- The Sears Tower (a.k.a. Willis Tower) was the tallest building in the world for 25 years. It is still the tallest building in Chicago and is one of the most popular tourist attractions for travelers to the Windy City.
After their most recent renovation in 2021, we stopped by to check out Skydeck Chicago and The Ledge, four glass boxes attached to the 103rd floor of the Sears Tower that let you stand above the city of Chicago.

What's good #GustoGang, we visited the newly renovated Skydeck Chicago to check out the experience, is it worth the $35 price of admission?
While visiting Chicago my family and I were debating if this experience would be worth it. After watching your video we decided to squeeze it in on our last day before we left town… we are so glad we did. It was worth the cost, the photos we have of it are amazing and the views were unparalleled with anything else we have done. My kids are 13 and 10 years old and we all really enjoyed this experience.
Wow Chicago is one of the most beautiful City in the world as you can see all the huge huge buildings and perfectly beautiful views.
Easily THE most beautiful city in the world from the simple fact that no matter what direction or angle you take a picture of the skyline from, it is absolutely picturesque. It is extremely difficult to take a mediocre picture of the Chicago skyline
The Sears Tower and John Hancock Center, looks like timeless buildings. I mean, the John Hancock center was built in 1965 and the Sears tower in 1970, and they still look fashionable to this day.
Okay I like this better than the 360 one we went to on our trip!
They just renovated it, before they had barriers that prevented you from getting up to the windows. Those were removed except one, which I guess they left for nostalgia purposes haha.

I am traveling to Chicago this Thursday. My tickets have been purchased for the Willis Tower Skydeck. Can't wait to be there and enjoy the city.

Excellent video Luis, it’s definitely worth the price, what an experience. I have been up there twice in my visits to Chicago, the L-train experience looks superb too. You always seem to get more content in your videos, that’s why we love you. 😁🙏
When you look down it’s also kinda hard to see the L train on the ground speaking that you go over 1000 feet
I was last there in 2017 when I was 12 years old, the old lobbies along with the lunchbox entrance was there way before they got ready and rebuilt the base. Long time before as soon as you used to walk in there was this elevator in the old Jackson lobby that takes you down to LL2. The waiting room which has the SkyDeck fast pass connected is the first room you have to go through and there was this orange “103” sign which is still there at the Sears Tower. Next you’ll see this room with a table with light up colored pads I can’t explain tho. Third you’ll wait outside the hallway to go in this theater room that talks about Chicago from the past and the Sears Tower and lastly the “Tower Room” is the last room before you go to the top you’ll see one of the walls that shows the height comparison of the skyscrapers. As of now all of the old experience rooms and lobbies of the Sears tower is all gone now.

Went there our first evening in Chicago, clouds passing, sunset ting, it was an amazing experience. Pictures I couldn't pay for. Best start to the trip. Rest time walked and took the bus and trains!

I was just there back on Monday, and I hadn't been in the Sear's Tower since I was in high school. I think it's definitely worth doing once. I was also gonna try a handstand on the ledge, but my brain and body went "nope" at the last moment. lol. I think it was the looking down part and the irrational fear of the thought of me kicking out a window that got in the way. lol. Maybe if I go back there in the future, I may give it another go.

I get anxiety just from watching you on the ledge. I grew up and still live about 30 miles from the sears tower (Willis 🙄) and have never went to the top. It’s scary to me lol

I prefer the John Hancock for daytime views. There's less chance of the view being obstructed by fog. But the night views from the Sears Tower are amazing.
Went there a few weeks ago on a weekday, no line and very few people at the top, it was unbelievable how few people were there. On a clear sunny day to. That must not happen often!
That's dope, we went on a Sunday at Noon and the crowd size was lower than average but we still had to wait a few minutes for the Ledge. Thankfully it was nice & sunny when we were up there!!

Could you feel any sort of sway in the building being up that high? Sway makes me super anxious!
@A F Asking someone else if they felt sway might not be any help since sensitivities to that vary a lot of different ppl. I recommend popping 2 Xanax footballs, and washing it down with whatever garbage beer is a "local favorite" in Chicago before you go. Or don't go.
When I went up there, in 2010, I crawled out onto that platform. Why I thought it would be safer doing that I don’t know, all I know is I could not step out onto it 🤷🏻♀️ These days I can’t even step onto a down escalator.

I took a woman up there once on a date and she told me "These tall buildings have something to do with the End of the World." Back then it was free. The late Mike Royko once did an story that the real Chicago Pizza is THIN CRUST. It has to be cut into squares.

I just went there, they talked about the layers of 1.5 inch thick glass that could safely support over 10,000 pounds. For reference the heaviest recorded person to live was 1,400 lbs, and this thing can support roughly 9 of him. Also I understand if it was a joke.

Hey Luis👋🏼 does it really take 30-45 mins just for the elevator to make it up to the sky deck? Read a review where she was upset that the elevator is so slow getting up and down and feels it took up much of her time. (We’re on a time crunch once in Chicago) , so I gotta plan accordingly 🤣😉

it only took a minute and i went to the sky deck 2 days ago. I was also scared it would take forever to get to the top but it was super quick and done in no time.

The new name which was given to it years ago sounds stupid. Willis doesn't roll off the tongue the way Sears does. I don't understand the name change but everyone I know still calls it the Sears Tower.
