    Oh my goodness, what beautiful and inspiring gardens. Thank you for sharing these wonderful spaces with us, Danielle. Here in my hometown, we have the University of Kentucky Arboretum, the state botanical garden of Kentucky. Within its borders are over 1200 native species of plants, trees and shrubs. Among the many separate gardens are the herb, vegetable, rose, fruit and nut, fragrance, children’s garden, perennial collection, ground covers and the All-American Selection Trial Garden and others. It’s been a while since I visited there; you have inspired me to go back soon! 💚

    Wow this is so beautiful!! Thank you for showing. The last arboretum I've been to was Secrest arboretum in Wooster ohio. That was so beautifully done. There is another place although it is not a arboretum but rather just a large community garden in canton ohio that is worth checking out of your in the area. It has lots of plants particular for butterflies and a "kids garden" etc. Its near several tourist attractions like the pro football hall of fame. This particular garden is located within the stadium park. It also includes a john F Kennedy memorial and Right next to this park also includes a huge memorial for president William McKinley.

The one in canton is nowhere near the size as the Wooster one but worth a stroll through. Children help out in the garden too. Many people use this garden for weddings photos, graduation photos, and high-school dance photos. The McKinley memorial is a sight to behold. Amazing structure. 👏

    I enjoyed this video of this fabulous garden tour when you first posted it in July, but here I am enjoying it for a second time in February while my zone 3/4 garden is hibernating under snow. I do like daylilies, but I only like dark purple petunias when in containers with other annuals in a wide range of purples, and then set in amongst bright marigolds. Thanks for creating a video that keeps on giving! 🙏🏻

    Great gardens, thank you Danielle for showing them to us. It makes my heart happy that there are gardeners that volunteer to make this world a little more beautiful one garden at time. I love the fact that there are so many native flowers that support wildlife. As for petunias, they are not my favorite, they are water hogs and need too much fertilizer which is not good for your soil, and they are useless for the pollinators. I grow less and less every year and really looking forward to times when there are none in my garden. Also the new varieties are prolific and they are good if you need to fill an area quickly, but they really are not playing well with other flowers, they are way too aggressive and choke every other plant if you plant them with something else. And they are too commercial looking too! There, I said it!😁

    This is amazing! My husband and I are in the beginning stages of transforming our property from overgrown with invasive plants to a native paradise! We are planning both a general pollinator garden and a butterfly/hummingbird garden!! Many of our native plants overlap with yours so this tour is so helpful!! Thank you!
    Daylilies: generally not a fan…our deer eat them every year!
    Petunias: I like one PW variety, otherwise they are great budworm trap plants!! 🤣

    Hi from Australia, the plant you asked about is breed from Australian native to Western Australia which is very dry and hot. I cannot imagine it would last through your winter , it also requires low potassium fertiliser or no fertiliser as Australian plants didn’t evolve using this nutrient as there is very little in our soils. Ordinary fertiliser will kill it
    Having said that it loves the sun and doesn’t like to be moved once in for a while, best grown in a pot where you are so you can take it inside. Love your videos during our cold winters!

    • @lisagibson1839
      @lisagibson1839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was Mulla Mulla right? Randomly saw it at Bunnings the other day too. Never thought of it as a plant you would cultivate as it just grows everywhere in the Pilbara. Have seen quite of few plants drought hardy plants at work recently that I've been like ooo that would be a really nice foliage plant for bouquets wonder if I could sneak some cuttings.

    • @Kay-qt2id
      @Kay-qt2id 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lisagibson1839 yes that’s the one, can you believe someone would sell that where you have snow in winter! Compared to Pilbara (not been there myself) . I thought I’d be the only Aussie looking at this TH-cam station!

    The petunia question is so good - in the 70s my granny would let me choose a market pack of petunias every spring - I always chose the striped ones, some years red, some years purple. As a gardener, they are not my favorites but....a big container, on the deck, of Proven Winners petunias (any color, but black cherry and Bordeaux are my favorites) is unbeatable. I no longer buy the market packs that granny did but I still grow a pot every single year, and always remember the excitement I had in choosing them and remember her. ***Side note - buying PW petunias also made me a convert on a lot of plants, spending the extra money on PW product is sometimes completely worth it.

      😃 That is so nice! I bought a trailing, double petunia last summer that was a real change from the usual PW varieties. I love PW too, but it is so good to be able to grow something unique, from an older variety of an annual or perennial. It makes everyone's gardens special, unique and interesting. 🥀🌺🌿🍀🌷🌱

    WOW! So BEAUtiFUL. Thank You for bringing this to us. In regard to the question towards the end part of your video about the plant if it would be good for dry flowers. I think the plant's name is PTILOTUS. I've had some in my zone 10 garden. They are native to Australia and they are drought tolerant. The first time I had them, they were annuals that liked the cooler temperatures. I got two this year, one has fizzled out, the other still has some greenery to it so I'm letting that be. I don't think they make good dry flowers. They get this grey/brown color and the color bleaches out.
    Petunias are very PRETTY but they are such divas! Mine always get the budworms. I prefer the calibrachoas, those are perennials in my zone without any fuss of having to spray or pick bugs off of them.
    Again, AWESOME time in the garden with you today.

    So much inspiration! Love the mix of veggies, herbs and flowers. So well done! Would love to see more in-depth native plants plus enjoyed comparing the different Rudbeckia varieties. Would love to see more of the trials (different echinacea for instance. Such content would be great to show in early spring when not much else is happening beyond dreaming about the start of the gardening season).
    I think petunias suit a purpose, but they aren’t particularly interesting flowers. Daylilies can look messy but they do provide nice color in the heat of July. Inspired by your video to add more liatris.

    As for your question...I do not like Petunia or Impatiens. Nice tour, nature garden is my favorite.

    I love the petunias! Reminds me of my childhood. My Parent's always had them and now that they're gone I'm especially holding on to everything that reminds me of them. I especially love the supertunia. No more deadheading and always full of flowers. My hummingbird loves em too

    This garden is so beautiful I love there appears to be NO weeds! I wish mine gardens had no weeds. Weeding is endless and disheartening!

    Those are beautiful, well organized and well kept gardens. I hope more people in your area are able to visit them. It's great to have markers that tell about the plants too. I enjoyed them all but found the Potege garden a great example of how to combine vegetables and flowers. Haven't grown petunias in quite a few years, they are Ok but but not very useful for cut flowers.

    Thank you for the tour, gorgeous gardens. I think my favorite was the butterfly garden.
    I LOVE petunias.

    So loved this tour Danielle, so many great ideas! Please share any answer you get on the mosquitos 😂 I'd also love to know where those large square tomato cages are from!
    I also interplanted calendula and tithonia (currently 8 feet tall 🫣) with my veggies and it's been a hit with the monarchs and bees, and I've had the best veggie pollination ever!
