When I lived in Beverly Hills I went to a lot of estate sales for homes originally built by silent film stars. In a few cases the current owner was only 2 removed from the original one and you could imagine why actors were considered royalty back then. They had an elegance that just doesn't exist anymore, a class all of their own. Lilian Gish was an embodiment of that. It makes me very sad to know they are no longer with us.
The fact they haven’t is a disaster. The director was Sweden’s greatest director before Ingmar Bergman. And Lillian, the greatest screen actress of her time. It is unbelievable.
Thank you for providing this. My favorite Silent Film. Loved this intro on the VHS. Wish this (and others on the MGM Silent Classics list) would come to Disc
I have this movie on DVD, it's a piece of my beautiful collection of silent movies. Here you can watch this movie with a semi-improvised soundtrack by the Edge Ensemble: vimeo.com/235370424
What a lovely, soulful person Miss Gish was!
This woman is class and sheer, natural talent, personified. One of my very favorite actresses, in one of what I consider one of her best films.

More movie history in this two and a half minutes than most people will learn in a lifetime.
The great, timeless Miss Lillian Gish
I have just watched this picture. In awe. Gish plays a woman driven insane by sheer loneliness. Still in awe.
I wish they’d release The Wind on Blu Ray
Me too, with the Carl Davis score

Lillian Gish is so cute
Don't make me cry...
I love Miss Gish. She had real talent.
Sounds like, as in the case of Mary Pickford, she could’ve run the whole studio if she wanted to.
She did well may she rest in peace
