@aggiejet I broke one bolt as well. Ended up having to drill and retap the hole. I found another video where they tightened the bolts and hit the pulley at the same time. Once I did that, it fell right off.
My hub and pulley keep sliding down the spindle resulting in belt flying off. I know it’s just had so much use that it’s worn and won’t grip in place when I move it back up and torque it back down. Thought I’d check TH-cam and see if anyone else had this problem. Suppose I’m off to get spindle , hub n all for my 20 year old Scag.
@@kurtdussander4944 This is a interference fit, so I can't see the spindle shrinking, but I could see the hub expanding. Maybe a new hub first? Lot cheaper. :) Good Luck.
@@robertwilcox8902 you could be right on that. I definitely don’t see the spindle shrinking. I could see the metal wearing. The whole setup on eBay is $60ish and I will probably go that route. On another subject about how the gentleman spoke on measuring from top down for proper pulley placement,, sometimes you got to watch measuring from top down if it’s a secondhand mower because the spindle could’ve been replaced with one that has a different length shaft.
The bolts would be shot. The holes in hub under head of bolts are way bigger than the bolts so that pocket has held water for 20 years rusting the threads away right under the heads., You could see they were eaten up where they broke. Almost looks like hub was hammering on them but guess the taper press fit is stronger than that.
I'm so glad I seen how you broke those bolts. . Before I did the same thing
I really can't thank you enough for this. Thank you so much. I got my mower fixed thanks to you
Excellent. Glad it helped.
Thanks. The other video you refer to was missing all the pics of how it looks. This fit the bill. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

Very informative !
Thank you. That's good stuff.
I broke one of mine too! How did you get it out!
I was able to use a needle nose vice grip. It unscrewed easily.

❤ thank you so much
You're welcome 😊
How hard was it to remove the screwdriver from the taper lock?
@@jeffvanrobertson2970 very easy
How far do you set the pulley down the shaft?
20mm
His voice and draw reminds me Forrest Gump........not to be disrespectful at all.
Use a gear puller !
They are bolts, not screws .
So educate me. Whats the difference?
WOW, not the correct way .
Care to elaborate?
