Great series of 5 videos gave me the courage to try tinkering with the timing after putting it off and staring at the "broken" sewing machine on the dining room table for 2 months. This video is of the exact model we have at home. Yup, the hook was late, and advancing it solved the problem. The demo's on tension, and diagnostics with zig zag, 4 layers, and looking for dots or clots was really helpful. Now I have a basic understanding of tuning these babies, and I hope I can keep my wife on a roll with her projects. Long live Fixit Culture!!
I had to retime mine after I bent a needle, looks like the belt managed to slip a tooth. Thanks for the vid! Its difficult to see the hook when its in the correct position in relation to the needle. One thing to emphasize is the hook picks up the top thread and not the bobbin thread. 🎉 Happy New Year!
Can you guide me how to solve timing issue in brother PC 8000 sewing machine, my machine breaks thread oftentimes and can't sew a y embroidery pattern.
I had one of those 12 years ago that had a broken plastic gear. It was not available so could not be repaired. You have to adjust the timing with the needle in the left position.
2:03: I used 2 tablespoons, closest thing to those curved green tools LoL! EDIT: On the downside, I eff'd up my machine, trying to do this timing adjustment 😞
@@faithp777 mine was tightened with one screw in the back -which I didn't notice at first. After unscrewing it is easy to gently unclip and remove the part from the case.
Hello, when I watch your videos as I live in France, the majority of technicians in France take sewing machine users for incompetents and fools who are just there to pay for maintenance and adjustments on their sewing machine. sew between 90 and 150 dollars
Plastic---not great--- It's a Piece of junk. Singer last great machine was the 500A The 600 Series wasn't too bad, until they started using plastic gears. and the 700 class was fair for a while. Singer sold out and they started contracting out their machine production and mostly they produced junk. If you want a really good machine buy a Bernina.

I have the same machine, and as the top thread goes around the bobbin case, it sometimes gets caught and breaks my top thread
I just bought this old sewing machine. Is there any way how to replace the bulb? I have no idea about that. Can’t find this bulb model anywhere
where could I find the prybars like you have
I found some good ones at harbor freight, I'm not really impressed with the quality of any of the offerings on amazon.
@@SewingMachineRepairGuy Perfect! I was planning on going to Harbor Freight this evening!
Hello, that part you call the rotator do you know if that part is available, that is brittle on mine and needs to change if possible

Good video
Just wanted to say Thanks again I was having bobbin winding issues I changed spools and it works fine now
That problem can also occur when changing the hook timing belt on a sewing machine.
I have the same with my inspiration 4205, also the belt is making a noice.
It is only used a few times. 😒
There is a screw in the lower middle that you need a long cross screwdriver, only professionals have
🎄 Merry Christmas Wes! 🎄
They sure don't make it easy for you.
Brilliant video.
Singers are very cheap plastic frames these days. I wouldn’t touch one of these.
Bravoo 👌👌
