I completely agree with you saying “ I feel like you need to be 100 pages into a book to truly judge it” because I know so many people that get around 20 pages into a book and say “I hate it… I will NOT like this” and I say “how do you know you’ll hate it after 20 pages?!“ so I always make the effort to read the first 50 pages in one day / sitting when starting a new book!
i agree as well because i can be impatient when im reading and say “i dont think ill like this book”, 20 pages in, but by the end of the book im grateful i finished reading it.
I don't agree with this. If you like the idea of the plot then go ahead and read at least that much ig, but 100 pages is a lot of pages tbh, and you can totally judge it at least 20 pages in. I remember reading "Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe" or whatever the name was and I hated it 2 pages in, I hated it 10 pages in, I hates it 150 pages in. I kept waiting for the so called moment it becomes good, but I was already halfway done with it and it wasted my time. If you don't enjoy the book from the beginning, don't read it. Pick up smth that flows with your mood. Sometimes you hate a book because you're not in the mood for it ngl
@@sin3358 absolutely! maybe 100 is a bit excessive. I always chose around 50 pages in as it’s less than an hour of reading for me and gives me a rough idea of the writing style / plot. sometimes the first few chapters are slow and then it improves, and with dual POV books I want to get a few chapters in to get a feel of the characters! Everyone’s different & im glad you’ve found what works for you!
@@sin3358 but if you go by that logic some of the greatest books ever would never have made it to the level they’re at Especially the older ones because people back then did not care for “click bait” for the lack of a better word like you could be 300 pages in before the action starts and at the end the book ends up changing your life and you would gladly go through 300 boring pages to experience how amazing it is again Obviously that’s not true every time but books are like people and sometimes the more you know the more you can look past little cons and enjoy all the positives Also 100 shouldn’t be the rule . I think it just depends on how thick the book is like you dont need to read 100 pages of a 270 page book to form an Opinion.obviously..
the definition of the selection series is comfort read. its so easy to read, cheesy, dramatic, you get so attached to the characters. tho ik some ppl hate it but i absolutely love it

A court of mist and fury is my comfort book! I've reread the series about 3 times now and there's so many little lines you miss in your first read (which is expected without knowing the full context.) So so glad you finally picked it ip :)

Yes to ACOTAR series! I’m currently on ACOSF and the audiobooks have been really helping me get through these giant books! As a new mom I don’t always have time to sit and read and I love being able to listen to the audio book as I do laundry, wash bottles, etc!
Alexa, you have no idea how happy I got seeing you read ACOTAR that I almost cried when you said you loved it!! I started and finished the series earlier this year and the storylines and characters are absolutely some of my most favorite (2nd to the Shadowhunters, though). You have to continue with the series because the romance gets spicier and the story gets crazier! The second and third books in the acotar series were my fave🥰 the 4th one gets so much hate (it’s a novella) but, I loved it. I loved how relaxing it was, it was just a cozy book with the characters and I think it’s needed after the 3rd one. They’re all amazing🥰

same for acotar! I’ve had this book for 2 years and only picked it up a few times but couldn’t get into it. I finally read it a couple of weeks ago though I ended up really liking it and I’m now excited to keep reading the series!
Maxon Schreave is a sweetheart and I love him! America & Aspen annoyed me sometimes, but I do love that series. I'm currently reading Red Queen and quite enjoying it. I feel I may have been a tiny bit spoiled on a villain but I have no idea how that's going to go down as of now. I'm more into Cal too. I definitely can't wait to get into the rest of the series.

I felt the same way as you at the beginning of ACOTAR! It was my intro into fantasy and I felt it was a slow start but I am SO GLAD I stuck it out because OMG. SO. GOOD. Book 2 is even better as well!! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series myself!

Red queen is what got me into reading fantasy, however the last book in that series put me in a MASSIVE book slump (took me a year to finish) and then the selection series brought me back to reading! ACOTAR is my heart. I love them.
All of SJM books are amazing honestly! ACOMAF is my favorite but they are all good. Magnolia Parks was good if you read it, currently on book two. The Selection was a cute read as well!
I finished reading red queen yesterday and I LOVED it. All fantasy books aren’t for everyone but this one in particular was a YA fantasy so that could also be the difference of you not enjoying it that much or why it didn’t draw you any as much. I personally love fantasy and sci-fi but o do agree that there is usually some romance in them. I feel like I get the best of different genres in fantasy books ranging from mystery. Fantasy obviously😂, romance and sometimes sci-fi and history

My thoughts on selection book: You guys have to read this book!! It was so cool to dive in this world. you won't even know you are reading it's like you are watching the movie. Prince Maxon is my love i love him so muchhhh I'm obssesed. america singer is a sweet and beautiful soul. It was such an easy read, i loved how maxon and america has sweet and fun conversations and how they have secret signals when they wanna meet but at the start of book i wanted more of aspen and america i really wanted them together and more of them but rn I'm loving both boys well this book ends on cliff hanger and that girls were so jealous of america i love the way she wants to be herself always. This book was such an cute fun and easy read!! Rating: 5 out of 5 ⭐

I'm still reading Red Queen and the story is kinda slow, I'm just 150 pages in, and I think it's really too tedious for me, btw did you get your hair colored, they look so different and my favorite booktok book is definitely The Summer I Turned Pretty ❤

I agree with your thoughts about 'Red queen' I also didn't really like it, but after the plot twist I decided to continue the series. And in my opinion I was worth it because the second book is just so much better (or maybe my standards have gotten lower for this series 😂)

I actually disliked Red Queen as well 😅I wanted to see if maybe it got better so I read the second and third … It honestly felt like it got worse. The story started to drag and it wasn’t keeping my attention at all. It definitely has potential and I can see why people loved it, but it just wasn’t for me.

I agree with your thoughts about 'Red queen' I also didn't really like it, but after the plot twist I decided to continue the series. And in my opinion I was worth it because the second book is just so much better (or maybe my standards have gotten lower for this series 😂)

I actually disliked Red Queen as well 😅I wanted to see if maybe it got better so I read the second and third … It honestly felt like it got worse. The story started to drag and it wasn’t keeping my attention at all. It definitely has potential and I can see why people loved it, but it just wasn’t for me.
