    Hi try using a flux to stop your solder blobbing, I use Topnik 85 it is non corrosive and works very well, Well done so far Regards Alan

      Thanks Alan for the suggestion!
      I've got some better solder since then, although it wasn't bad stuff, it was lead-frer. I've now got some proper 60/40 tin lead stuff and I find it a lot better.
      Probably didn't help as I was soldering upside down and onto rubbish tinned aluminium Chinese wires!
