Vanilla has vanillin. Like Ambroxan, Coumarin, and Veramoss, Vanillin is powder and acts as fixative.

Hi! Yes, actually added a clarification note in the description of the video re: this. Thank you for pointing it out :)

Thank you. Good to know there are real perfumers in the Philippines, since our perfume market here are flooded with cloned perfumes claimed as locally made. Let's create original perfumes for Pinoy and let's start making names in the fragrance industry. 😍

Hello po, ask lang po ng basic paano gumawa ng unscented premix? Ano po ratio po ng alcohol to other materials such as fixative and dpg and water. Also paano po kung gusto mo walang water yung premix?

I think you're refering to the carrier or solvent. The only thing you need to add to your perfume concentrate (the juice) is alcohol (and water depending on the concentration of your final perfume - this is called wetting the alcohol). DPG is usually in your fragrance concentrate already since most perfumers will use it as fiiler to complete the formula. Also there are perfume ingredients that are solid lie veramoss, vanillin, tonalid, calone. We will dilute these materials using DPG, TEC or IPM to make it liquid and easy to dose. So when you put them in your formula, you are also putting DPG.

@@theojava glad to know that someone knows the use of dpg as a solvent. Usually, ang tinuturo kasi, dpg's role is a humectant alone. While this is true naman, but its primary purpose is a solvent for some solid materials. And I'm not a fan of adding dpg in my final blend. I just use it as a solvent

How much fixative can I mix on 235 ml perfume?

The amount of fixative you need depends on your fragrance’s profile, desired outcome, and the type of fixative used. Here’s a quick guide:
      1. Consider Your Fragrance’s Needs
Longevity: Does the scent fade too quickly? Use low-volatility fixatives like Tonalide or Ambroxan.
Projection: Does the scent stay too close to the skin? Avoid heavy doses of Iso E Super, as it can dampen throw. Instead, try diffusion-enhancing materials like Hedione or Ambrettolide.
Depth: For richer, more complex scents, use exalting fixatives like Tolu Balsam or patchouli.
      2. Calculate Fixative Amount
Fixatives are typically 1-3% of the fragrance oil volume, not the total perfume. For a 235ml perfume with 20% fragrance oil:
      Fragrance oil = 47ml
      Fixative = 0.47ml to 1.41ml
      3. Test and Adjust
Create two versions: one with the calculated fixative and one without.
Evaluate longevity, projection, and balance to determine if the fixative is enhancing or altering the fragrance as intended.
      4. Alternatives to Fixatives
Increase fragrance oil concentration (e.g., from 20% to 25%) to improve longevity and throw without adding fixatives.
Use natural materials with fixative properties, like sandalwood or tonka bean, to stabilize the scent and add character.
      Final Thought:
Tailor your fixative choice to what the fragrance needs. Test carefully, as some fixatives like Iso E Super may dampen throw, while others enhance projection and longevity. Focus on achieving the desired scent experience with a balanced approach.
