  • Hey guys,
so this is a question I'm getting asked quite often - how do I do my Micrografts on thick stocks such as T. Pachanoi, peruvianus, and hylocereus....
Well, Since I had a small emergency, and i had to degraft a scion I found myself with a spare stock, so I took the opportunity to make a quick video on how I do it!
Please note that this is just my way of doing it, and I'm sure as always that there are more than one way to get to the result that you want :-)
I hope that this helps you somehow though, and hopefully you'll enjoy this tutorial!
If you have any questions, please comment down below and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
To those that are following me since the beginning and have watched my seed sowing project, these Fricii cultivars were the first ones I sowed in that video, so they have been developing quite nicely!

    Take Care!

Attempting to use aloevera as grafting glue grafting larger cactus on more established root stocks. My root stock had its tips removed in exchange for being looked after as i found a house.

Excellent demonstration, and have you tried using Schlumbergera cactus as a stock for grafting?

When aligning the vascular bundles, you mentioned air pockets. Would a drop or 2 of water in between them prevent that do you think?

What is the best root? Myrtillocactus Geometrizans, hylocereus undatus or Harrisia jusbetii? Which grow more fast?

Do you ever superglue the graft edges? I started putting a tiny bead around the edge a couple days after the original cut and haven’t lost a graft since.

So you don't put pressure like rubber bands or tape on the scion and they still take? I've been trying to graft seedlings onto opuntia but it's incredibly hard to apply tape or bands because of all the spines so I wonder if I should forget it and just stick it on.

How do you remove the graft when it has gotten sufficiently big? Does it grow its own roots?

At one point of maturity of lophos do I need to worry about applying a significant amount of pressure with things like rubber bands when grafting?

How much light and what kind of light do you give them the week after the graft?

  • @chetmanley2462

What do you do for other the part of the scion that has roots? Could you graft that too?

So you don't harden off the seedlings before grafting? Have some at a month and would love to just graft on at 3 months
