Jackson, lets hear some talk about Jabbari and his improvement. 3rd yr jump. I think he's of kinda being forgot about and think he is going a big big part of this core.
Good pod Jackson. Jalen will have a breakout season this year because he has finally understood how he needs to play to effect the game in a winning manner. Ime has shown him the difference between street ball and winning NBA basketball. I think the end of last year we saw a different player starting to emerge. his basketball IQ improved and he is using that to take advantage of weaknesses in the defensive schemes being thrown at him. I also believe he grew up. he seems more serious about his craft and embraced the leadership role that Ime was demanding from him. the mini camp he organized is a reflection of how much he has matured. I think he has finally had his lightbulb moment
My only question is would you trade Jalen Green for Jalen Suggs? Not necessarily this offseason, but next offseason. Suggs can naturally play both guard spots. I think Rockets will use this year as final test to see how well Jalen Green and Alpi mesh within the offense together. If it fails, then I think a sign and trade can be orchestrated in restricted free agency. I think this will potentially be final test for both Jalen Green and Suggs for consistency & fit with their respective teams.
@garybankston9319 Herb Jones has the defensive tenacity that Ime Udoka loves, but I don't think he has enough offensive upside for me to pull the trigger on that trade. Herb can't even create his own shot. At least Jalen Suggs is a former top 5 pick in the same draft as Jalen Green. Suggs can play both guard spots and can create his own shot as well as for others. The Jalen for Jalen trade would satisfy both parties. Coach Moseley desires more offensive consistency from Suggs. Ime desires better playmaking and overall offensive consistency as well as defense. I think it's as fair of a swap we'll get 🤷🏾♂️
@@kordarensmith4745 Jalen Green would love to be with his homeboy, Paolo Banchero. Herb Jones IS a Ime type of player. I'd like to see the offensive focus switched to Fred, Alpi and Jabari. I watched a lot of podcasts that are giving me the same vibe. I played basketball and you have to make your defender commit to defend a move you are not going to make. So far I have not seen Green exhibit the skill to read his defender. I could be wrong. If we have Herb, Dillon will not be missed at all when he is moved.
@garybankston9319 Jalen CAN make his own shot. He just doesn't do it consistently enough, nor can he read the game well enough to create for others atp. It's his overall lack of consistency for. That combined with him being a liability on defense. I think Ideally Ime wants multiple guys that can create their own shots off the dribble, as well as somewhat create for others. All while being able to defend at a high level (ie: Tari & Amen). Although Jalen Green has the higher upside, I think Suggs is the better fit within the offense with Alpi. Plus he's a dog on defense. With the offense going through Alpi, he wouldn't be required, nor does his offensive game need to be super star esche. Jalen Green's insistence on being an iso scorer, often times, messed up natural flow of offense. Especially, given the fact that the offense flourishes best with Alpi being the offensive hub. It goes without saying imo they'll move on from DB and FVF after this coming season. They'll ultimately have to choose between Jabari and Tari as well. After this year, I'd love to see Jabari get some back up 5 minutes combined with playing 4. However, in the end, I think Tari is the better fit offensively & defensively alongside Alpi. Given my hypothetical scenarios, my dream Rockets lineup would look like this: Reed Sheppard Jalen Suggs Amen Thompson Tari Eason Alperen Sengun (Offensively, 1-5 can score and create) (Defensively, could switch 1-4)
No way! Jalen's been one of the worst players in NBA in the last three season if you review his performance. He's yet to achieve a positive BPM rating. In other words, he isn't a descent starter or a good 6th player yet. He was at the bottom of the League BPM rating in his first two seasons. The last season was better but still below average. He could be a more complete player by being more consistent and increasing his rebounding, assists and steals but usually a SGs averages drop with the age.
If you understand the game, anyone can look at Jalens skill set and see his value. Which is why he can play like hot trash and still be a hot commodity.
