hair that way
I’m entering into my 3rd month...to think i found your channel during my first week!! So this has been awesome...and i can say my biggest challenge (I’m doing a full head Loc journey) is managing the back and sides of my hair lol...the struggle is real
come through. always practical!! Got my first style a few weeks ago. Definitely one of the best ways to preserve a retwist. Being careful though to avoid getting styles that put too much tension on those roots is imperative. Dope video!!
Thanks for the advice. I started my loc journey in August. & I can't lie, I kinda like the nappy-frizzy look. It makes me feel like my locs r a lil more natural. Keep up the vids comin
I was literally just wondering to myself where I went wrong!! I'm a month and a half loc'd, 6 days into my first wash and retwist, and I have so many loose hairs! I definitely do everything you said to do though, so this must be the start of that "frizzy" phase 😅 Great video and congratulations on the new baby!! 🙏🏽
Recently started my journey over, looking to extend the time between my retwists. Just put up a video of the beginning of my journey. Love your videos!
I'm almost in my 9th month of my dreadhawk, started with a sponge long time ago, I'm doing my real twist, probably going to take about 3 days to do since I managed to end up with over 100 dreads😂
Thank you I do my own but still its not lasting and I'm about to lose my mind starter locs I'm in that phase where they're doing what they do and lawd help! Great video
I started my loc journey today and am glad I have you as well as the beautiful people in the comment sections of your videos to take this trip with me. Keep doing your thing TP 💪🏾
Congrats on the new baby. Glad you added this video, because I found out the hard way about cotton covering instead of satin. It dries you out, but once again I’m new to this and still learning. Thanks for all your advice.
As always the good brotha TP coming though with the much needed advice! Before I locked in July I was hoping to keep that retwist and fade the CRISPIEST! But because TP prepared me and I moved down the journey road a little bit, I now am perfectly fine with expecting new growth showing most of the time on my journey and I'm looking forward to it! I'm about 1 week out from third starter retwist but this 4C greatness is making big moves! My life advice: If they can't handle you at your new growth then they don't deserve you at your retwist and fresh fade! #BigFacts
I have high top locs that I've started from two strands,it been 5 years I only use two products a tap bit of oil and leave in conditioner only use that once ah week sometimes two weeks.before getting a haircut I always wash my sides or if it time I'll just wash my whole head
Hey TP I love your videos. So far I've had two strand twists in for 4 weeks exactly. I've started my loc journey and you've been such an amazing source. I wanna ask about what I should use to retwist my locs. I'd prefer completely natural products. Even oils or butters. I hope I don't have to use gels.
@@TPlocks 🥺😲🥺😲 whaaat no way!?!? I appreciate you bro , taught me a lot. Not the Kanye work out plan. So basically what I got from that is that ladies, after you get done doing the Kanye workout, take off the cotton band and put on a silk scarf to keep your hair in place as you lay. 😂😂😂
Lol better get that retwist super tight I’m 2 months in the first 3 weeks to a month I was good then I started running my fingers thru my hair to check for length and got messy
This video came a day right after my retwist lol, all the things you listed I been doing. I'll have to show you the style when you do the next subscriber reaction video 😉 btw, congrats on your growing family! ❤🙌🏾
Good one. You've got a lot of newbies watching (I like to read the comments) ! You've said it before, but some maybe haven't seen it. Styling is great for preserving a fresh retwist. *BUT* too much styling in the early stages can compress your locs and not allow them to proudly grow. Love that ending message about the art of our locs!!
bruh I just gotta come on here and say that headband tip works wonders 🤣 Im like hows a headband gonna keep my retwist fresh and its been 4 days it it looks like it just got done
