  • A step by step video of how I make my scoopable wax. So many people have never heard of it. And still there are those that have a lot of trouble getting it just right.
    Here is the recipe:
    Experiment with different oils to find which one you like better. I use vegetable oil.
    Making Scoopable Wax
    You will need:
    16 oz. Good quality soy wax
    12 oz. Canola, Coconut, Olive, Vegetable, or your choice liquid oil
    4 oz. of Fragrance oil
    Your choice of colorant
    Directions
    1. Use scale and measure out your wax, oil, and fragrance.
    2. In double boiler, melt wax to 175 degrees.
    3. Add your liquid oil…stir thoroughly.
    4. Add fragrance oil and if desired, your colorant.
    This recipe will make 8 - 4oz containers.
    Now this recipe I found doesn't include any other helpful instructions so the whipping technique is extra.
    Pour your mixture into a metal or glass bowl. Cover with cling wrap and chill for about 15 to 20 minutes in freezer, just long enough to have hardened outsides and top but still soft on inside. Next, scrap the hardened mixture off the sides and stir in with the softer part and when you mix that together, get a hand mixer and whip, whip, whip! If it's too hard, let it soften a bit and that second round of whipping will make it soft and creamy. Pour into your jars and it will set over night. Just use any spoon and scoop it out. Good luck!
    All wax, fragrance oils, and candle dyes were purchased at
    store.southwest...

    I use Crisco. That is what they made candles out of anyway.. LOL I use it for my scoopables and Loaves to melt. Works pretty good and there's no odor, I'm going to try grape seed oil too. Best of luck to you! xo

      Hi, thanks for posting your comment about crisco because I was about to make tarts and wasn't sure if it could be done without the more expensive waxes. How did it go?

    Sound wold have been good.
    Sweet Almond Oil or Another one light like that should be used. Not Cooking oil. And Ecosoya Q210 (aka Ecosoya CB135) is the safest wax for Various Skincare + Melts, Scoopable Wax + Candles In and Jar, Container, Tin etc it holds the FO & EO Excellently In bot Hot & Cold scent Throw.

    Hi Ladonia, love your video!!!! Question though, could I use an ice cream scoop instead of putting them in jars??? I have seen a video where a gal made ice cream scoopable wax.

    Looks like a lot of FO. It holds more than tarts then? I may try this, never heard of this before. Thanks for posting.

      @ladoniarichardson1049  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      DonutCare Yes, I tried lesser amounts of FO but the scent wasn't strong enough for a good throw, maybe because of the added oil. And you're welcome! :)

    Lovely video, I made an 20oz candle using soy wax I measured 3tsp of fragrance oil. My issue is I'm still having trouble with measuring the fragrance, also having issues with the candle cracking on top while drying. What am I doing wrong?

      +reddrum eyecandy You should probably weigh your oils. :) Also, what temperature do you pour the wax into the container at?

    • @ladoniarichardson1049
      @ladoniarichardson1049  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +reddrum eyecandy It might help if you use a soup calculator. It helps me to know exactly how many ounces is in a tablespoon, etc so I can weigh my fragrances by ounce.

    • @searching4PEACE2012
      @searching4PEACE2012 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you need to weigh your oils bc some oils are heavier or lighter than others. 3 teaspoons of FO will not be the same for different oils. you could be short changing your project or wasting oil. if you're using 9% FO load, your 20oz candle should have 1.8oz of FO and 18.2oz of wax. thats the most efficient way to do it with no wasting wax or fragrance. blessings.

      as for the cracking on top, your wax is cooling too fast. maybe you have a draft in your cooling space?

    What wax are you using

  • @jakebeatty2001
    @jakebeatty2001 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    why didn't you just measure out your wax in the metal pouring jug to begin with, surely that would have been easier instead of having to transfer it from one jug to the other, but great demo although would have preferred to hear you speaking.

      Katrika Moore If you make it at night, you can let it sit overnight. Or let sit for about 3 hours.

    • @ladoniarichardson1049
      @ladoniarichardson1049  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Yes, you can use either soy or paraffin wax.

    • @mstexascowgirl2148
      @mstexascowgirl2148 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacqueline Nash can you use beeswax ? I've read soy and paraffin are toxic

    • @tishatittle1010
      @tishatittle1010 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      mstexascowgirl2 paraffin is a petrollium by product and soy is natural, so it's not toxic, it's really whatever you want to use...soy is generally a softer wax and used more for tarts and melts

    • @babygirlhehe9748
      @babygirlhehe9748 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tisha Tittle soy is used for candles more than melts because its soft lol it breaks easily when coming of molds and doesn't have a clean snap in clamshells like paraffin does
