I was reading over the laws for EV's here in Florida - it appears that if I want to be able to traverse upon streets w/mileages of 35+, that my EV must be able to go at least those MPH on whatever the roadway calls for. I love this vehicle and would need one that goes at least 40mph.
If florida has passed an lsv law I have not heard about it. You have to have at least a learner's permit for moped under 35. People drive like morons in so many of the big cities I don't think I'd be brave enough to drive this in Pinellas or Hillsborough counties and likely not Miami Dade either. it's 45 mph to hop on a highway and while florida has more city roads than a lot of places i've been there are still places you have to be able to maintain that 45 to get where you're going.
really nice bike super sweet !!! a solar panel on the roof would be a help to keep power going in the batteries especially when its sitting at work for instance . just a thought!
That small a PV solar panel would produce only enough electricity to run a small cooling fan, like those in desktop computers. The PV would add weight and decrease range unless it replaced the glass and metal roof entirely which would destroy any rigidity this rickshaw has. Solar panels are too fragile to be right over your head.
Solar panels are also extremely expensive. Can drive up the price by thousands. Just look at ELF solar powered trike cost, I live where it's made, but the price is just too ridiculous. Solar panels should be an optional upgrade.
Very good, it could use a small gas motor to power a heater in the winter a well as quick charge the batteries as an option. It can kick in when the batteries are low and turns off when no longer needed. It can be portable like a foot square or less install it like a drawer, slide it in place, plug it in a couple of wires it's on. To gas up the generator, (which it is) a small removable can, to fill up for a winter package. This is Beth's brother.
All of the ZEV trikes already have heaters, and an option for a heated seat. There is a tiny serial hybrid generator coming out for the pickup truck model as a range extender for 300 miles
I love the appearance and obvious care that seems to have been put into the design, and construction of the ZEV T3. I do have some questions though, as I'm really looking at, and desire to get one of these for myself. I'm nearly 78 years old, no longer drive. I've severely injured myself in an accident (non-vehicle related), and for that reason, do not trust myself on a two wheel vehicle. Further, I really am comfortable with driving a vehicle that gets no more than 20 MPH since I have no desire to get another driver's license. As I live in an area where we occasionally have some pretty heavy rainfall, and, or snow in wintertime, and also have questions regarding handling of moisture collecting on the inside of the windshield under such conditions. I'd really appreciate videos showing how the ZEV handles under such conditions. I saw such videos made for the ELF, and these convinced me that the ELF is not viable as a replacement for an older man wanting to maintain his quality of life. I also saw the forward vent, and rear window vent on the ZEV, and wonder how well the vehicle is ventilated in Summertime. Thank you so much for being so patient with me, and am looking forward to hearing from you and seeing these videos. I really have no desire to continue relying on others for transportation to go to, or from short shopping trips, etc., or having to walk to, or from the TRAX, caring heavy bags among other things. , oh, and by the way, does the ZEV have turn signals? @@grahamemaurer4412 I don't know Grahame. Here in Utah, the vehicle itself doesn't need to be licensed, registered, inspected, etcetera, but any vehicle which is power by any other than pedal, or horse, etc., requires that the driver be licensed.
Mr. Christopulos, I see that your question was not answered. The trikes are USA DOT legal. They have turnsignals, backup lights, horn, high low beams. With the windows down, the forward facing top air scoop, the vehicle is quite well ventilated. In the winter it has a heater / defrost. We operate in the monsoon areas of Asia and the snow of the mountains here in West Virginia. No issues. Trikes do not do well in snow because the cars make ruts, but there is none for the front wheel. In fresh snow I drive fine, The more the snow gets pitched to the center between the ruts the more issue. For your needs I would recommend the T3-5 door with the rear door and fold up rear seats to help carry things and get them in and out easier. Or -The T3-Pickup which basically adds a 40 inch bed behind the T3. I am 72 and use that as I do not have to stoop or reach in. Bags and loads can go at the belt level height of the bed for very easy lifting.
I am impressed with the machine. Had been thinking of making one myself. Govt of India recently, blocked making of vehicles without approved designs. I strongly feel, it would be a hit in India, even if it does not have an Airconditioner. Though, one with airconditioner would also sell like hot cakes. @@chhabrahn It makes no sense at all for any manufacturer to close the factory it just built, lay off the workers it just trained, take all of its technology that it owns outright, and give 1/2 or more for free to some stranger. Further, while the new operation ruins the company name for poor start up quality, late delivery, and demands that the manufacturer come and teach its workers for free and pay all of the warranty claims for its problems. Far more logical to do local assembly slowly so that it takes years to be doing full knockdown.
I would love something like that when I retire. All I should need is something that can drive on local roads that are 25 to 45 mile per hour, be able to carry a second person and or a few days worth of groceries. Right now I have to drive to multiple work locations, too fast and in all weather including blizzards.
for one, i don't own this, but i know the concept, like a cushman truckster 3wheel truck. it would not be good on snowy roads, atleast not ones with snow already packed on it. but if you need something that's 45mph.... you're better off hunting around for a gas model of one of these.... also, this dude charging almost 7k for a 3 wheeled golf cart in relativity..... yeah no. there are sites that offer these and gas models for around 1500 to 3800 each. pending on your needs. could even get some with flat beds, dumper beds, seats 4+ one driver and so on. can even get some with a 1x1 hitch reciever
I am a disabled person having difficulty in my right leg. Currently I am driving two wheeler with no extra support and during rainy time and bright sunny days it makes me uncomfortable to drive 2-wheeler. Also since I am aging ( physically , above 40) I prefer to have extra support These type of vehicles could make me feel better , I get great comfort from these vehicles. I need not worry about balancing, wearing my rain coat when driving in rainy days ,save my skin from scorching sun. Could you market these to India meeting all safety conditions and suitable to drive.

A serial hybrid generator package is in development for up to 400 miles range. That will be a retro fit introduced next year if development works as planned.
I presume this is not a vehicle you would wish to take on the freeway with it's low top speed. It'd need to at least cruise on the posted speed there to be somewhat safe. But around town on surface streets is where it'll excel...
People suggesting that solar panels would be a useful way of charging the main battery are (with respect) overestimating how efficient solar panels are. Fitting this lovely little vehicle with solar panels would only generate enough power to charge a mobile phone, a laptop, or run the radio. To top up the main battery you'd need an array something like twice the size of the average house door. It'd be good in countries with strong day-long sunshine, but the panels would probably cost more than the vehicle itself! I'm in England, and 'sun' is just something that happens to other people. In England we do grey, and we do snow, and we do dark grey, and we do rain, and we do fog. We don't really do solar power...

Its a motorcycle. It has taken head on crash tests and sides in the 25-35 mph range. All cars are safety rated by weight. When Honda says it has top of class safety rating on a Civic, that does not mean it is equal to a Suburban in a head on or any other vehicle. Safety ratings only apply to equal weigh vehicles. The seatbelts are lap belts in the back.

One is truly missing is air condition. If it rains the rain would come in. It's a very good design but seriously one must include air conditioning. Keep up the good work.
Air conditioning basically is a killer of the primary features of such small vehicles. First they are not cars, they are motor scooters. Second, there is not enough room in one to install a air conditioning system without taking away either battery/range or interior space. Third, the AC has to be electric driven and eats range. AC is not efficient like say heating. Compressor losses are to high. Fourth, the cost goes wild. AC is a big jump in cost, but moreover it is interlinked to needing then a larger battery to run it, and because the vehicles would have to be larger to fit it in, they cannot fit sideways in a truck and 9 long in a truck or a container. They would have to go in end wise, and the costs jump roughly $2,500 because of these multiple factors. The intent of these designs was not to be a car, but to be the lowest cost vehicle to keep on the road with tire replacement, battery replacement, maintenance, insurance, electricity under $450 a year. We will do a larger vehicle next year with AC, but I expect squealing and complaints with the price coming in about $10,800
Only thing I would like is to be able to have keys to lock the doors and would I be able to charge it by using an extension cord from the inside of my house or room?
Thank you. The air fan will clear the windshield. When it is colder it has heat to the windshield also. The new models for 2018 also have two fans up over your head for even more air without using the heat to cope with the monsoon season in S East Asia.

2 design flaws? 1) the front "hood" should just hinge up without doing surgery to get it up. Similarly the driver's seat should be hinged so that you don't have to unscrew & remove the seat to get at the batteries under it. Just tilt seat back on hinges. I wish this were 4 wheeled for more stability.
The hood does go up. 2 screws. The drivers seat is hinged on other models, not on this one. But since you only go in there once maybe every 2 to 4 years, why balk at 4 bolts? Laws make a 4 wheel impractical as the speed must be lowered significantly, the use of the vehicle restricted, the price goes up.

Hi! I stay in Turkey for 3 months/year with my mother and we wanted to find a small vehicle to drive around the area. We got a Yuki Tria, which looks similar to this vehicle (i'm sure there are big differences), also electric. The individual who sold it to us didn't take his time in explaining how everything works, and they didn't give us a user's manual, since i guess they have to pay extra for it. It doesn't have seat belts, and the individual who sold it to us told us it did. We live in a community that is quite hilly, and there are speed bumps everywhere especially before and after the slopes. Sometimes we have trouble, it goes at 10 km/hr, and once it started going backwards. The battery charge keeps changing, and we are not sure how to keep track of when we need to charge it, and we are not sure whether to trust everything they told us. Is there a website that explains how the batteries work for such vehicles?
well, like any vehicle that does not have a charge indicator for the battery, you have to test it regularly with a battery tester.... i don't own one of these vehicles but i know the concept, it's basically like a golf cart long and short. every now and then, test your battery, if you're driving it daily, it helps to test it a bit before each trip, especially long ones. once it gets to around little less than half a charge or a quarter charge, plug in the charger unit and charge it back up.... i used golf carts for 10 years, some with charge indicators built in, some without. and that's how i avoided just dying in the middle of a road somewhere far from an outlet to charge it back up
You will have to check with your local laws. Canada is the world's worst to deal with for vehicle certification. But we see in the USA, where many local communities allow vehicles like this without license, even when the state requires a license. Additionally we see that in many states there are in cities/towns basically allowances for elderly and disabled to drive. In some of the most rigid states, the cities allow the elderly to drive with no problem. So I suggest that you start by going to your local city and local police and pose the question along with showing them photos of what the vehicle is. Then contact us at sales@zelectricvehicle to see what we can do. In one recent case, we added extra lighting to the vehicle and that was all that was required for the local police to accept it. You should also contact Transport Canada about vehicles for elderly and disabled.

The Goverment want 1 million Electric cars on Irish roads by 2030 lol. That's like 100000 Electric cars needing to be sold here every year which is not going to happen. They are in dreamland but maybe you could convince them over a 🍺 that some of your cars and bikes could put a dent in that. They would be perfect for anyone living in our Cities like Dublin, Galway or Cork or even for out in the Country. Pricing would be the thing. If you sold them at €4000 that could sell. Lots of cars in Ireland that only have 1 person in them most of the time taking up space and causing gridlock. One of these could be perfect for them.
No, to do that would make the vehicle not handle as good and not brake as good. We need the two wheels where the load is in the back where the battery and passengers sit. The 2 wheels has to go under the main weight load. Going to two front wheels would also make the vehicle much more expensive. For many markets, they would reject the two wheels in front as it also almost triples the turning radius. In areas with narrow streets, its a major selling factor that a T3 ZEV will turn almost in its own length.
I'm excited about all these bike concepts & would love to own one, but I can purchase an electric car with more space for $2,500. So when the price of these bike concepts go under that price I'll definitely buy one.

But you now, and for the last couple of years, can buy a $2,000 new base model electric car that goes approximately 45 to 55mph and has a 35 to 40 mile distance on one full charge. They have models up to $8,000. With more amenities and longer battery distance. 90 miles max. Delivered to your front door.

You run the risk of it being destroyed or returned at the port. People read the Alibaba hype and believe they can get something super cheap, but are ignorant of the laws for legality. Before buying, ask for a US Certification document.

The vehicle has to pass the USA certification tests or in most states, it is not allowed to drive. Additionally, unless it is imported as an offroad only vehicle it is not legal from the Feds to drive on the road. To go on the road they need DOT certification documents. They are like those Changi trucks that are offroad only, despite several people importing them (as offroad only). I try to keep readers from getting skinned by buying stuff and then finding it is scheduled for reexport or crushing when it shows up in the USA uncertified. I get please help emails every month from someone who imported and got caught.

Florida Moped laws say 35 mph. The street speed is the limit, not a starting point. So if the street says 35 mph, then any speed up to that is okay

The car does have regenerative braking. It does not have a transmission. You do not crash test motorcycles

A solar panel is an option. No problem to add it. We use a flexible panel of 60 watts. That is the largest that will fit.

Maybe I missed it, but I wonder how many miles does it go before it needs to be recharged and how long does it take to fully charge when empty?
The 2021 version goes 70 to 80 miles on a charge. 4.5 hour charge time

for one, i don't own this, but i know the concept, like a cushman truckster 3wheel truck. it would not be good on snowy roads, atleast not ones with snow already packed on it. but if you need something that's 45mph.... you're better off hunting around for a gas model of one of these.... also, this dude charging almost 7k for a 3 wheeled golf cart in relativity..... yeah no. there are sites that offer these and gas models for around 1500 to 3800 each. pending on your needs. could even get some with flat beds, dumper beds, seats 4+ one driver and so on. can even get some with a 1x1 hitch reciever

I am a disabled person having difficulty in my right leg. Currently I am driving two wheeler with no extra support and during rainy time and bright sunny days it makes me uncomfortable to drive 2-wheeler. Also since I am aging ( physically , above 40) I prefer to have extra support

If you go to the website at zelectricvehicle.com/31.html you can see the options. There is a double the range lead battery system, and then options for lithium to double the range. A serial hybrid generator package is in development for up to 400 miles range. That will be a retro fit introduced next year if development works as planned.
I presume this is not a vehicle you would wish to take on the freeway with it's low top speed. It'd need to at least cruise on the posted speed there to be somewhat safe. But around town on surface streets is where it'll excel...

People suggesting that solar panels would be a useful way of charging the main battery are (with respect) overestimating how efficient solar panels are. Fitting this lovely little vehicle with solar panels would only generate enough power to charge a mobile phone, a laptop, or run the radio.
To top up the main battery you'd need an array something like twice the size of the average house door. It'd be good in countries with strong day-long sunshine, but the panels would probably cost more than the vehicle itself!
I'm in England, and 'sun' is just something that happens to other people. In England we do grey, and we do snow, and we do dark grey, and we do rain, and we do fog.

You are absolutely correct on all points. With a solar array the size of the vehicle roof, it takes about 4 days in sunshine to charge.

Its a motorcycle. It has taken head on crash tests and sides in the 25-35 mph range. All cars are safety rated by weight. When Honda says it has top of class safety rating on a Civic, that does not mean it is equal to a Suburban in a head on or any other vehicle. Safety ratings only apply to equal weigh vehicles. The seatbelts are lap belts in the back.

One is truly missing is air condition. If it rains the rain would come in. It's a very good design but seriously one must include air conditioning. Keep up the good work.
Air conditioning basically is a killer of the primary features of such small vehicles. First they are not cars, they are motor scooters. Second, there is not enough room in one to install a air conditioning system without taking away either battery/range or interior space. Third, the AC has to be electric driven and eats range. AC is not efficient like say heating. Compressor losses are to high. Fourth, the cost goes wild. AC is a big jump in cost, but moreover it is interlinked to needing then a larger battery to run it, and because the vehicles would have to be larger to fit it in, they cannot fit sideways in a truck and 9 long in a truck or a container. They would have to go in end wise, and the costs jump roughly $2,500 because of these multiple factors. The intent of these designs was not to be a car, but to be the lowest cost vehicle to keep on the road with tire replacement, battery replacement, maintenance, insurance, electricity under $450 a year. We will do a larger vehicle next year with AC, but I expect squealing and complaints with the price coming in about $10,800

You assume incorrectly. The car has a defrost and no fog air blower and heater/dryer on the glass.

Thank you. The air fan will clear the windshield. When it is colder it has heat to the windshield also. The new models for 2018 also have two fans up over your head for even more air without using the heat to cope with the monsoon season in S East Asia.

2 design flaws? 1) the front "hood" should just hinge up without doing surgery to get it up. Similarly the driver's seat should be hinged so that you don't have to unscrew & remove the seat to get at the batteries under it. Just tilt seat back on hinges. I wish this were 4 wheeled for more stability.
The hood does go up. 2 screws. The drivers seat is hinged on other models, not on this one. But since you only go in there once maybe every 2 to 4 years, why balk at 4 bolts? Laws make a 4 wheel impractical as the speed must be lowered significantly, the use of the vehicle restricted, the price goes up.

Hi! I stay in Turkey for 3 months/year with my mother and we wanted to find a small vehicle to drive around the area. We got a Yuki Tria, which looks similar to this vehicle (i'm sure there are big differences), also electric. The individual who sold it to us didn't take his time in explaining how everything works, and they didn't give us a user's manual, since i guess they have to pay extra for it. It doesn't have seat belts, and the individual who sold it to us told us it did. We live in a community that is quite hilly, and there are speed bumps everywhere especially before and after the slopes. Sometimes we have trouble, it goes at 10 km/hr, and once it started going backwards. The battery charge keeps changing, and we are not sure how to keep track of when we need to charge it, and we are not sure whether to trust everything they told us. Is there a website that explains how the batteries work for such vehicles?
well, like any vehicle that does not have a charge indicator for the battery, you have to test it regularly with a battery tester.... i don't own one of these vehicles but i know the concept, it's basically like a golf cart long and short. every now and then, test your battery, if you're driving it daily, it helps to test it a bit before each trip, especially long ones. once it gets to around little less than half a charge or a quarter charge, plug in the charger unit and charge it back up.... i used golf carts for 10 years, some with charge indicators built in, some without. and that's how i avoided just dying in the middle of a road somewhere far from an outlet to charge it back up

You will have to check with your local laws. Canada is the world's worst to deal with for vehicle certification. But we see in the USA, where many local communities allow vehicles like this without license, even when the state requires a license. Additionally we see that in many states there are in cities/towns basically allowances for elderly and disabled to drive. In some of the most rigid states, the cities allow the elderly to drive with no problem. So I suggest that you start by going to your local city and local police and pose the question along with showing them photos of what the vehicle is. Then contact us at sales@zelectricvehicle to see what we can do. In one recent case, we added extra lighting to the vehicle and that was all that was required for the local police to accept it. You should also contact Transport Canada about vehicles for elderly and disabled.

Heating is done by heated seats and handgrips. There is no AC. This is an enclosed motorcycle for $6300.

@@MegaDhz I was just looking at your website there. A nice range and some very nice bikes. You should try talk to the Irish Government maybe a Green party Minister Eamon Ryan is his name. The Goverment want 1 million Electric cars on Irish roads by 2030 lol. That's like 100000 Electric cars needing to be sold here every year which is not going to happen. They are in dreamland but maybe you could convince them over a 🍺 that some of your cars and bikes could put a dent in that. They would be perfect for anyone living in our Cities like Dublin, Galway or Cork or even for out in the Country. Pricing would be the thing. If you sold them at €4000 that could sell. Lots of cars in Ireland that only have 1 person in them most of the time taking up space and causing gridlock. One of these could be perfect for them.
Do you plan to make the T3 with two front wheels and one back wheel?
No, to do that would make the vehicle not handle as good and not brake as good. We need the two wheels where the load is in the back where the battery and passengers sit. The 2 wheels has to go under the main weight load. Going to two front wheels would also make the vehicle much more expensive. For many markets, they would reject the two wheels in front as it also almost triples the turning radius. In areas with narrow streets, its a major selling factor that a T3 ZEV will turn almost in its own length.

But you now, and for the last couple of years, can buy a $2,000 new base model electric car that goes approximately 45 to 55mph and has a 35 to 40 mile distance on one full charge. They have models up to $8,000. With more amenities and longer battery distance. 90 miles max. Delivered to your front door.

You are also saying that you are willing to pay up to $8,000 for a cheap China car that is not legal to drive on the USA roads. Unless that vehicle has a USA DOT certification, it is not legal. You run the risk of it being destroyed or returned at the port. People read the Alibaba hype and believe they can get something super cheap, but are ignorant of the laws for legality. Before buying, ask for a US Certification document.

The vehicle has to pass the USA certification tests or in most states, it is not allowed to drive. Additionally, unless it is imported as an offroad only vehicle it is not legal from the Feds to drive on the road. To go on the road they need DOT certification documents. They are like those Changi trucks that are offroad only, despite several people importing them (as offroad only). I try to keep readers from getting skinned by buying stuff and then finding it is scheduled for reexport or crushing when it shows up in the USA uncertified. I get please help emails every month from someone who imported and got caught.
