I love how you're so realistic about what kids are going to do with and around ponies this is. I've run to parent saying "oh my kid won't do that/I'll just do it for them so he won't step on them" and it's like thats not helpful. This way the KID is learning and has a pony safe to learn from! Great job.
It's great that you guys raise awareness for the need to train ponies for kids. I see a lot of people just buying a pony and letting it bad stuff happen because they can't be handled by the kids they are given too. I remember all to well biting the dust buy being brown from overused school pony, bitten or kicked as a kid because there where no competend adult supervision (parents was of corse a part of the lessens, but they had no idea what they were doing with horses)
I just think it's a different mind set when you are a Mother too. Growing up our Ponies were like our dogs. We did everything around and on them. Even if they went blind and were very very old. They would even try and wedge themselves between kids and Horses to try and protect the kids. Now we a re teaching our kids about riding and got two horses. Might do a Pont for our Toddler to start with if he wants. I have *5 BOYS* and getting them to be calm around horses and move slowly is my hardest task it seems. No matter what age. Kids are kids. But they learn.
I feel like if more people treated their kids’ ponies this way, ponies would loose the stereotype of being “crazy”. I’m sure this would prevent a lot of injuries too! Great video!!!
This is such great information and ideas . I just bought a 19 year old pony off a friend for my 2 and 4 year old …. She is great at all that ground work stuff , they can groom her to bits and mess around etc but when it comes to riding and leading she’s really forward !! She shakes her head when she is ridden , pretty hard that my 4 year old fell off !! And leading her when they are on her is hard work as she walks so fast I feel I am pushing her back . Would love to know how to change this behaviour especially on a 19 year old pony !!! She’s such a friendly sweet pony
Hannah, great questions! Alicia said: If you follow this video, it will fix the leading issues, of running away. It takes patients and repetition, but if you EVERYtime she runs or pushes, you correct her. She will start to wait for you... Interms of the head shaking.... I would potentially get a dentist out. There maybe an issue there. If not then a physio to ensure there is nothing astray!" hope that helps ! xx
@@YourRidingSuccess wow thanks Alicia ! I am so happy to get your reply ! I am definitely going to work hard on Minnie to correct her every time and not just use my body weight . A dentist is a great idea especially as she is so old ! Thank you so much , loving your videos !
This is so good :) I feel like a lot of pony owners should see these videos. And yes it's unsafe but it's still safer for us as adults to do it consciously to train the pony than for a kid to do it just because it is young and doesn't know any better.
@@YourRidingSuccess I do enjoy your content so much :) And no I haven't seen that yet. Have you put out the official announcement already? I'll go take a look
excellent! Not only for your pony my 6 year olds 15 hand quarter horse plays jump rope off his lead rope attached to his face. He will stand while she rolls plastic barrels at him and jumps on and off of them and he is only 9 not old and tired. I think any horse a small child is around needs this level of training. The children must be taught to be safe but until they are old enough to do that consistently the horses they are around can be safe. It just takes time great great video now I have to get her pony to be as good….. lol

Wow how cute and it must be fun to act like a kid for training a pony ❤️
It is fun! And George is very cute, but who is cuter - George or Margot?
@@YourRidingSuccess haha that’s a hard one 😂❤️

Yes! It is a very different mindset when you are a mother versus when you are the child with the pony!
Super smart training in preparation for your child. Think like a child 🥰

@@YourRidingSuccess it's quite nice accident, wearing different socks is sign of supporting people with Down Syndrome :)
