Idk why you have such a problem with the TEG series being tiny! It’s for people with a smaller budget being able to afford a “large” game and for those who don’t have a lot of room to play huge games

I find the TEG overpriced myself. Maybe there's a lot in the box, but I don't want to spend the same amount as I would for a medium-sized game.

One problem with the series is the massive lapse in quality between different games. Galaxies and Dinosaurs are nearly classics that I could recommend to basically anyone, Mechs and Quest are pretty good and fun, Kingdoms and Zombies are alright, then there's stuff like Western which is outright trash. It's just so inconsistent to the point that you can't trust the brand name.

Doesn't HoM&M is much more of an adventures and battles game, while this one is much more about civilization and conflict?
Apart of the theme, I'm not sure they are really related..

So it's essentially a generic civilization video game on the board where you have to calculate everything alone rather than have it done by a computer... Is that fun? Also, one thing I've learned so far is that board games with pre-printed maps do not work in a long term, the best example of which is Small World. The author of Small World DID realize that later and decided to publish SW Realms. Now, in 2018 you need modular boards really...

Unfortunately I find the art style of the characters fairly hideous (I get that they are stylised and it's an artistic choice, but they just look ugly and poorly made to me) and it actively discourages my purchase. Nice review though!

This game looks really cool, BUT...
I can't help but feel like this is a game that would be far more convenient and enjoyable in video game format, and instead it's a big clunky board game that demands a lot of table space, set up, and tear down, and invariably costs about 3 times as much.
If I could boot it and go into a matchmaking queue, start a game with a friend, or challenge the AI to a game, and have the board set up, ready to go seconds later, it's something I'd play dozens of times over. In the form its in, I'd probably play it once in a blue moon because of all the time it takes to play spent not-playing.

I believe it to be an attempt to turn the Heroes of Might and Magic video game series into a board game. To me, it looks like they did a good job of it.
I think a lot of the complaints are people wanting it to play more like some other game that they liked.
Same complaint you get from people who don’t give HoMM a chance

The most important thing said in this video was that it doesn't fit on a kallax shelf. That made my decision for me. No need to look any further at this game.

I totally understand... They made it so there is NO way it will fit? Gloomhaven fits. Mythic Battles Pantheon with everything fits. If this doesn't fit it almost seems like that was on purpose. "Make fun of our small games will you!?"

Serfs ? LOL !! I imagine the conversation during development went something like "Hey guys, ahhh do you remember what happened with five tribes ? Precious snowfl...ehhh some people don't want to see the word slave in a game !", "What's a synonym for slave ?" "Serf it is then !". XD Unrelated to that, i am very happy that this game has no dice in it ! As such, the combat should be strategic and more skill based. I am excited for the game although i am a bit worried about the price. I am sure the retail price will be high. Oh well, time to begin saving up !

Weren't they always called peasants ? I don't remember the workers being called serfs at least on the ui. I might remember wrong though.
