I plan to help a friend who just picked up a OpenSpot3. He already has a working traditional Pi-Star working hotspot. If the OpenSpot is configured for the same freq and TimeSlot as the working Pi-Star Hotspot should everything work with existing CodePlug? thanks
Open spot is very simple to set up just add the same freq and your up and running but better to use a different freq them u can have 2 modes / radios at the same time time slots dont matter on openspot 3 it works it out for you .
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones I have not tested a OpenSpot but I have built and configured several of the Pi-Star raspberry pi hotspots. I need to find a good video showing how to configure the OpenSpot3 before I help my friend do it. Thanks for your reply. I wanted to get him up and running as quick as possible. Later I can copy and paste and change freq should he want both hotspots running at the same time.
@@n1kkri when you turn the openspot on do a search on your wifi and you will see openspot connect to it then follow steps . This video will help You add dmr number call sign and country . th-cam.com/video/vjR6Og0ul9w/w-d-xo.html
Hi, great video, When I connect to Brandmeister through Openspot 3 everything seems to work ok, but when I turn off the Openspot 3 and try to connect to Brandmeister through my home Hotspot , I have to either Apply changes to the DMR Configiration or reboot the home Hotspot.
Hi John - I am presuming you have a MMDVM Jumbo Spot it should always stay connected to dmr once configured, but i have noticed quite often i also have to reboot and select apply changes .
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Hi Andreas, thanks for the reply, yes it's a MMDVM, I've been in contact with SharkRF but they did not know what the the problem was, I'll keep digging !!! if I find anything out I'll let you know. 73's

So you can’t pick TG’s through the OpenSpot? Just got the 4 pro and trying to figure it out.
I tried a test on Carolina Link and heard nothing. Had my FT3 on wires x into that room. Then used the 878 through the OpenSpot. Couldn’t hear myself.
Yes you can either use tg number or name .
