This is why I hate the forest giant, there’s basically no counterplay except for getting back to the ship. Once you’re out of stamina you’re basically dead
there sorta is now, if you're not going solo anyways. The radar can flash. For example, if it is named Albert, simply type in "flash alb" in the terminal while it is turned on and it will emit a flash that can stun a forest giant for a good 2 seconds. If someone is willing to hold it and be permanently flashed, terminal guy can spam type "flash alb" and keep the giant stunned forever. It interrupts a giant even if it picked up a teammate and is in the "eat teammate" animation, like a stun grenade. Do note that the stun effect of the flash command is inconsistent across different enemies. Some enemies only get pissed off and start hunting you.

You basically have no counterplay, especially super late at night or with dogs out. Dogs and a giant suck because you have the threat of getting turned into a chew toy if you run, but if you don't and you get spotted you get turned into an almost-midnight snack. When it's super late you have to get to the ship ASAP (which normally you avoid the giant by slowly waiting for it to change where it searches so you aren't in it's sight, and at 10:30 you have to disregard this strat), but you need to make sure the giant doesn't spot you or you're still dead.
We got ourselves a deviation/subcategory philia! What's this one? Hard Vore. If you haven't heard of it, you probably won't like it... and if you have, you probably don't like it! Double down, the vorarephiliacs tend to shudder at it. No less, more power to you, just fight the urge because you're a greater asset [to the company] bringing the stuff back. You can hop out freely if you got the scrap in the ship though, go wild. Feed the trees. Oh. And to those who managed to inspect the odd comment, find a reply with five paragraphs, and stay intrigued enough to read to the bottom. Have fun. They ought to name a philia after morbid curiosity leading people to look for things they're pretty convinced they're gonna cringe from. Give me a thumbs up if you did it, I need to know that I sent someone looking into that Google image search.
Even if it's hopeless most of the time, being chased by one of these things is still somehow one of the most anxiety-inducing things in this damn game and this video is a perfect show of that
Whats funny is that, according to the beastiary, forest giants act like 5 year-olds, so you basically got outplayed by something with child-like intelligence.
tbf if you dropped items and ran at full speed at 0:08 you probably coulve escaped there, I dunno if you knew about nodes at the time but waiting there was probably the worst choice because it was a given that he would turn around and no matter where he turned he would still see you

@@LoudWaffle what would you say exactly is the way in which they react to noise? I have only ever seen them turn towards noise, never seen them move from where they’re standing without having spotted a player
No they can't, they have some code that could let them hear, but it's unused. The reason it turned around and spotted him is because giants have a "unique" behaviour that makes them stop and look around while roaming.
you should be able to outrun the forest giants if you've literally dropped everything and are sitting at 0 lbs like ffs let us shine a flashlight in its eyes or something to stun it at least. or maybe holding radiator or lamp causes it to blind itself when it grabs us
Y'all having your hands completely full of loot like a covetous gremlin and bringing no equipment, try experimenting with having 3 hands of loot and, say, a flashbang or a stun grenade. 3 loot is not 4 loot, I know, but it's better than no loot and an unrecoverable corpse!

Time and time again, this game just showcases the most brilliant comedic timing I've ever seen. The giant's turnaround phases is too perfect.

Yep, that's relatable.

Forest Keeper on Offense is super unlucky, 4% chance to spawn, and its probably one of the worst maps to have a giant spawn on too.

and I have experienced it
I've had 2 before, my friend had to distract them for me to get back to base
i've had a giant, dog, worm, and babbon hawk all spawn at once on offense

Unsurprisingly a giant walks as fast as a tiny human can run due to its massive stride
It's because you aren't meant to run from it in a chase. Forest Keepers are meant to be this game's stealth based enemy.
