    Something else to add to my list of “Must Do’s”! I know I have a jar of unsweetened applesauce that’s yelling for me!😂 You make my life busier, but it’s so much fun! Thank you for all your expertise and for being my dehydrating guru! You’re very appreciated! ❤️

    I'm so glad I've found your channel! I've been binge watching. I've had my dehydrator for years, but I've never really "used" it. So far, I've done eggs, celery, and just as an experiment, I've got oatmeal in it this morning. Thank you for explaining things so well, and giving me the courage to use my dehydrator the way it can be used.

    WOW! This is a whole new world to me and I am amazed at all the things I can do with my new dehydrator. Fantastic video, thank you so much!

    I also add some pureed lentils or other protein rich legume and some dehydrated green powder mix. These two ingredients make the fruit leather healthier. They are so tasteless that the family will not realize that they are eating a healthier snack.

    Classic Darci! Brilliant yet simple and affordable. Thank you! I use a little liquid pectin to keep mine pliable, but you don't seem to need it. Maybe it's because I start with fresh and frozen instead of canned? I should try this!

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm using applesauce - it has all the pectin built in ;)

    This is funny cuz I saw several cans of apples sauce in the pantry of a friend I gave it to months ago and they haven't used. I was wondering if I couldn't make them into fruit leathers and then you droppped this video! LOL

    How long can you store these? And do you store them rolled up and placed in a Mason jar on a shelf in the pantry? Thank you.

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We don't store them for long - they are meant to be eaten. But can be stored for about a year - choose the way to store that works best for you. In a roll full size, in smaller rolls for serving sizes, in chunks, etc. And yes, in an airtight container - whether it's a mason jar or other airtight container.

  • @vickinorris5878

    Thanks so much! I know you said you can store in a jar but do you vacuum seal? How long is this shelf stable in your opinion? TIA

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not more than a year - they aren't worth storing for long-term to me. Eat them and enjoy them ;)

      Rehydrate them and then cook with them as you would have before.

    Marcie how long does dehydrated potatoes last. I have them in Mason jars & the jars have been vacuum sealed?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว

      Optimally dehydrated foods are good for about 2 years (give or take a lot of variables), but potatoes are ones that are good about five years.

    If I have the flat round trays for dehydrating do I need to prep them ???? Can I add honey to sweeten it ?????

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean those plastic trays? I would put something on top of them -- parchment paper or even plastic wrap. If you want to add honey, you can, but it's not necessary - applesauce (even unsweetened) is already very sweet.

  • @patfranks4024
    @patfranks4024 ปีที่แล้ว

    Some jarred applesauce is very watery. Can I just put applesauce in a strainer to get rid of so much liquid before dehydrating?

    • @ThePurposefulPantry
      @ThePurposefulPantry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You saw me use really watery applesauce and dry it and how it turned out. Yes, you can, but you'll likely lose a lot of the applesauce in the process. I did mention putting it on the stovetop to reduce it a little.
