@bose5160 Dude, MS uses Xbox only hard drives/SSDs. Sony and Nintendo use storage you can get for everything else. So they are much cheaper. Compare a 1tb Xbox storage to a 1tb M.2 SSD. The M.2 is 100 bucks cheaper.

I would love a Xbox X Digital (Discless), but it would compensate with more storage with a 2TB, or even 4TB Internal, and with 2 to 4 Expansion slots to add NVME up to 8TB on each slots… making it closer and closer to a defined Xbox PC :)
Outside of collectors, I’d be interested in knowing how many people will actually buy that 2tb Series X. Six Hundred bucks is a ton to ask for a console that’s been out 4 years, hasn’t really been selling well anyway, and has very little updates outside of a new paint job and an extra terabyte of storage. To be honest, the digital version should have 2tb for 449$. When the series X first came out, 1tb of gen 4 ssd was 200$. Now you can find 2tb from anywhere from 140-170$. Plus, im sure the console is a bit cheaper to make now as well.

So that’s what Microsoft meant by the console refresh leak. I like how the special edition Series X looks and the SX without the disc slot is what the Series S should’ve been all along. I feel that Microsoft should abandon the SS and discontinue it and leave it on discount shelves so they can only focus on the X consoles.
As they removed the disk drive, which i am good with, id have expected there to be more space inside and so they could have leveraged that to make it a bit slimmer. The size of the X is a real minus point for me, id have been well up for a slimmer model X even if it was a little bit.

It would need to be external and I don’t think you can play games off the external drive so you’d need to transfer it every time… which is what I do, don’t get me wrong, but there is value to having it be built in… it’s invented value since they made it all proprietary but still.

Now Xbox just came out with the first upgrade and new model after the 1st one. That tells you a lot. I don’t do the argument of which is better. But I just to owned PS’s and now I am with Xbox. Yes, Microsoft charges to much for an external SSD. But now other companies are selling SSD’s that are cheaper. For me 1TB is enough, and if I want to play a new game: I just download it. Simple!!
