The Tudors were given a family name in retrospect. The Stuarts decided that it was to be their family name as part of the explanation to why they had the crown.
Being Welsh they had no family name ,they were referred to as "son of..." Or the place they were born/from, and this was in Welsh. Tudor comes from a simplification of their family title.
The Royal Tudors would have wanted people to use Plantagenet as their family name. Although Henry VII was proudly Welsh, he was emphasizing his English claim to the crown.

He’s the last Plantagenet king but there were his brothers Edward & George’s children and grandchildren😌

The Tudors were descended from Plantagenets. Henry VII from Lancastrian (maternal line) and Elizabeth of York. Lancaster and York were cadet branches of the Plantagenets.
Ça fait plus d'un an que je retravaille mon anglais pour pouvoir voir The White Queen qui n'a jamais été diffusé en français. Et j'ai enfin trouvé The Holy Crown avec Tom Hiddlestone, enfin presque. @@sahratudor Of course you,a Tudor fanatic would say that and you know so little that you think your personal bias is to be believed as a fact.Learn the facts then you would know how tyrannical and cowardly Tudors were. I will just say this one thing,they had the weakest claim to the English throne through a bastard line and they took it by slaughtering King Richard III that too by betrayal not even by rightful victory.
Henry the 8th sucked but everyone else was okay. Well Mary was kinda bleh too.
The Plantagenets are every bit as bloody and brutal as the Tudors. They just utilised deniability and spin better.

Tudors are not plantagenet
No they aren't but the first Tudor queen was a plantagenet princess and through her daughter, the bloodline is still within the royal family today (albeit more distantly)
