As a women with a husband who i played this song for and he cried it breaks my heart how men are put on the back burner when they deserve so much for especially my hunter who provides for me and our daughter so i can stay home with her i had no idea he felt this way till i played this and he opened up to me
My father taught me everything about responsibility without ever once talking about it. He stayed in a broken marriage until every child was an adult (including one from her previous marriage). He has still never said a bad word about my mom, no matter what she put him through. He called in sick 3 days in 30 years. He'd slipped a disk in his back. He switched to carrying his toolbelt on the other side and went back to work. When he found out my mom had asked me for money he called and said don't send it because: "I provide for you. You don't ever provide for me." He does everything he can to make sure my siblings and I never have to work as hard as he has had to.
I can’t tell you how many times I sat in the driveway, wiping away tears so I can ready myself to be happy for my family. This song crushed me. To this day my wife doesn’t know about the driveway. This song needs to be heard.
It's actually not strange at all if you think about it, men are not ment to express their feelings. Therefore you don't see this topics touched very often
I have seen a lot of reactions to this song and it brings a lot of men to tears or to the brink and that should show how needed this was. So many people think men are brought up to hold it in that it is forgotten that if you take gender out of the equation we are all just human beings and we all have emotional needs and they should be heard, respected and a woman should do all she can to show a man he is valued and vice versa.
Love that song downloading to phone as I Wright this... For years I been brought being told to man up and get on with it never speak to anyone... Now I'm 37 it's really hard to speak out.... This song speaks out on a very big but hidden situation deffo 👍👍 from me
"Only women, children and dogs are loved unconditionally. A man is only loved under the condition that he provides something." - Chris Rock. "I'm not saying your problems get solved, but at least they're taken seriously. If anything happens to a man it's considered funny." - Bill Burr on women. Someone with a podcast/YT channel went round London and asked the men "Who do you talk to when your down, depressed or hurt?" Every single man said "Nobody because nobody gives a fuck about us."
It's kinda funny watching this. I'm currently going through divorce and thought I was the only who hung out in my garage! The funny part is the soon to be ex thinks I moved out here because I wanted to be alone. Really I just figured if I felt alone already I might as well be alone.
This song is heartbreaking. Dax is really incredible. I really hope this is not how all men really feel... Men's feelings do matter, they are not just providers, and they deserve love for who they are.
Most men feel this way, and it's learned from experience and reality. It's all very well saying it's heartbreaking and men deserve this and that, but a mans experience of what actually works when it comes to women is what will guide him. Women want a provider and protector, and women's standards for men have never been more unrealistic than they are today. It's just how it is now, and we all know it.
@@marquettegloves9907I appreciate this perspective. This song isn't blaming women or anyone else for this being the case. And it doesn't mean it can't change. But there is a certain permanence in the different experiences that men and women have. Expanding our culture's appreciation and understanding of women and their worth beyond child bearing and home making was deeply needed and it is the right move. But I think it amplified the isolation men feel in our lives due to a pendulum effect. And keep in mind, even if we have wives who accept our feelings, support us and love us unconditionally, what Dax sings about here is our internal experience, the sum of all of our experiences from the subtle messaging in grade school with all female teachers to TV and movies and our first experiencing being blasted when we show true emotional vulnerability. And maybe, just maybe, all wives should ask themselves as brutally honest as one must be to do so: If you and your husband have four children and it takes both of you working to support the family. Husband/dad gets injured, becomes a paraplegic. He can never work again. Do you leave so you can find help in supporting those four children?
Yes, society lets men know in our 20s that emotions have no place in our lives. It is our reality and it is lonely, but someone needs to do it for the family.
When I heard this song as a woman, it reminded me of my Dad and my boyfriend and his Dad. Specially both our Dads. His Dad was an Army vet and my Dad used to be an amateur boxer and then later on became a construction foreman. Very quiet men. Don’t complain, don’t talk about their feelings but they are hardworking men who was there for their family for everything. I’ve been with my man for a long time and I made a promise to myself that I will tell him everyday that I love him and give him hugs and kisses like my my mom used to do to my dad. I also will tell him that I’m grateful to him when he does sweet things for me just because he cares and I also compliments him when he’s looking spiffy but he just brush me off and shakes his head and said yeah right like doesn’t believe me. I’ve asked him before and he truly said he doesn’t believe in compliments but it was genuine! I idk why he thinks like but I still do it anyways to drill it to his head that he’s important in my life and there people in his life (like me) that ❤ him unconditionally. As a woman, what do you suggest I should do to help him open up bit by bit and talk about his feeling? That’s it’s ok to be emotionally open about things specially when something is bothering him? I think that’s the main reason why started drinking and has really bad anxiety after his Dad passed away. He doesn’t drink as much anymore but I finally convinced him to go his doctor (after 3 years of trying) to help with his anxiety and he got medication for it. I told him that since I lost my Dad when I was 19, I was a mess for a long time. When I met him at 20 yrs old, he actually helped me with grieving just by being there and listening to me and just letting me cry on his shoulders whenever I need to. It took me 4-5 years to heal from grief. I told him it depends on the person and I said, let me be there for you as you were there for me. I’ve been there on your shoes. My heart was broken to the point that I wanted to die (suicidal thoughts) so I can be with my Dad was such a twisted thought. I really didn’t want to live anymore because it’s a stark reminder that I won’t be able to see and spent time with my Dad anymore. So, I told my man that whatever you’re feeling is valid and not to brush it off and internalize it because it doesn’t solve anything but it actually makes it worse. He keeps saying nobody cares what he says or what he’s going through and still refuse to take my offer to lean on me for support. Like I said, I wasn’t able to convince him to go to therapy but at least I was able to convince him to get prescription medication for it. I learned how to be more patient and compassionate with him and paying attention to his moods and body language. But guys, any tips can help. I just want to help him. As women, what can we do better? 😊
i keep on sharing this idea ... this song being open verse should become the longest song ever written with the most contributing artists and i think if we crown our king this is where Elvis's should be passed because he demonstrates the example of a true and fair leader each of his subjects gets to lead through the openness of his example.. and it comes to us at a time when we have the least support and have to join together and rise up to bring a change to a world that must pull together or were lost .. and we are at the biggest disadvantage we've ever had .. but this is the time and that's what we have to do.. so we will. what makes this song special it's not just speaking on one element.. relationships, addiction, social pressure, emotional obligation, and the desire to persevere.
Dax brought me to your channel, and you both are why I'm staying. New sub, and I would recommend that you check out the Mega Remix of this song, where Dax brought in 10 awesome artists who offer their takes on the subject. Cheers!
The traits of manhood are not a social construct, they're an evolutionary reality. If a man is emotionally unstable then the children and the family structure are at risk. To be strong, evolve, and to grow into stoicism, to be a provider, these traits are all fundamentally necessary for the survival of our species. This is not a political point to me at all as my political identity is reasonable. Not Right and Not Left. But look at society today, do you see a strong need for traditionally stable, stoic, strong men? And if our country does end up in a bad war, do you see any problems with the majority of our 25 and under men being on the frontlines to fight our enemies. Not knocking those who are good strong men, but we can all see the clowders of youngsters posting their views about a draft if there is one. It's just that what our society keeps doing is pushing this it's a social stigma or a social construct that needs challenging and changing. It is not! The roles of males are consistent throughout nature. Human males may need to also possess the knowledge of social structure, relationship dynamics, gender roles, emotional intelligence, and communication skills along with physical attributes. But the way we are and what a man should be is no accident in nature. And this Idea that manhood is a social construct is Bull!
Pharmaceutical companys dont have a lot to do with mental health treatment in UK ( thank goodness!) Money is not the issue here?! There's so many men out there there wives complain they don't open up some married 15 years or more they finally open up there wives leave them it's a shame...God Less marriage does that
Yes it is a good song to have out there. Men have had to put up with too much crap. (I am speaking as a woman.) Not that we all don't struggle but the difference is men have little support and respect especially these days!
Hi... first time watching these two... Sooo... to the one on the right, he is so disengaged in what the lyrics are it is laughable. Head bobbing the entire time looking everywhere, disinterested. Mean while... the man on the left. He definitely heard the message. He was so engaged in the verse. Watch the man on the left from 1:28 in when he has a subconscious shoulder twitch, to 2:15, ..... THE MAN BLINKS 11 TIMES..... the man was engaged.

I do find men hanging out at parking lots I figured they must need extra time to transition to go back to home life
FACTS ..TY BROTHER...I FEEL THE SAME
It's strange that this message has not been in more songs. This is the first song I've come across with this powerful message.
It's actually not strange at all if you think about it, men are not ment to express their feelings. Therefore you don't see this topics touched very often
When's the last time anyone has ever cared about men and how they feel? Kinda the whole point of the song
Dax is a genius just got into his music past two years.. amazing rapper
If you really think the point of the song is for men to open up and talk and "be in their feelings" then you didn't pay attention
Exactly, it just goes to show they still don’t understand even after being told. But we don’t expect them to understand 🤷♂️
Lol, women, show me emotion, man shows emotion, woman asks for divorce
I have seen a lot of reactions to this song and it brings a lot of men to tears or to the brink and that should show how needed this was. @Rosieepooh75 that's exactly how we feel and how the world is. To modern women men's feelings don't matter. It becomes something to be exploited.

that song just makes me want to man up more it sucks and its life but their is pride in the struggle
That struggle though drives men to suicide at a 3:1 rate compared to women.
It's women, children, and dogs. That saying comes from a Chris Rock skit. He stopped his show to talk about how hard it is to be a man.
i keep on sharing this idea ...

the best song and lets you know we feel useless most of the time
Love this and other Dax tracks. They are insightful, honest and great for the spirit.

this song isn't about men being emotional
It’s women and children and dogs not daughters and it was originally a Chris Rock joke even though it’s not really a joke💯💀
