I agree there, although not anyone's fault for any of the delays of course. The broken rail at Stalybridge looked bad, not to mention the weather and flooding! Bet it was nice and toasty on Mayflower's footplate!
I don't think they will be refunded. Most companies have 'exceptional circumstances' clauses and storm Bert would probably count as such on the insurance. You might get something from Network Rail for the broken rail situation but, again, there wasn't a failure to provide a service, and I don't think delay repay applies to TOC's such as LSL...
To be fair LSL did a lot better with 60+ year old rolling stock than most of the normal TOCs managed at the weekend!
