That was a cake board and it wasn’t left IN the cake. It merely supported the topmost cake layer and when that layer was sliced obviously no one sliced through the cake board too. How do you think do those towering wedding, debut and anniversary cakes manage to stay upright without the top layers caving in or collapsing on the lower ones?
Good question It happens that the cake size are 8inch 6inch and top 8inch diameter To avoid collapsing the top layer side I put cakeboard on it to make it steady 😊🙏
AND he was using an INK pen to mark with....or was it a food pen? I am not particularly appreciative of those tubes...need to get one and play with it...doesn't appeal to me right now.

mmdzw florida hi, thank you so much 😊, it’s just only black colored butter cream frosting , yeah sure you can use any of the cake sponge that suits your taste , it will hold those 3 .....just to have the dowels and the cake base from the top sponge ..... yeah sure your sons will love this design 😊😊😊😊😊
