- Yes hello yes! Today we are taking a look at Alestorm & Patty Gurdy's new video for "Voyage of the Dead Marauders". A really fun video, some beautiful sets, and just a fun time all-around. Would love to know what you think, too, and if there's maybe other Alestorm videos that I should check out? Maybe something that leans more heavily into the pirate theme? The Pirate Republic is very much alive today. Long live the Pirate Republic.
I had the pleasure of seeing this love a few months ago, along with Party joining them. Such a great vibe, love the hurdy-gurdy in metal somehow!
In terms of content, Alestorm is pirates, but the exterior usually doesn't match it. This is also there stage outfit. And they probably walk around with it in their private lives too. They were created as a parody of folk metal bands.
The crank thing is a hurdy-gurdy. Hence the name Patty Gurdy. When the Arabs conquered Spain, they brought string instruments with them to Europe. During the reconquest, the Spaniards replaced the bow with a disk that was turned with a crank. This makes a permanent tone possible. There are also drone strings for a permanent tone like a bagpipe and snare strings as rhythm strings. In the 10th century it spread across Europe in different variations. Another couple cinematic music videos to add to your list by the German band Saltatio Mortis to add to your list, My Mother Told Me and Pray To The Hunter. Alea and the band are into cosplay and LARP and tend to be the ones making their own costumes.
Please do yourself the treat and check out "Finsterwacht" by Saltatio Mortis. If a video takes four full days of shooting with a huge crew, there is SO MUCH for you to look at. Don't worry about German lyrics, theere are captions.

@@elricthebald870 I effing love Feuerschwanz and that song in particular. But I have to say that from a filmmaker perspective an epic short film like Finsterwacht has more to offer.
@@Andy_from_de Can't deny that. Finsterwacht is by all means a short movie.
Saltatio Mortis is definitely interesting for you, especially their last Song "Finsterwacht" is like a small movie.
I think from a film maker's perspective, Concrete Cages by Scardust Feat. Patty Gurdy. There some very intruging Scene transitions you'd find fascinating.
Alestorm is an awesome band if you love pirates.

If you like horror movies then ice nine kills is brilliant as all there songs are about horror movies.
Alestorm also do this cool thing where they put fun stuff in the captions while the solos are going on. This song has facts about frogs. Most alestoem videos have them but all

Have you heard The Last Saskatchewan Pirate? Alestorm did a cover of it, but there's other versions.
Regarding your comment on the outfits: if you want to see cool male outfits I'd suggest taking a look at Warkings or Powerwolf
