Hi Tom, I just wanted to show appreciation and say it's great to see how you've rejuvenated your GVR4 back to its glory. I am very shocked to hear about so many people not knowing what it was. I hope to buy one in Bezel Green or Summit White in the near future, to modify and restore. Its also nice to see another DSMer keeping these cars alive. I had a 92 Plymouth Laser RS N/A (my first car), 90 Red GSX, 93 panda color scheme Talon Tsi AWD, and a 95 3000GT SL (It was my daily driver while owning the GSX and Talon). I can't wait to see you finish the Miata, and best of luck with it!
MeloYellow91 Thank you for the kind words sir and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos! Good luck with your VR-4 search, they are great cars with a very distinct character.
2:17 the Galant literally looks like the magazine page from 1991 from Mitsubishi. I love your attention to detail how you clean the car, to how you make your videos, and then show off the end result! Amazing work that not a lot of people will put their time to and have no idea how to do either.
Tom's Turbo Garage I'm glad you finally shared your plans with the car. I love how it turned out. I love what you are doing with it. It seems to be the same route I am taking with my DSM. I'm the third owner and it was almost completely stock when I got it. I didn't want to ruin that. So I installed a full interior, installed Evo 3 16g, upgraded side mount, injectors, etc, but kept the stock exhaust, no front mount, no visible modifications from the exterior at all. I want to see how far I can push this while keeping it stock appearing and sounding. I will be watching closely. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you for all of the kind words Christopher! Sounds like you have a great setup and I'll have a similar setup for sure. Good luck to you and thank you again!
As the owner of 598/1000 and 17/2000, I enjoyed this segment Tom. She looks great and your comments were spot on. It's always great to hear the comments and reactions from others when you show them what it is and how rare it is. Keep it up and i'll be following as always.
The result is astonish, its real car from very good time period. Just to maintain a car like this is very rewarded (in my opinion). I am very glad i found your youtube account.
I watched all your videos. I'm a car detailer myself and you showed me so many good things you sir are incredibly talented in our craft one day I hope.my skills can produce results like this. thank you I love the car it was a treat to see this transformation
Hey man love your videos you were saying you were going to do some power mods to it ,how bout wiring a evo 8 ecu on it there's plenty of how to on forms and stuff. And lots of benefits like data logging and etc.
Thank you as always my friend! I worked really hard on this video, especially the Galant "reveal" part. Better equipment helps too, as I used my Rebel T4i for that part and the quality is much better than my HD camcorder.
Fantastic, fantastic car! I love seeing a genuine car guy take care of an old, rare beauty like this. Congrats on owning such a machine. I can't wait to see what you do next! FP box... FP Black!!! They had some pretty sweet deals on their turbos this season! Will definitely be following you in the future.
OMG Tom! We demand more entertaining videos that you make! LOL I really enjoy every video you make (especially when you build or restore) Take your time on the build... but not to much as i cant wait for the next video. I cant think of anything negative to say about your videos, and looking at your like/dislike ratio on your vids, i don't think anyone has anything to say but Thanks! P.S great job on the music too. Outstanding
Thank you for all of the support Alexandros and I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I really wish I could spend more time making these videos (and making better music too). That said, it's always great to hear from folks like you who enjoy them and look for some more fun stuff coming soon!
this car is going to be a high demand japanese collector in the coming decades. i grew up on japanese cars, 1997/98 and i didnt even know about this car until recently!
Great job on the Galant Tom, looks like you went back in time and bought it new off the dealership show room. Looking forward to the performance upgrades.
Im not a big "jdm yo" kind of guy, but I cant stop noticing just how Japanese this car looks. And you did a hell of a job cleaning her up. It just makes me sad that they cant make cars like this nowadays. But that said, It will make one appreciate a fine example like the vr4 you own. Great work tom
Thank you Reed and I appreciate that! I always tell people that this car has a very distinct Japanese character and appeal. It is an excellent car to drive too.
Love it, and what your doing! I have been wanting a VR-4 for YEARS.. I swear though I can never find one thats not someone else's half cut out project.
How did u get those birds to fly in a V . lol Your a lucky guy to have found that VR4 . Or maybe VR4 # 1444 was lucky to have found u. either way love to see this piece of history get a new life. To be out at car shows were it belongs. Though I am not a Mitsu guy. my buddy owned a VR4 back when I had my equally rare 93 Subaru legacy turbo . We would work on each others cars. We went head to head when ever where ever we could. Weather on the dyno or on the strip or street. This build brings me back to simpler times. HAPPY HOLIDAYS and thank u for the great vids. I hope to do the same on a new channel when I score my 1st gen Legacy turbo
Haha, I've been working on my "bird whispering" lately! Thank you for all of the kind words! Happy Holidays to you and I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Good luck on your search for a Legacy Turbo and I would love to see your videos when you find yours.
Nice job! I'm from brazil, i have a mit space wagon, and i love those cars! I liked your videos, was a hard working with fantastic results. Congratulations by the machine, my friend!
Thank you Gustavo, I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I love the space wagon too! We have a version of it here, but the 2.4L AWD 5 speed version is very hard to find.
Thank you and there are two great Cars & Coffee meets here. The one hosted by EAG is smaller, but a tighter knit group. The Harper Auto Square C&C is at West Town Mall and is absolutely gigantic. It is a spectacle!
i love what you've done to the galant, and since i'm a dsm owner i know that is not easy to find a car like that and it is evan harder to keep it bone stock, congrats bro!!!
Well done! I had one that looked almost exactly like this one and I loved it. Unfortunately I had an accident - collided with a roe. So I had to sell it. But it was probably the most beautiful car I ever had.
Amazing work, Tom. Inspiring. I'm curious how you fixed the damage bumper that was shown in the first video in this series. Did you take it to a professional?
thanks man theres plenty out here just not in the shape i like but u have inspired me to find a galant myself lol even tho ive always been about eclipse i love the sleeper aspect very much
your next car should be an aw11. I have an 87 mr2 that Im restoring right now and the only people that seem to know what it is are older gentlemen saying they wish they still had theirs. it is a very extraordinary car that many people have forgotten about or just don't know what it is at all. but regardless I love watching your videos and learning new tricks and seeing that im not the only one that's crazy for a clean car and willing to take the time to detail every little bolt lol.
Thank you for the kind words and suggestion Justin and I have tons of respect (and a very soft spot) for the MR2. Maybe someday, as I just picked up a two seater of a different sort, but you never know! Thanks again man and have fun wrenching!
Thank you Colin and I appreciate the suggestion! Here's a nice set of pics and info regarding DIY rust repair, good luck with your 240! www.galantvr4.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Board=UBB3&Number=1153811&page=0&fpart=1
Turkishdoumbelek Thank you for sharing that, I'm glad I can help! Good luck with the project and yes, I mainly know Japanese and some American cars. I like European cars, but haven't owned one in a long time.
Cool project Tom, unfortunately we only have seen mitsubishi cars in Canada for a few years but I was aware of the model didn't know there were only 2000 produced. I was wondering how you painted the black trim around the Galant? What paint and process? My 92 talon has all it's trim faded, the lower window trim dried up and cracked and separated. Keep up the good work.
Id like to auto swap one of these someday. i wonder if the galant auto shifter from an N/T would drop right in? My legs dont work so it'd kind of be a necessity to owning one for me.
Plenty of debate on that, but the first generation 6 bolt engines are superior from a strength standpoint. That engine can be put in the newer DSMs so it's just depends on what you want.
Car is coming along nicely and looking forward to my vr4 when I find one not molested by mods done by the less superior eye for detail. Part of NewEngDSM and can't wait for the shootout in June. Will you be going?
Hi there and thank you! Good luck on your search, there are nice VR-4s out there, it just takes patience to find the right one. I'll definitely be going to the DSM/Evo shootout, not sure if I can make it to the one in June.
I agree with that when it comes to the very glossy ones. But a slight sheen compliments the the deep gloss after the polishing and waxing he did. A slightly better look than dull rubber look.
Surprised to hear as I can see the shine on the car and being white its not easily apparent. Thanks for letting me know and hope you had a great christmas and hope you have a happy new year as we all await the next episode:)
Hey Luca, not sure what the future holds really. I've always appreciated Supras and European cars, and have worked on them in the past, but Supras are a big up front investment and my knowledge base on European cars is rather small, so it would be like starting all over again. If I had more time I would love to build a lightweight turbocharged inline 6 BMW.
Things have been really busy, but I hope to post a new video soon. I have the Galant, Grand National, IS-F, MPV. My wife has a car too, but I promised her that I'd leave it alone. Haha.
Hi Caleb, I don't have any plans at the moment. That said, I've always got my eye on things :-D Nothing specific at the moment, but there is one constant- I want a V8 RWD sports car again someday.
Tom's Turbo Garage What are you going to do with the 4g63 from the talon. Very sad to see your article on your website about it. But hey all good things have to come to an end even if it has 600+ awhp and a massive turbo.
AISIN also makes the water pumps for 6-bolt 4g63s. Don't ask me why I know? Okay fine, Jafro is sitting right here next to me showing me your channel. He says great work, because people want Galant videos. He also said, "it's been a hell of a good year for Tom's Turbo Garage." I don't know why I didn't just let him type it?
Hi there and yes that's absolutely true! I don't believe this local factory makes those parts (according to what they told me) but it's a darn impressive facility nonetheless. Please tell Jafro I said hi and thank you for the support! I love the heck out of everything he does!!
ive been following this on galantvr4.org from what it looked like to what it does now i find it hard to believe you didnt respray it the paint is prestine
kbcustomz I know and thank you! What attracted me to the car originally is that the paint wasn't faded or peeling. Once I saw that I knew that there was a shine hiding under there that could be brought out! I have buffed out/restored paint like this in the past on other cars and it is amazing how oxidized paint can come back. It's almost as if (at some point) the oxidization protects the deeper layers of paint?
It very well might, appreciation of these cars in New Zealand is slim to none unfortunately they get hacked up by in-experienced school boys. I wish people would watch these videos and learn a thing or too, myself im building my 1991 galant vr4 rs but ive gone the direction of your talon. thank you for taking the time out of your life to document these things and appreciate your interaction with fans, good luck with the build. cheers, Ben.
Hi Tom,

MeloYellow91 Thank you for the kind words sir and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos! Good luck with your VR-4 search, they are great cars with a very distinct character.
Man, I gotta applaud all that work you did to make the Galant beautiful again. Bravo!
2:17 the Galant literally looks like the magazine page from 1991 from Mitsubishi. I love your attention to detail how you clean the car, to how you make your videos, and then show off the end result! Amazing work that not a lot of people will put their time to and have no idea how to do either.
Thank you sir, the kind words and support mean a lot to me! Hope you have fun wrenching on your car(s) too.

Thank you again for the kind words Joppie! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
The geese appreciate your work so much that they made a V in the sky for this super clean and original VR-4!
Haha, love it!
Absolutely phenomenal car. Great work keeping her shined up Tom! What a gem!
Thank you sir!
Fantastic outcome Tom, you really do great work. The car just looks amazing. I cannot wait to see what's in store for for #1444.
Thank you for saying that and I'm glad you're looking forward to the future videos!
I watched all your videos. I'm a car detailer myself and you showed me so many good things you sir are incredibly talented in our craft one day I hope.my skills can produce results like this. thank you I love the car it was a treat to see this transformation
Absolutely amazing job! Being an OLD DSM guy I loved these cars. You did one heck of a job and I look forward to seeing your stealth mods to it.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it and check out the new videos if you haven't already. The stealth mods are underway!
That looks like it just exited the production line. It looks that clean! Amazing job Tom.
Thank you for saying that, I appreciate it!
Hey man love your videos you were saying you were going to do some power mods to it ,how bout wiring a evo 8 ecu on it there's plenty of how to on forms and stuff. And lots of benefits like data logging and etc.

Some of your best editing/production to date, love it.
Thank you as always my friend! I worked really hard on this video, especially the Galant "reveal" part. Better equipment helps too, as I used my Rebel T4i for that part and the quality is much better than my HD camcorder.
this series was amazing, I really admire the patience you put into it, I will sure check out your other videos now!
Thank you for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed the videos!
Thank you Tom and Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
There is no other place like East TN.. Thanks for sharing the sights as well as the progress made on your car!
Dylan, you said it man! This is a beautiful spot with so much to offer. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Fantastic, fantastic car! I love seeing a genuine car guy take care of an old, rare beauty like this. Congrats on owning such a machine. I can't wait to see what you do next! FP box... FP Black!!! Thank you and I appreciate the kind words! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and stay tuned for lots more cool stuff! :-D
Hey Tom its been a blast watching these videos! Beautiful car and you truly got lucky finding one unmodified. Real treat for sure!
Thank you Michael and I'm glad you enjoy them!
awesome Tom, you did a great job in restoring the VR4. it's my dream car.
I didnt know you lived in Knoxville, I live just north of Nashville. I feel like your car should be in a Mitsu museum or something.
Thank you sir and Nashville is a great town!
Hah, that was an early option when you debuted your career in gran turismo 4. The specs seemed to be very interesting and are so IRL.
I'm deeply sorry and regretful for watching this episode on the toilet. It deserves much more respect then i had given it.
Haha, I could only imagine all of the places that these videos get watched! :-D
I literally died laughing when i saw this
tom i have a mitsubishi galant 1992 look like this i love this car so much

I have a Galant GTi 1992. Hopefully, I will be able to bring its condition back same as yours. Very nice
this car is going to be a high demand japanese collector in the coming decades. i grew up on japanese cars, 1997/98 and i didnt even know about this car until recently!
digimon916 That would be cool. It is an interesting vehicle and a time when Mitsubishi was doing their best to gain a foothold in the US.
Damm i miss this car. I was almost born in this car, and still best ever car. Some day I wil get one again and make it a beauty like this one ;-)
Tom Aisan are a large supplier for Mitsubishi too. The gearbox, OE water pump and many other components of the E39A Galant VR-4 are Aisan sourced.
Yes indeed! I have seen the Aisin logo on tons of stuff over the years. This particular plant doesn't make those items though from what I was told.
Great job on the Galant Tom, looks like you went back in time and bought it new off the dealership show room. Looking forward to the performance upgrades.
Thank you for the kind words, it has truly been a fun and rewarding project! Lots more cool stuff on the way!
Awesome! Definitely looking forward to your plans for this one. Happy holidays, Tom!
Thank you and Happy Holidays to you my friend!
Thanks for the video Tom. One day I'll be lucky enough like you to stumble on a find like yours. Great job!
Thanks and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great job with the detailing!
Awesome work!
Just loving that vr4, cant wait to get mine rollin!
Thanks Peter and good luck with yours!
I've been drooling since Part One!🍻🍻🍻

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TOM !!!
Have a great Christmas and New Year John! Thank you for supporting me throughout the year!
i can't wait for the next few episodes !!!
Thank you Nick, I bet you'll enjoy them!
Yet another great video Tom. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you sir, glad you liked it!
Outstanding results! Didn't know about Cars & Coffee. Apparently I need to make my way to Knoxville more.
Thank you and there are two great Cars & Coffee meets here. The one hosted by EAG is smaller, but a tighter knit group. The Harper Auto Square C&C is at West Town Mall and is absolutely gigantic. It is a spectacle!
Great job! All that hard work paid off!
Thank you Mitch!
Wow awesome result :O Car looks like brand new ;) Great job Tom!
Thank you Janis!
i love what you've done to the galant, and since i'm a dsm owner i know that is not easy to find a car like that and it is evan harder to keep it bone stock, congrats bro!!!
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Stay tuned for lots more fun stuff!
Well done! I had one that looked almost exactly like this one and I loved it. Unfortunately I had an accident - collided with a roe. So I had to sell it. But it was probably the most beautiful car I ever had.
Thank you and sorry to hear about that. :-/
I didn't have good luck with 4g63's. In fact, I gave up on them. I'm glad yours seem to run well. Can't wait for next video

Thanks man, stay tuned! :-D
Tom thanks for this video Happy Holidays from the Koy DSM family. Aloha
Aloha to you! Happy Holidays and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
That piano jazz music is totally gran turismo loved it
Thanks man! I didn't plan on that when I was making the music for the video, but I agree that it ended up with a very "Gran Turismo-y" vibe.
Wow! I love oem Japanese vehicles, love your hard work and video's, keep them coming. :)
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
nice ride..This makes me really miss my dsm more and more daily.
Thank you!
Very nice, especially in white!
Amazing work, Tom. Inspiring. I'm curious how you fixed the damage bumper that was shown in the first video in this series. Did you take it to a professional?
Thanks Lucas, yes I took the bumper to a local shop. 👍🏻
thanks man theres plenty out here just not in the shape i like but u have inspired me to find a galant myself lol even tho ive always been about eclipse i love the sleeper aspect very much
Good to hear Zach! Yes, the sleeper aspect is my favorite.
your next car should be an aw11. Great stuff as usual !
Thank you sir!
Thankyou, and merry christmas :D
Merry Christmas to you!
I look forward to your videos, fun to watch, interesting
Thank you and I'm glad you enjoy them!
you need to post the products you use to make your cars look like new on your website and what store to get them at
I want to see the original owners reaction to the car now!
I agree Joseph, I've been trying to meet up with them.
Super clean video like always
Thanks Jason!
Merry christmas tom
Jason Sepúlveda Merry Christmas to you!
Can't wait to see what you end up doing to it.
Thank you Trevor!
Awesome job tom... big time motivator for me to get my rust bucket gvr4 on the road. Treating the underbody like new via KBS Coatings.
Glad I can help Matt! Good luck with your GVR4 and I hope to do something like you're doing someday too.

Merry christmas yo, may there be many turbo goodies under your tree for you this year. :)
Thanks Reece and I wish the same for you!
thank you fpr the video, Tom.
I though I was the only one who loves to clean cars.
Glad you enjoyed it Alfath!
this is what owning a classic car or any car for that matter is about
Man i love it !
Hope you will restore more old cars like this galant :-)
Thanks man! You know me, I'm always on the lookout. :-D
thats great to know :) Do you work on european cars as well or only jdm and american muscle?
BTW i got a frind of me who also own an old Mitsu Galant from 1991. We want to restore it as well. We got inspired by you hehe.
Turkishdoumbelek Thank you for sharing that, I'm glad I can help! Good luck with the project and yes, I mainly know Japanese and some American cars. I like European cars, but haven't owned one in a long time.
Makes me want another one to keep stock
Sounds like a good plan to me! :-D
Hi there and thank you! I covered the trim painting in one of the previous Galant videos - check it out and good luck with your Talon!
Awesome job! I drive an evo 8 myself and i love all these old school cars that run a 4g63. I would personally take this galant over any 3000gt vr4.
Thank you!
Came out nice
Thanks man!
Id like to auto swap one of these someday. i wonder if the galant auto shifter from an N/T would drop right in? My legs dont work so it'd kind of be a necessity to owning one for me.
There is someone that is in the process of doing that on the Galant forums right now. I think it would be a great setup and lots of fun too!
Thats awesome, i'll have to look it up. I'm using a 2.4 galant block in my 2g so i guess i already have a little bit of Galant :D
***** Haha, indeed!
What is the best years to buy a laser, talon or eclipse if you want to build a lot of power?
Plenty of debate on that, but the first generation 6 bolt engines are superior from a strength standpoint. That engine can be put in the newer DSMs so it's just depends on what you want.
Car is coming along nicely and looking forward to my vr4 when I find one not molested by mods done by the less superior eye for detail. Part of NewEngDSM and can't wait for the shootout in June. Will you be going?

I can't wait for more
Thanks Austin, stay tuned my friend!
am doing a 95 talon esi as a project got it for cheap it has changed so much over the year
Austin Redhead Cool! Good luck with it!
Tom we need some tire shine on those nice treads.
I always though tire shine looked cheep.
I agree with that when it comes to the very glossy ones. But a slight sheen compliments the the deep gloss after the polishing and waxing he did. A slightly better look than dull rubber look.
Jason O Hi Jason, I actually did use a light coating, it just doesn't show in the pictures I guess.
Surprised to hear as I can see the shine on the car and being white its not easily apparent.
Thanks for letting me know and hope you had a great christmas and hope you have a happy new year as we all await the next episode:)
Jason O Thank you Jason and Happy Holidays to you too!
Hey Tom when are you going to get a Toyota Supra or something from europe.
MOAR POWA!!
cant wait for the new videos ... sorta what i wanna do with an Eclipse GSX, but maybe a bit more on the fire breathing side though :D
Thank you Jordan! Good luck with your GSX!
im excited
Thanks man!
Are we going to see a new video soon, and by the way i never asked how many cars do you have.
Things have been really busy, but I hope to post a new video soon. I have the Galant, Grand National, IS-F, MPV. My wife has a car too, but I promised her that I'd leave it alone. Haha.
What are your wives toys that she won't let you slap a good old turbo I'm sure you have laying around
Great video, i knew you wud put turbo or something to that :D
Thank you Timo! You know it man! :-D
Are we thinking for spur formance HTA 68
You'll have to stay tuned!
I love it when people clean up the badges nice instead of debadging the car. When I see a debadged car I am disappointed.
Will anymore cars be joining the Turbo Garage in the future if so what cars would you have your eye on.
Hi Caleb, I don't have any plans at the moment. That said, I've always got my eye on things :-D Nothing specific at the moment, but there is one constant- I want a V8 RWD sports car again someday.
Isn't that what the isf is for, sell it and twin turbo an m3
Tom's Turbo Garage What are you going to do with the 4g63 from the talon. Very sad to see your article on your website about it. But hey all good things have to come to an end even if it has 600+ awhp and a massive turbo.
caleb Reedy Hi Caleb. No plans for it at the moment. Just going to put it on the engine stand and check it over to see if it needs anything.
Another Mirage with an AWD swap
Really Nice
Thank you Liomar!
It sure looks great Tom! So what does your wife drive for an everyday car? Does she drove the ISF or is that your everyday car?
Thank you! The IS-F and my minivan are my everyday cars. My wife has a family truckster that she really loves.
Like your intro a lot
What ever happened to your talon? I've always had a soft spot for them.
Hi Brantley, I sold it as a rolling chassis. talon.turbomirage.com/talon_goodbye.html
Love it!
Thanks man!
nice job tom, its your turn now jaffro
Thank you and Jafro has so many awesome projects going on. I'm sure he will bring that car back to it's glory too!
ive been following this on galantvr4.org from what it looked like to what it does now i find it hard to believe you didnt respray it the paint is prestine
kbcustomz I know and thank you!
What is the song played?? Sounds like Jan Hammer
Hi there, it's just something I whipped up. I like to dabble with music for better or for worse. :-D
Very similar to a car we have in australia called the mitsubishi magna.
what a masterpiece
